This is so funny lol. Benfica e Castelo Branco were founded as an affiliate club of Benfica in the city of Castelo Branco, that's why they have similar names and badges (it's also why there are a lot of Sportings around like Sporting da Covilhã which have a very similar badge to the old Sporting CP one), and they're actually not even in the 3rd tier (the Terceira Liga), they're in the 4th tier (Campeonato de Portugal, which used to be the 3rd tier until 2 seasons ago a new professional league was established). Other fun stuff to point out you may have missed: B-SAD, which in your game is called Belenenses but they're not the true Belenenses former Portuguese champions, they are legally a club founded in 2019 after the club section broke away from the board of CF Os Belenenses (the true Belenenses are now in the 3rd tier and B-SAD in the 2nd in a relegation scrap), won a few CLs; Amora, a club from the 3rd tier with a brief stint in the top flight in the 80s won some as well; a bunch of all-Portuguese finals including Benfica vs Benfica CB on multiple occasions. I didn't see Porto, Sporting or Braga anywhere though, it would have been interesting to check the Portuguese league and see what else has changed. Also a random King's Lynn Town in a CL final once.
Astounding! 👍👏
I am more the type of guy, whom you ask:
Schwarz-Weiss Essen, Dortmund, Schalke, Stuttgart, Milan - Jens Lehmann
Did you copy a whole Wikipedia page or did you write that since THATS A LOT OF WRITING
2:42 Nunez spent 5 years locked in Liverpool without ever playing a game.
Wolves winning the Prem as early as 2023/24 was definitely an unmentioned shocked
Reputation is definately OP in the game. Only yesterday I had a situation where I've got an unexpected promotion and my entire summers transfer business was scuppered by players going to 1 of 2 higher rep teams in the division below for less playing time. Honestly, transfer windows like that make you just not load up the game for a day or two.
Im currently in a 4 promotion run, in league two with a squad thats still national north/south quality cos no one thats any good wants to join, and the ones that do end up joining a different team in the same league or the national league for more money cos we only have an 8kpw wage budget, its actually pure pain.
Also, the reputation change is too slow. The only way to have a massive boost of reputation is to get into final of Champions or Europa League, semi-finals don't do much, and even then, it's just for one club. The reputation change for the leagues should be way faster, and European titles should boost it.
I think it is there to hold you back. Honestly, the game would be too easy if that wasnt the case. You are just so much smarter than the AI at signings.
Teams with formidable youth like Schalke will thrive
How is the first you think about Schalke 😭 Toulouse >
Nah bro, ajax. Eredivisie is a top 6 league so just below the top 5. Ajax has very good youth and the eredivisie will be the nmr 1 League
@@baekrrFCA because Schalke is the best team
@@daneskozz schalke are so shit
I think the game just doesnt have a scenario for this, in real life, a big corporation would make a move for a Dutch/Belgian/Portuguese club and turn them from selling club to buying club and would definitely have the means to buy the champions league and that'd start a cascading effect of money and success (and then reputation)
SLB Castelo Branco is a team from a smaller town in Portugal! But this is very funny!
it would be interesting a video in which you give a lot of money to the leagues participating in the Asian Champions League
I was thinking something similar. If you give, say Japan, a huge TV deal, will that filter down to other Asian countries getting better and becoming a dominant continent for football?
The problem is that there's no real interaction between the various continents except for the Club World Cup, so there's no real way to test it except to look at CA's and PA's.
Finally hoped the Dutch clubs would shine, but somehow FM holds them back in EVERY EXPERIMENT 😭
If the top 5 leagues have a salary cap of 500k/w, there is still only a single Dutch team (Ajax) that spends more than that. So ultimately, nothing changed in the balance of power because the top leagues still have by far the most money to spend.
Nah but fc Volendam??????
@@krabpapier8100 disgusting
Ik think it is stopped by signingon fees and bonusses
Would be interesting to see the squad makeup of the big teams in the earlier years, a few stars and a load of cheap players or more balanced?
I don't play FM but does it show the Club World Cup too? I'd be interested to see if these Middle Eastern sides can start to beat the European and South American champions with their huge payrolls.
