    This car will change your life and grant you three magic wishes. If you don't want the wishes, that's ok, you should still buy the car though.

Love it as an everyday driver, "fits" up to five people, lots of room for stuff when only one or two inside, lawnmower, snowblower, groceries, boxes of stuff. Great mileage, fun to drive. No issues in 8 years, just oil changes, wiper inserts, and a set of better Michelin tires.

    I'm still driving the Honda Fit that I bought new back in 2007--best car I ever owned. I love the standard transmission and the way the car handles. No mechanical problems at all until spring 2023 when the air condioner failed. Honda is not offering new Fits in the United States, so I ordered a 2024 Chevy Trax, which stayed on order for four months. Eventually, I decided I didn't want to give up my Fit quite yet and cancelled the Trax order. I made it through summer in Louisiana without air conditioning--love my Fit, but I wish it still had the side window ventilation that used to be standard in all cars.

    My parents had a 2003 Honda Jazz (Fit in european markets) until around September 2021, when the clutch finally gave out (a known problem I think). Learned to drive in that thing, and boy was I spoiled with it once I'd passed my test. Yes it was a little old, yes the paint on the wing mirrors somehow fell off, and yes it leaked in the boot (until we fixed it just like the one in this video), but it practically sipped engine oil and petrol, was a blast throwing it around the country lanes at 5am, and practical as anything. The new hybrid model looks awesome too, still got that rigid body frame, the magic seats, and this time with a little more power. It's definitely on my list to look at when I end up needing to buy a car in the next few years.

      Yeah, my grandma has an HR-V, and while I've enjoyed driving it the couple times I have, and I'm sure if I owned one I could come to appreciate it more, it's definitely more watered down than the Fit. I Have a 96" Honda Civic EK with a 210HP B16A.
    I thought I has something special, until my wife decided to buy a Honda Fit (called Honda Jazz in Europe).
    I always told her (before she bought it) how she should get mine, and I could buy an EP3 Type R.
    But she insisted on the Fit, as "one day we might have kids and they need a roomier car".
    Turns out we did have a baby, and boy this car is PERFECT for a young family.
    We got the 1.3L i-DSI version in Europe with 80something HP.
    I will give our car 9/10 JUST because of that engine.
    If our little Fit/Jazz had 110-120 HP, I would rate it 11/10.
    Dependable as NOTHING else.
    Easy to drive. Great visibility. Great Steering/Gearing/Clutch Feel.
    Easy to maintain. Cheap parts if eventually something breaks.
    Handles, really, REALLY good.
    Practical ? :D I've literally re-built our home with materials I transported with this car.
    I've driven many, many cars. And my family mostly owned German cars. We also own a E320 Benz.

I like the Civic, but wish it were a Fit whenever I'm carrying anything, sedans really are lacking on cargo space. I miss the directness of the steering on the Fit too. I have had my fit for three years now. From 100k miles to 179k now the headgasket went only cause the rad fan fuse relay broke and fan was not working otherwise it would have gone way more then 179k. I just rebuilt the headgasket had the cylinder head professionally worked on all valves changes and seats changed nd guides. Sad that this car does not have a temperature gauge or i would have noticed! By the time the idiot light comes on saying its hot which comes on at 225* is way past saving itself. So crazy that the car was so reliable i never noticed it did not have temperature gauge. The blue cold light on cold days gives a small sense of security. Anyways i had the sport with paddle shift which is a blast the trans has been phenomenal the whole time. I put headers and intake on only to remove the intake the car is not a intake car its much better being quick and discreet its a parking lot zipper. Try the stock intake lid again for another week im sure you will change your mind and go back. Best mpg i got was 38mpg with I believe 330miles on on tank of gas most of the time i was putting in 8.5 gallons of fuel from empty to full and getting 280-290miles on one tank of gas. I miss the car so much i still have it just cant pass ny inspection at the moment the second it does im driving this again. If anyone is out of state of ny that dosent have to do emission testing where if the cel light is on you cant drive i can sell you a newly rebuilt honda fit. Yeah, the lack of a temperature gauge is one of the flaws with this car that I missed in the video. But I do have an aftermarket temp gauge laying around, I just haven't installed it yet.

    • @unicornharry7995
      @unicornharry7995 Před rokem +3

      They are all over the place so I would say so. But the manuals are a lot more fun. They have enough power to zip around, so having the option to hold gears does a lot in favor of getting enough power out of it to be a really fun car.

    • @doug_velasquez007
      @doug_velasquez007 Před rokem +3

      Also sometimes manuals will sit longer in used lots because few people know how to drive them these days. That was the case for me. I snagged a 2013 Fit sport manual with 30k miles in 2017 for under $12k. The sales guy even tried to discourage me from buying it "cause it's a basic manual" LoL

    • @mylifethaidiy7045
      @mylifethaidiy7045 Před rokem +2

      I have the 2008 FIT automatic. This car is quick and has lots of power. These are probably the best automatics Honda has. I saw a guy has a FIT with 500,000 miles on his original automatic. The manual transmissions in the FITs are known to have a SHUDDER. You will also have the expense of pulling the transmission every time the clutch needs to be changed.

    • @j_taylor
      @j_taylor Před rokem

      From what I've heard from mechanic friends, the automatic transmissions are great, but the CVT requires more maintenance and may have to be replaced eventually. To be fair, they said this is true of many CVTs and Honda's is no worse than others.
      The stick shift is very nice, though. The clutch grabs smoothly and confidently, not a bad car to learn on even.
      Edit: no "shudder" in my 2019 manual Fit. The clutch in my previous (GM) car had 100,000 miles when I sold it, and Honda is known for making good manual transmissions. I'll be astonished if I need a clutch before 150,000 miles in this.

      Each clutch will feel slightly different just as each car is slightly different, but I'd say the clutch in the Fit definitely needs to be eased onto a little more from a stop than some, but is super easy to rev match with. The clutch in my Insight for comparison is significantly lighter, and is definitely a little trickier to use, but I find it’s easier to do hillstarts with, but doesn't downshift or rev match as nicely.
