Battery life was fine on my Series 8 until this update. After updating my iPhone(11 Pro) to 17.1 and the watch (Series 8) to 10.1 I now have to charge the watch twice a day. And it takes several hours to charge each time. It used to go from 10% to 100% in about an hour.
same happened to me on the Apple Watch ultra 1 and I only have for 1 month, practically brand new
I'm getting Terrible battery life don't know why this hasn't been talked more about terrible, better life.
As a work around, I set the watch to ‘low power’ mode - It lets me at least use the watch for most of the day. I hope an update to fix this is released soon.
Same updates last night 80% battery on my series 7, put the watch on at 7am it’s 1130am now and battery life 11%

Just got the Ultra 2 yesterday. the double tap feature works pretty well. I love the watch, of course, but I didn’t realize how much that feature would come in handy until I started using it.

Just was having that talk today with people. Two times per day charging
For me it made it 10x worse. I went from 70 right after updating to 0 within an hour.
And me on my series 5. Dead by 6pm

I noticed the double tap to pause music doesn't work in the music native apps. I'm wondering if the apps publishers have to update for that feature to work. For the name drop, you have to go to your own contact and select it first before it'll transfer.
Updated my Apple Watch 8 last night after watching this video. I had a fully charged battery before I went to bed at 11:00pm. At 11:28 I woke up to my wrist feeling hot and had a battery percentage of 8%. My watch will not hold a full charge for more than 1 hour. I unpaired from the iPhone 12 Pro, repaired it to the iPhone 12 Pro, and tried to force restart it with no luck. It has to be the software update. Very frustrating!

Yep, same with my brand new Series 9. Was working great on Watch OS 10, but 10.1 broke it.
If you have MobyFace, delete it off your watch. Fixed my battery issue on my Ultra after updating.

Deleting Moby Face app from my phone and watch solved the battery drain problem.

Very happy with this update. On the Modular Utra watch face, the calendar events are shown as a list when tapping on the watch. Before, tapping on it launched the event and I had to use the back arrow on the left part of the screen to see the list of events...

After this update on watch 9 I’m having charging issues. Takes forever to charge and gets very hot. Anyone else experiencing this? Also checked Apple support forum and boards lit up with this issue and quick draining of charge
Apple told me to turn Off optimized battery charging on the watch to fix the slow charging issue and start removing 3rd party apps until the battery discharge is normal. I removed the MobyFace app and the watch is stable now.

Since updating my Apple Watch SE to 10.1 the battery goes from 100% to 7% in just over an hour.
Have you noticed the weather widget does not display data on the lock screen? It hasn’t worked since 17. All I see is dots were the temp would be. When pressed, it takes me to the weather app like it’s supposed to.
Still using my trusty Apple Watch S4 and still working great. 👍 Here and there its just a bit slow and battery is not too good but it will get me through one more year for sure. 💪 Waiting for Apple Watch S10.
I was having severe battery drain problems on watch os 10.0 where it would drain my series 5 in about 10 hours. Now it seems back to lasting a full normal day for me comfortably. For reference my watch battery capacity is around 77%

I have a series 9 and the gestures tab isn't in the main menu any fix for this. I also updated my Apple Watch to 10.1
Series 7 watch, updated to 10.1 and the Blood Oxygen icon, in complications, disappeared from all watch faces. It is still there as when I press the blank area where the complication is it starts up.
Not sure if you noticed, but watch os 10.1 also has added some new changes to the snoopy watch face- 1)snoopy parachuting
2) snoopy playing the piano
3) snoopy carrying a music player/stereo

Is an Ultra battery that drains from 80% to 10% in 5 hours one of the new features? Or the wrist-warming feature? My 100% charged series 7 went from 100% to 0% in 5 hours after the update.
I like the _won't charge while on a charger because the watch is chewing on something and will actually full discharge and shutdown, while on a charger_ feature
Yep. It looks like mine overheats and stops charging so it runs down the battery while it's on the charger because it never cools down enough to start charging again. Unpairing and resetting doesn't help either. After resetting both of my watches my series 7 completely died after about 5 hours off the charger, and my Ultra only charged to 84% after being on the charger all night and was down to 60% after about 1.5 hours of wearing. @@bobwill

@@gtrogue I imagine that Apple might be facing a class action suit on this. You figure that doing this is probably aging the internals of these watches by weeks or even month due to the sustained overheating, and people will reasonably feel entitled to replacement hardware that apple hasn't lit on fire.

I have white strip on my watch faces on my iwatch series 5, it happens in always on mode. When I turn my wrist up the white blocks covering time and weather disappears!! Do you know if this happens to other devices as well?

