I know I sound like an old granny, but back in the 1970s, there WERE "boutique" plant shops - at least in the Baltimore area. I remember buying a bunch of houseplants on clearance (including my first Ficus benjamina) from a shop called "Plant Parenthood" on Rte. 40 West when they went out of business in 1978 or so.
🤣 the aloe joke was terrible but I laughed anyway. And I’m sure I’m not like the cool kids but I love classic plants. The new stuff is cool but I love plants because of the nostalgia from growing up. Give me the classics, they’re timeless.
Waah! All my houseplants are in my office, and we had MLK Day off! Then, today, the Bmore County government allowed us to work from home ... so my love and appreciation for the (easy-to-grow) houseplants sitting on the file cabinet in my cubicle will have to wait until tomorrow for me to show it. Thanks for a great podcast. I wish I had a home (and husband) who were more ameneble to things that grow in soil. Is a "heart plant" the same thing as "string of hearts (Ceropegia woodii) or are you two referring to something else?

That's so neat! "Plant Parenthood" is SUCH a good name haha

Hi! I'm sure your easy-to-grow office plants enjoyed their alone time too ;) I was referring to the Heart Fern - a finicky but beautiful plant!
I am way late to the game, but Korean Food Celebration Day is April 14th ❤
Thank you!