Tom you are one of the best youtubers keep up with the good work, we love to see it!
This experiment has a massively flawed premise. Your "tiny" salary cap still leaves those teams with a higher weekly salary than all but 6 European clubs (I've found Ajax, 3 Portuguese clubs, Brugge and Olympiacos - not even moneybags RB Salzburg are over 500k/w) which means that strong players will still earn more in the EPL than in any other league. If you want the salary cap to actually be noticable, you'd have to go at the very least below 300k/w, but that would still leave only a dozen or so clubs in additional competition.
My hometown team of Amora winning some champions leagues. Love to see it
Is it possible the lower division English teams for some reason weren’t effected by the cap and that made them OP?
It affected them getting up to prem. So in case some club had the power to pull out some insane wages in championship it definitely helped them. However if they get to prem the wages are too high and they either have to sell those players, negotiate smaller wages or just not register those players. So yes and no.
As someone who has done a one club save and won a champions league with dartford i loved this.
Of course Miguel Infantino, a descendant of Gianni Infantino, plays for Al-Gharafa in either Saudi-Arabia or Qatar...
Suggestion: make very European league have x amount of salary cap but if a team in that country wins an European competition then that league the teams from gets a cost cap limit increase by x amount
Please could you share the save files, I’d love to have a look at this!!! Amazing video.
As a Benfica fan, I've gotta say I loved this video ahahah
How did transfer fees look? Did they increase, decrease, or stay much the same?
Asking the real questions here, I would assume they are massively inflated as the are similar amounts of money coming in with much less to spend on wages. But we shall see
Could try to give the other leagues more money to see if that changes anything
You should do this again but maybe include Portugal, and give a tiny nation league a huge TV deal on top. See if that League can rise to the top and sign superstars.
being an american and an orlando city fan, never would I ever think that Facu would be here 10 years later, nor us even being featured in a video no matter the weird rule
Good lord, even the MLS has a salary cap more than three times higher than what you gave them. I look forward to this.
I wonder where Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are in the 2126 season in this simulation? I'm guessing they've fallen to at least League One or below.
I'm not surprised Dutch clubs didn't do much. The Eredivisie always crumbles if you don't have it loaded. I'm just surprised Bulgaria didn't surpass them
Would of been nice to see what happened to the international rankings
did you made any non-top 5 league playable? because that plays a lot in game's evolution
I'd like to see a similar thing done but give them a £2m per week salary cap instead to make it a little more realistic - also with the usual suspects (England, France, Germany, Spain and Italy) PLUS Portugal, Netherlands and Turkey. With the Top 5 leagues, also give a salary cap of £1m per week to their 2nd division too. I think that THAT would give a very interesting result
I really need to know more about this Benfica situation lol, I still feel like it’s their B-team but something broke ingame lol 😂
It's not, Benfica CB are a completely separate team in a different city
@@yvltc shooketh
Crystal Palace are still finishing 14th in 2072.
3:10 Yuri Alberto, Zenit
Lower league usa are making a 10 tier pro/rel database. I'd love for you to look at how that works after 5/10 year's
I wish but he might not know us soccer as well
@captainyank138 In this database, it's normal pro/rel and regionalised leagues like non-league in England. MLS team's (you probably know a little about them), USL Championship (pro team's), USL League 1 (barely pro). Then a bunch of ametaur/semi pro team's
@@owenthornhill9671 I’m aware. I used it before lol. It’s more like he won’t know the teams well or the cities but hey if he’s down I’m down
@@captainyank138 could always do your own video about it and link
Never would have thought that Hiroki Ito would be the 6th highest earning player in the world
Sutton regularly do well on these videos. They appear to be very overpowered in FM23.
See if it evens everything out if you do it with all the leagues as well
Really underated youtuber
As Arsenal fan this feels like a dream

Is this database going on your patreon?
0:20 how did you manage to use the old logos for 3 leagues???
Finally an experiment where Bolton do ok!
Hang on kings lynn got to the finials of the champions league :O
I'm guess the lack of a good tv deal in the dutch leages has also not
I would like to see the opposite in South America. Give the Uruguayan league a 1 billion TV Deal for each team and see if they can stop brazilian and Argentine teams
Kings Lynn made a champions league Final What the hell haha
9:48 FC København in the CL final in 2111/'12!
