- It doesn't take much to trigger some people. Honda Civic driver decided to slam his brakes to make a turn, but after I honk, he changes his mind about that oh so important turn.

@@DallasDashcammer there was honestly no cursing. I was just muting certain parts that talk about calling the police and such. I was more concerned about safety than getting mad.

They really need to make psychological evaluations a requirement for a driver's license nowadays. Road rage is out of hand, even the simplest of normal things is enough to trigger a driver.
Listen, there is no such thing because the world is totally screwed with Gen Z taking over and road rage from horns will become more and more violent.

There's an old saying, "Treat others the way you would want them to treat you." Yes, your honk was justified; however, given that so many drivers seem to have fragile egos at this time, I would have just moved out of the way. You did the right thing when he began to follow you through. I always head for a police station, at my age (76) I am not going to win any fight. Grit your teeth and carry on, my grandpa used to say.
Honking horns is road rage in itself, wake yourself up

I was trying to think of something to say. I'm not sure how I'd handle a situation like this.
The only time I've had someone follow me after honking at someone, I was a passenger. The guy almost blew a yield sign and drove into us. He followed us into the Best Buy parking lot. We parked and he pulled up behind us. My dad got out and went right up to his window and asked him "You got a problem?" I think he saw me, my dad and my brother (all pretty big guys) and thought it wasn't worth it. He just said "You didn't have to honk, I was stopping." My dad told him he almost hit us. He disagreed with that. Eventually the guy left after repeating that you shouldn't be honking at people for no reason.
Idk why he didn't turn left or right while the guy was in front of him, the guy wouldn't have been able to turn around. I thought that's what he was gonna do then he got screwed cuz he went infront

Some people need to put their clothes on and act like an adult if you can’t handle people honking at you, you should hang up the keys and take the bus
Nice job handling the fragile Civic guy. I have had a few guys try this on me. I never let them get in front because they’ll brake check, etc. I slow them down and take the middle and floor it again to make distance then pull into a public area or even better a police station while still moving so I have an out.
They always usually back off after that. It was wise to quickly make a turn out of the blue, that works great too.
I laughed at how he thought his little civic could catch up to the pilot after you passed him and floored it 🤣
People are crazy nowadays! I barely honk anymore because of people like him except for maybe small toots of annoyance or warning.
Thing is, it doesn't even take a honk to trigger some of these crazy people. I had a minor incident this week at a lane ending merge. I'll put it up as soon as I stop being lazy with my editing.

I had a similar thing happen to me on the parkway, where a pickup behind me had his brights on, so after he passed me i flashed my brights at him. Apparently, this made him mad and he got in the right most lane behind me (3 lanes on the express) and started tailgating me. So I floored it, and it looked like he did too, but eventually I got away from him. Then when I came up to the Cheesequake rest stop, I pulled off there to let him get ahead so nothing else would happen and in case he did follow me, there would be other people around.
Fortunately you handled it much better than I probably would have 😂
My mom honked at a ford expedition the other day for the same thing, but she did the same as the civic! But we met at a red and she was just a rage queen and yelling slurs, throwing things at my moms car, all while her car is full of KIDS? Light goes green and my mom gets her subaru outta there, gets infront of another subaru, and turned at a street where it goes straight into a different street or you can turn left to continue the highway. Man that scares me for when I start drivers ed in july

He was in the wrong for how he was driving in the first place and then to get all pissy like that? Talk about thinking he's the only one on the road and he's entitled to do as he wishes if he doesn't like something someone else is doing. You handled the situation just fine. Stay safe!
He would not give a crap because the driver started it and just made the situation worse honking is how you will get screwed over and have your property destroyed.

You didn't do anything wrong. The civic almost caused a crash trying change lanes (late signal) by slamming on the brakes, then had the audacity to start a car chase over a blow. You did a great job evading the civic as who knows what is he going to do next after verbal confrontations. Driver of the civic better clean his act together before he rages with the wrong driver that will actually fight him. It's such a weird point the civc shifted from desperate to turn then changes his mind to chase over a horn.

Everyone in the video is wrong. The honker had plenty of time to change lanes and the civic obviously needed to get into that lane to make his turn. People need to practice patience with each other. Honking when unnecessary (which is almost always in the United States) is a form of passive aggression and IS road rage.

My two cents, but let me also be really clear and first say that the Civic should have gone about their day instead of following you. That was certainly unwarranted.
BUT, I would not have honked at them at all. I would have just gone around them in the left lane when they slowed down, considering the road was basically empty behind you. I was going to give them credit for not cutting in line and signaling - I've seen countless instances of people cutting in at the last second, so at least that didn't happen.
People are too ready to start fighting, or shooting, over little things now, and even more frighteningly when they are wrong. I read an article not too long ago where (to simplify) Driver A crashed into Driver B, then tried to run. Driver B followed to get their license plate and call the police, when maybe seconds later Driver A stopped, got out of his car and started shooting at Driver B (thankfully there were no injuries). I really bring this up to say people should think whether it's worth engaging with someone, as their response can vary wildly. In an ideal world, we shouldn't have to deal with that, but this is pretty far from an ideal world, so people just need to be careful who they honk at, engage with, etc.

In my opinion, the way you used the horn in your videos was too excessive, which is why these drivers were mad.
I completely understand that they were wrong, but honking can be very annoying too.
I knew someday it would happen to one of you dashcammers, only a matter of time that your honking at bad drivers would cause a road rage incident. This is why I just let the bad drivers do their thing and mind my own business and don't get involved, because you don't know who the other person is driving and if they have a gun or a weapon in the car, you are very lucky that they didn't throw anything at your car or hit you with their car.
If getting honked at for almost causing a collision is the cause for some loon's road rage, we, as a society have bigger issues to deal with. Also, drivers need to learn and understand their bad decisions have consequences and a honk is simply a warning to them.
@@carcamclips I know and realize what your intentions were, I would most likely do the same thing myself and have done the same thing myself before, however I do not lay on the horn, I just give one or two small honks. Anyway the whole situation does not make any sense to me, if the person is exiting there, why would he then not exit and follow around, I'm almost under the impression that he did it on purpose and just wants to play games with people. Well I'm glad it didn't turn out any worse for you.

There was no danger to the honker in this video. He could have changed lanes but choose to be passive aggressive. Both people in this video are assholes

In any case, i've learned do not go to the police for situations like this unless it is absolutely needed. I did this before at a driver, we got in a yelling match and they followed me to the police department and then turned around when they saw an officer outside. I gave the officer his plate and the officer looked him up and called him and he got on a racist rant with the officer. Point being, the officer called my actions honking at him unjustifiable, and the other as well for following me. He said he can put us both in an anger management class and have our licenses retaken, or we can just go our seperate ways. The police do not help in situations like these unless the other driver just targeted you for no reason at all, then it's a different story.
