I think the writer reading adds something because who knows better the proper inflection. I really loved listening.

Wow, Katie! This was an engaging start of a book, I loved it!
I didn't know exactly what to expect because I still haven't read your first book (though it's on my list), and I was carried away by the narrator and the dialogues. I had the cell phone near me and I mostly listened, and you know what, I saw the places and the people... it formed images in my mind while you read (not a full movie, more like flashes of images), and this is such a pleasure. I'm gonna buy the book and read it for sure! Congratulations!

Genuinely this reminded me so much of Jane Austen's novels. It's clear she's a large part of the inspiration but you capture the same wit, fun, immersion, worldbuilding and characterisation so well! I absolutely loved it!!
She definitely has been very inspirational on this one!

Oh Katie! It's BRILLIANT! I adore it more than I thought possible already (and I find literature doubly hard to absorb and enjoy while on audiobook and while sick). I can't wait for my copy to arrive. I might have to cut Jane Austen July reading short if it arrives before August.

I do not - I enjoy reading a chapter here and there like this, but I don't think I could sustain it for a whole book! The audiobook version is narrated by Olivia Vinall, who is a professional actor and voice actor, and she's amazing.

Thanks so much! Yes, I think you are best off ordering the novel from Blackwells, a UK shop who do international shipping. I don't have a US publisher at present, so there is no guarantee when (or indeed if) it will ever be released in the US.