2 years later, Kings Lynn, a national league north side (6th tier in england) made it lol
Did league prize money change? Or were the premier league clubs just holding on tons of milions without being able to spend them? Did clubs in Portugal become rich?
If they are not spending money on wages how much are the transfer fees
“Another player playing in Belenenses”
That’s not Belenenses. That’s B-Sad. Yes their currently name is B-sad
Why? Some years ago, Belenenses went bankrupt and
Went to the regionals in Portugal. While that the board SAD stayed in Primeira Liga, but without the logo and the name. A new name was created B-Sad
Benfica CB and SL Benfica are different teams
While one is playing in Castelo Branco the other is playing in Lisbon
Benfica CB was a satellite of Benfica, we in Portugal have a lot of old satellites that still have the logo and the name of their old primary club.
5:21 how did wolves win and aston villa get 2nd in 2023-24????
6:33 Real Madrid lost the Champions League final AT HOME To Arsenal 😭😭😭
what about removing all players from every club and setting a salary cap of 500k for each team/league?
I think you would see just a switch in real life. The problem is in FM the wealth of FAs is pretty static and TV money doesnt really increase very much. If all the best players went to portugal, they would have the massive tv contracts we find in the prem. Also, I think reputation is too important in this game. If an innocuous team were to offer premier league players 100 million a year to play for them, I think most would accept. The idea that players would take a 90% paycut to play for a higher rep team is unrealistic.
My biggest takeaway from this is that Leeds lost about 7 champions league finals without winning one 😭
i'd expect the belgian league to be 5th because of beleneses (i think thats how it's spelt) carrying
You should make the US have a relegation/promotion system
how did you add the column with "Curent Ability" ?
you need to have the Editor DLC, then you need to Customize View and it's there under Hidden
I think you forget signing fees. And also bonusses are in play
so the 2033 UEFA Champions League is hosted in Kyiv? Hmmmmmm
The "dynamic league reputation" is broken. Provenly broken.
how do you see a drop down CA list in FM21? I know no such option
You go into the scouting section and right click on a column, insert column and it's under one of the sections marked "hidden". You can't access it though without the in-game editor I think.
50 yrs in future and my club Sutton utd up in prem
I think a great experiment would be to just erase all the money from all the top leagues (including sponsorships)
Most importantly Middlesbrough has won 2 Champions League titles.
As an arsenal fan, maybe there some sense to a salary cap....
Person 1: so what team do you support?
Person 2: Benfica
Person 1: ... which one?
Yes Dartford!
How to put salary caps???
Who won the World Club Championships?
If you'd run this simulation 5 years ago, the Chinese Super League would have absolutely dominated the spending on player wages 10, 20, or 50 years into the future. Look where they are now.
These teams in the Middle East are looking good right now, especially in Saudi Arabia. But that very well may not hold up in the medium to long term. They are overspending at the moment, and it just isn't sustainable.
You can't make other leagues more rich actually... So there is no way the clubs in those leagues can ever afford to pay massive wages.
I noticed you mess up speech and it looks like you meant to edit it out but you don’t lol you’ll say the same sentence twice sometimes. Just something I noticed but dope vids around 9:20 it happens
What I took from this is that Chelsea are crap in every single experiment
Doesn't matter about the salary cap because eredivise can't spend £150000 a week on multiple players. Ain't got the money for it.
What's funny is that I was just listening to "Pink Floyd - Money" when I got the notification 🤣
Great content as always Tom
Up the darts
anybody knows how to edit salary cap?
southhampton 31/32 champions league runners up
Dartford winning the champions league lol
ramazzani
that data base is not done right. the salary cap was not low enough and it was only done for clubs not leagues that's why all the smaller clubs in england rose up the leagues and become power houses, also in order for this to work you'd have to change competition prize money.
why put top 5 leagues in the title if you then only talk about england? seems kinda redundant at that point
Magically ‼this 💋👌

benfica is the best team itw anyways so
FM is so incredibly English biased it's sickening.
This should be done in real life to be honest maybe like a million a week
