    Or you could do a mandatory play...where the player next to the dealer has to play but may choose the trump...this is very good to learn to play risky hands...

    Thanks for the explanation, only 1 remark regarding the bonus points, according to most rules it is upon the team that makes trump to decide or they will call the bonus points, sometimes it can happen that the trump making team realises that they are on "mission impossible" and since a losing team will also lose the bonus points, they will not call them, this will be especially in the case of "stuk", king and queen of trumps normally worth 20 points. Keep in mind that in the Netherlands there are 3 major variants of Klaverjas, Rotterdams, Amsterdam and Utrecht, the main difference is in how to follow Trumps. Also a spectacular variant is "Kraken", this is a variant often played for money/drinks where the trump system works different and a random card is selected as trump and where a bidding system comes in play, if one party decides that they would play trump, the other party can overbed and decide: I can do better, this is called a: kraak, this will mean they play for double scores.