Was having some high battery drain on my Apple Watch Ultra, hoping this cures that.
Apple Watch Series 8 and the batter drain is still insane. Used to be able to last 2 days and now not even a day passes and it’s less than 10%. This update seems the same or slightly worse than the previous one. Never had any problems with my watch ever since I got it but it’s so annoying now

Complications for EGC and blood oxygen do not appear on the watch face on my series 8. If you touch where the complication would be the app does work.
Is there anyway to get the watch to stop draining your battery? I have a series 8 and it automatically updated and it drains my battery to zero from 100 within a couple of hours. I reset the watch and it slowed it down but still draining the battery within a couple of hours

Watch 7. Since WatchOS 10 & now 10.1 , Optimised Battery Charging is not working. I wiped it out completely and re-paired it to my iPhone 15 Pro. It does not kick in. Any idea would be appreciated. Both devices are up to date.

It's so unbelievable that you, as a reviewer, have not mentioned the battery drain issue for the newer watches. My watch series 9 is pretty much useless because of 10.1

I just updated my Apple Watch to watchOS 10.1. The heart rate complication is now invisible. I can tap where it used to be and it does open the Heart Rate app. So, it's there but just invisible??

I have an Apple Watch SE 2 running WatchOs 10.1, I noticed that the Heart Rate complication is not showing.
Providing update: 10.1.1 fixed the Heart rate complication, it is now showing.
Just a quick question I'm not seeing the HomePod media suggestions at the top of the Smart Stack for only Series 9 and Ultra 2 as they showed it off at the keynote any ideas to make it appear?

10.1 is draining my battery do you know if they are working on a fix I updated battery only last about 3 hours I have a Apple Watch Ultra went to Apple Store they told me there is nothing they can do. A lot of people are experiencing this

Mine bricked up I had to send it to Apple , got my replacement today doing the same thing going back to Apple asap.
Any better now? Some are reporting it’s due to third party watch faces.
Much better I ended up taking all non Apple apps off my watch rebooted it and getting 36+ hours again 🎉

The double tap is a nice idea I guess but it is easier to use the stems of my AirPods to control songs. Double tap works poorly if at all in workout.
OMG!….My Ultra 1 is pretty darn new and I don’t get double tap? Why am I being punished for having a one year old watch? Does Apple really expect us to upgrade our watches every year now too? Ridiculous.

This update has a serious issue affecting battery life. Using an Ultra 1 and it went from 100% to 48% within a span of 1.5 - 2 hours. It also charges very slowly and will feel somewhat hot to the touch.

Same issue here w/Ultra 1 that is only 3 months old. After two calls with Apple support, their only “solution” was to set up an appointment for me for in-store support (which is a 2 hour drive away for me) 🤦♂️

Following up here - found a solution that seems to fix the problem (at least in my experience so far). Delete any 3rd-party apps on the watch and don't use the weather widget/complication. It seems that's what's causing the poor charging and rapid battery drain + overheating.

night mode is still useless with the watch barely readable, i wish they would allow the brightness to go higher.
I know!!! I have poor night vision and the watch is completely useless in dark conditions! I can't even see the time, let alone any of the other features and notifications!
Apple NEEDS to allow us to specify a minimum brightness for accessibility purposes!!!!

im still on 9.6.2 and my watch lasts up to three days..i like dail the crown to interact with the watchface.. os10 is just not my cup of tea :) .. im still missing the playnow icon at the top for easy songswap during carplay
I still have bugs, which I think are present now for a long time:
The first one is, when you look in options, you can see how much pictures are saved on your watch. I think this number never is right. It said 34 on my watch, but I think it should be 20.
Second bug I have is the following:
I have a multi access point WiFi a network at home. When I enable WiFi at my watch, and disable my private MAC address in settings, (I need to do this so my network knows exactly which device has connected, how much data it uses etc. When I have a private MAC address it will see the same device as different devices) everything works great. Now after 2 or 3 days, the watch will reset this option, giving me a private MAC address. Then I need to disable this again. This bug is present for more then a year now.

use the set as current watch face, I have the (8) series watch.
10.1 absolutely destroyed my battery life on my S7 cellular. Unpaired and paired watch back to iPhone 12 Pro Max on 17.1 and no difference.
Just to add that it's possible to change the music control with Double Tap from play/pause, to skip track in the Gestures section of the Watch app. I used Double Tap today for the first time while out walking to skip tracks. Worked great even when wearing gloves. Was much easier than trying to select the skip button with gloves on or trying to double press the AirPods Pro stem.

My update does not have the double tap feature. I’ve restarted the watch but not reset it yet. Hoping not to have to. Anybody else having this issue?
