What amazes me about the Slash is that it's been in production for over 10 years with only very minor changes. Traxxas really hit the nail on the head with the original Slash design - not only did they basically invent the entire short course truck segment, but they created a truck that was so well-designed and so versatile that it's managed to stay appealing and relevant longer than most real car designs do without a major refresh. That's an impressive feat, and while there are lots of good R/C cars out there from lots of different companies, none have endured quite like the Slash has. I have a 2WD Slash that's about a year old, and it's the best R/C car I've ever owned - and I've owned a lot of them. Hats off to you, Traxxas - you might just have made the perfect R/C vehicle.

There are a lot of issues with the Slash, but all minor. Like the Phillips head screws, leaky shocks, and junky tires. All can be extremely easily replaced, especially with the Slash being the most aftermarket friendly. And still gets the job done. Very fun trucks, parts are literally everywhere, and initial quality is decent. (Non-Ultimate models, the Ultimate is probably my favorite RC of all time)

The slash is amazing I have 3 now. One modded brushless rwd, stock awd with suspension upgrades, and another bone stock one for my wife. All of them are amazing and I recommend this to everyone as a perfect first rc vehicle

I re-entered RC about 10 years ago with an XL-5 Stampede. Yesterday, I got an XL-5 Slash. Great platform. What's special about the Slash is that it is as good on pavement as it is in the dirt, it has enough bumpers to be rugged and it also looks fairly scale. It's not as good in grass as the Stampede, but I like that it has the beefy steering tie rods and ball bearings included. (which the XL-5 Stampede, Rustler and Bandit don't have)
I have a monster slash 4x4 vxl6s, every upgrade. Metal 14pinion 54spur. It does wheelie flips at 50mph. Durable as heck. I have a 24pinion and 47spur. I jump what people crawl and I can outrun a huge percentage of speed runners with it. It's the pinnacle of versatility and durability. Home run I'd never choose another route.

I thought it would leave me wanting more since I also have a rustler vxl but honestly I get more joy out of my titan powered slash. Got the new red/silver body scheme it looks great! Might try out the Orion Ddrive 3000kv brushless system in it, if not I’m gonna slap a castle sct system in ‘er

very true, dont worry about traxxas products always very reliable. i have a traxxas slash which i ran for 6 years. no problems changed motor esc and servo only
i have a 1/10 2wd drive slash running stock motor and gearing but powered by a traxxas 5800 MaH 2s LiPo. I also have 1/10 rwd slash with the faster gearing in it running the same battery and stock motor and electronics. No issues with either of them so far and i love how much of a beating they can take. For first timers getting into traxxas models i would drive with the stock battery first to get use to the vehicles behavior. BEFORE purchasing a LiPo research the LiPos your vehicle can handle and remember LiPos are dangerous and need to be taken seriously.

Yea I've had a 2 cell 5000 mah Lipo get cooked in my slash during a race but I'm running the 10 turn vxl brushless motor with high gears in it with the motor turned up. Battery was like a balloon wen I took my body off.
The only issue I have with this truck is the stock servo. I had two of them puke out on me because they had the older circuit in them. Otherwise, a great truck for the money.
Wish I had slash, awesome rc for jumps and works better at the track, Traxxas You guys are amazing though and I love the RC's you guys have the best RC selections and are far greater than any others! #FastestRC
Out of all my RC vehicles I own my 4x4 vxl slash is defently the most reliable for bashing my two wheel drive vxl slash don't hold up with that much power

KodeKraft RC Where can I get them I've searched every hobby shop I know of and looked all over the internet I've never seen them, I found some Kenda RC slicks but I need some new rubber for my Brian Deegan pro4 1/16 truck.
I used to have a New Bright Jeep, and it is nothing compared to the Traxxas. I have a Traxxas slash 2wd 1/10th scale for about 1 month and haven’t had an issue. If you are looking for a cool looking car, durable car, award winning car, you’re In luck with this car.

Traxxas cars are pretty much bulletproof I jumped my E-Revo 1/16 scale and it went straight into a tree trunk and it's fine.
