    Maybe I missed it, but it wasn't mentioned to prime oil into the turbo. EPA07 Series 60 Workshop Manual (DDC-SVC-MAN-0005) section 14.1.4

    Hi, was wondering if you knew if a truck needs to reprogrammed when changing turbo. Truck has GR eliminated and when it got turbo replaced it won't work. Appreciate your help. It's 2005 freightliner century.

    before you start the engine you are suppose to run the actuator test so the ecm knows the total travel of the actuator motor. also even tho the turbo was assembled at the rebuilder you should verify the actuator is timed to the gear. there is a pin hole in the back that puts the actuator gear in the proper position and the motor gear DOTS line up. yo.

      First Name Yeah the same as the Isx, probably changed 200 of them and if you turn the key on it cyles the actuator on it's own and will throw a code immediately then you can pull the actuator off and re time it . Yo

      @firstname6208 Před 7 lety +1

      the biggest problem I have seen with them is leaking coolant into the actuator motor and shorting out. good video.

    Sup bro , been up like 13 hours doing this turbo for a series 60 motor I’m new to this not really I just ain’t that good but the turbo blade was shot turbo actuator just locked up bad . After installing the new one and getting
    It calibrated with my computer ,When I start the truck it’s surging ? I replaced batteries on the truck a day prior just cuhz they looked like shit and we live in Arizona . Before I start the truck it says low voltage ? And when I start it it goes up to 15 if I hit the throttle a little bit it goes up even higher but then the engine starts running like shit and I turn it off . I’m not getting no codes related
    The turbo anymore those all
    Cleared out . I changed the alternator after seems like a reasonable thing to change . But the new one doing the same shit ? 2 faults I’m
    Getting Sam chassis short lo ? And then 530602 fmi4 ? You think it’s something electrical? Maybe a boost leak ? It’s a 09 frieghtliner.

    I'm planning on doing this myself. Maybe a veryyyyyyyy stupid question? I don't have the software like u do. Truck is a 2001 Century. Can i just install the Turbo and be on my way? Also I have a motor fan that will not turn off. I've tried sensor after sensor, Coolant lines, coolant sensor, air solenoid switch. Pulled the ECM sent it in to be fixed reinstalled. FAN IS STILL ON....... I've watched many of your videos and thank u so much........ I like to work on my own trucks. Unless it's injectors etc. U have any ideas about the fan staying on????? Thank u

    Sounds about right.

    With that texa set up is there an annual fee for usage / licensing fee? Or buy what you need once and done ? Does it give you trouble shooting and or wire connector pin #s etc.

      @westerntruckandtractorrepa1353  Před 6 lety +1

      Black Smoke Sorry, been buisier than a 1 legged man in an ass kicking contest. Once you buy the unit it's up to you if you want to purchase the up dates every year. It's no like cummins insite where your tool quits working if you don't give the mime every year.

    Good video. I have 2006 Freightliner Century with 14.0 l Detroit diesel. Can I replace the turbo without doing a regen? Also on this particular truck I have something called the ugly fix to eliminate my egr because I was told that it needed to be replaced and I didn't have the $$. Can I change the turbo and be fine?

    • @westerntruckandtractorrepa1353
      @westerntruckandtractorrepa1353  Před 7 lety +1

      Steve austin Does it Regen normally with the Egr disabled now? Normally if any emissions crap is not operational it will disable the Regen. Unless you have a programmer to fool the ECM. But yeah you should just be able to change it without doing a Regen, I do it just to make sure I don't have problems.

    • @MegaScorpio43
      @MegaScorpio43 Před 7 lety +1

      Yes its a 2006. 1 year ago this truck was sputtering and losing power, I took it to Detroit Diesel and they said that the EGR valve was bad and wanted to replace egr valve, cooler and turbo to the tune of $7500.00 which I did not have. Being in dire straights I found something called "The Ugly Fix" which disable the EGR on the truck as long as its working right when you first put it on. It has worked fine all this time but now I'm hearing a howling from the Turbo so I think it is starting to go bad. So, to save money I was thinking about changing it out myself if the job is not too hard but I have to make sure I don't need to use the expensive computer equipment that you had.

    • @westerntruckandtractorrepa1353
      @westerntruckandtractorrepa1353  Před 7 lety +3

      Steve austin wow, I just did a head job on a 14l cheaper than that, that's outrageous.

    • @MegaScorpio43
      @MegaScorpio43 Před 7 lety +1

      I know and I couldn't afford it at the time. So I improvised not even being sure if that ugly fix was legitimate or not but it did give me the time I needed to save up a little so I can purchase the turbo now but didn't want to buy the EGR and Cooler too. HOw hard is it to replace all 3?

    • @westerntruckandtractorrepa1353
      @westerntruckandtractorrepa1353  Před 7 lety +1

      +Steve austin In my opinion the Detroit cooler is easier to change than the isx one, should be able to get it all in a day or 2
