You can see it yourself here on youtube. People ask her always to sing a Whitney song because of that famous Soundmixshow and because she sings it beautiful. Glennis respects the original artist and song by keeping 99% of the songs arrangement and style that we fell in love with.
...but still shows her own personality and glow! Thats what makes it so impressive beyond her singing.
For my personal point of view she has more power and colours in her voice than Whitney had at the time this song was recorded, especially in the higher registers. Would have loved to hear Whitney with her early voice on her later songs. Love both of them, just my personal point of view.

Whitney started to struggle during the Bodyguard era from heavy smoking and a grueling concert schedule. That being said, Late 80's Whitney had one (if not) the prettiest voice I've heard from any female singer. Truly remarkable! If I may suggest, you can look up Wendy Moten's rendition of I Will Always Love You from 1994 with David Foster. IMHO, the best to ever do a Whitney cover (after Whitney herself, of course) with Glennis coming at a close 3rd.

For all those critics....Glennis won a Dutch National Competition called the Soundmixshow in 1994(Who best impersonated a singer), she did a very impressive impersonation of Whitney. She was only 16 years old then!
She since build a very nice career and does have her own repertoire. But at these Ladies of Soul Concerts (Dutch singers) she always does one Whitney song.

Of course she isn't Whitney. Glennis is a great singer and she does some of the best, if not the best Whitney covers. But, she isn't even close to Whitney because there is something in Whitney's voice that nobody else has. The power, the soul, the operatic head notes etc. Glennis can hit the notes, she is a wonderful singer but she has nothing on Whitney's voice at all. This is an INCREDIBLY challenging song to cover because it fully encompasses Whitney's FULL voice package: the soft beautiful song-bird like head voice and vibrato, whitney's INCREDIBLE rifts and runs, and her sheer power and crescendo as she approaches the bridge in this song. I am speechless. This song isn't just about having a powerful voice, to fully interpret the song emotionally you need to immerse into the lyrics of the song. To get it right, you have to both show and sing it with a sense of vulnerability. And Glennis did it just right whereby it becomes believable and pulls you into the song. For a moment, I found myself in suspension of disbelief whereby I felt like if I was Kevin Costner just like in the movie "Bodyguard" watching Whitney Houston's MTV singing "Run To You" to me just like the MTV of the song only instead with Glennis. It was a magnificent performance, Glennis!❤
