- After losing a year to a devastating knee injury, Gain Lux is back and healthy and ready to take over as the starting shortstop for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Should we be concerned? Will the knee injury affect him physically? Mentally? A recent interview with third base coach Dino Ebel got me a little worried…
It’s time to talk Gavin Lux on another edition of the All Dodgers Podcast.

I'm 67yo, I had a complete ACL replacement about 15 years ago, all with scopes no big incision except for the knee cap ligament as the replacement. Now I'm not a big league player but my knee is still going strong, especially considering the rest of my body, haha! I wish him the very best and go Dodgers! Thanks Cliff, Pura Vida from Costa Rica!
I think you’ve got to feel for Gavin Lux. He was devastated by this injury last season. By all accounts he’s worked super hard this off-season to get ready for the 2024 season. He at least needs to be given a chance. And it’s a yes from me to who will be the starting SS in the postseason. Definitely going with Lux in his natural position. If nothing else, we still have Miggy Ro to fall back on. 4k+ subs, congrats Clint!⚾️⚾️🍀
A BIG chunk of that 4K is thanks to you!

@@ibestrokin And you my friend!
1. Thank you, Diane!!!! I appreciate your support more than I can express!
2. I agree that Gavin's work ethic should have him fully ready for a big 2024. Like I said in the video, he's earn this chance. Thankfully he doesn't have a massive amount of expectation on him -- just play good enough defense and keep the lineup moving while hitting in the 9 hole. Should be able to score plenty of runs this year.
3. I'm also hyped that he'll finally be playing his natural position as a big leaguer.
@@alldodgers As long as you have a CZcams channel I will be there supporting you!
I know a little bit about Gavin's work ethic. This will be a major factor in his recovery. Gavin Lux will be fine and I expect he will contend for an All-Star spot this year. Regardless, he can contribute at the plate so much, the Dodgers will put him to good use. All of his friends here in Kenosha, WI are so proud.
Gavin lux will be an AllStar this Year 👍🏻👏🏻
Congratulations on4k. We’ll know in spring train at end if he is ready.
Cant wait for spring ball!
Thank you, Craig!
Clint, you’re reading into this Gavin will be fine. Anybody that has ACL surgery or any other major surgery is going to naturally be hesitant to push that area that’s the mental part that Dino was talking about. Gavin doesn’t have to carry this team. Gavin‘s gonna hit ninth for Christ’s sake! He’s going to play average to slightly above average defense with a little bit of slug.
Lux deserves a chance. Miguel Rojas and Chris Taylor can be the Dodger's security blankets at shortstop.
I tore my acl playing hockey, had it repaired and rehabbed.... Physically it was 100% in about 8 months. Mentally it takes a minute to trust again. I'm not lux but I believe by mid may at the latest he'll move past it
Appreciate the insight! I know he's moving well right now, but those game situations will definitely speed things up for him. Just needs to get out to an even start to the season and he'll be fine. Agree with the mid-May for all the way past it timeframe.
We're spoiled today as Dodgers fans. A couple of DMac lives and a Lux vid from Clint, lets go!!!
I think Lux is due for a great season. About the mental aspec of recovery, I think speaks volumes that the Dodgers still show trust in Lux at SS. Not only will it give him confidence, but it also shows other players and potential free agents that the Dodgers won't abandon you after injury.
To answer Clint's question, I dont see why Lux wont be the starting SS come postseason.
#LAD4L 🙌
Agree with everything you just said.
@@dianeschroeder3980 wishful thinking and positive vibes for Lux 🙏
Hit 4k.. Congrats!!
Clint's on fire! 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you much!!!
Make sure you do stretches before reaching like that lol I'm all seriousness I think it'll be fine. Let's go Gavin
😂😂😂😂😂
Reminds me of the second coming of Jose Offerman!
Appreciate the 1080hd many mlb podcasters still only have 720, which sucks. ST should tell us a lot about Gavin's ability to step back into being an everyday infielder.
My only question is If Lux can be above average defensively. I think he can be at least average and I'm not concerned about his bat. I won't bet on it but I think he'll be fine
Just commented this to someone else too, but as long as Lux gets off to a clean start in spring training, he's going to just fine. He'll be hands down the best number 9 hitter in baseball this season.
@@alldodgers facts
It's simple if lux is bad on defense then just have rojas start they have enough on offense to make up for rojas being not very good at hitting.
I wish him all the best. ACL is a bitch of a comback. Pscycologically and physically. Short Stop is the most demanding defensive postition on the field as we all know. Good to have miggie row as a back up. If they share the position that will be good especially early in the season
I want it to be Lux. I think it will more likely be Willy Adames
Adames wouldn't be surprising, that's for sure. I'm hoping it's Lux though too
I'd be worried if there were no Rojas behind him.
Not worried
As long as he gets off to a clean start in spring training, he's going to just fine. Absolutely the best number 9 hitter in baseball
Mentally, trusting the repaired knee is similar to a pitcher trusting a repaired elbow. Once they feel physically capable to let go it takes off from there. That said, lux has been known to be a bit in his head so a lot depends on his ability to rebuild his confidence in the same manner as he rebuilt his knee.
Someone should do a medical lesson for us lay people on how repairable an athletes knees are in these situations..prognosis for success and expectations physically?
I wish Gavin well. I understand the concern with short stop being exceptional problematic after knee surgery. Because Dodger management is all in…..so am I.
Amen! We gotta trust the process. 🙏
#InFleecemanWeTrust 🙌
Left side of infield is suspect..lux and muncy
I am worried about him...he was pretty "meh" before the injury.
To be honest. I expected Lux to be dealt in the package for a pitcher. Still might happen.
Are you still with dodgers nation?
I am not.
Tim Anderson is just sitting there waiting for a 1yr, prove it deal, that would probably be cheap.
