Man, hearing Jocko makes me miss my dad. My dad overcame every illness he had, until the cancer got him. Over the course of 20 years since his early 30's until his early 50' he went through a lot. Went through two heart attacks, and survived; then through a coronary artery bypass surgery , and survived,;then went through a stroke, and survived; then went through a major stroke and had to relearn to walk talk and eat. He went through all this and recovered each time, not 100%, but enough that he can be autonomous. He never doubtet he would get better. RIP dad.
Hit and Run June 2022. Broke my neck in 3 places. Lost complete control of my right shoulder, arm, hand. I’m one week back in the gym. Thank you Jocko 🙏🏽

Nietzsche was the one who did the job for me. He’s locked 🔒 in on the negative, but also can’t face it. My dream is that this will start to shift our mindset. We can effect change through our focus.
Just wanted to say that your videos have changed my life. I’m from the UK and have struggled deeply with depression up until 5 months ago when I first saw your videos. My OCD made it difficult to grapple with problems but it was your videos which kicked me up the arse to adapt my mindset to embrace struggle and uncomfortable situations which has allowed me to find freedom. I can now control my OCD by exposure therapy. Not only that, today I managed to overcome my claustrophobia by going caving the first time, the anxiety I felt before going damn near kept me up for 2 days and I felt like quitting several times but your words helped me pull through and now I feel free from that fear by embracing it. Your courage inspires me everyday and hearing about your experience as a Navy Seal has left me in awe of all of those serving for their country today. Thankyou Jocko.

Anytime im going through a hard time or unfavorable shituation, I always come back to this and it helps recalibrate and get shit done. I send this to all my people going through it. Good shit
I referenced this at my grandpa’s funeral today, and I got a lot of “thank you” comments after. I said, “Death is sad, and I miss him. But the GOOD is that he’s not in physical pain anymore, and he’s with my grandma again. Focus on the good in a situation, and you won’t have time to focus on the bad.” I admit, I cried when I said this. But I meant it. Every single word of it.
Don't forget to hit on the cashier she may become your future wife. Or give birth to your future kid and becomes you future ex wife. Then one day they both die because you got distracted while driving because you were having an intense argument with your wife while the kid was crying and you lost focus for a few seconds. But those few seconds was all it took to crash into incoming traffic. You were the only survivor. GOOD. YOU'RE currently in the hospital recovering in a wheelchair because you've been paralyzed from the waist down. GOOD!!?!! you now have more time to do and try new things. You take up writing and learn to play many instruments. Your favorite is the 🎻 violin because it can beautifully express your inner innate SADNESS. you go on to write books about your life that when others will read, IT inspires them to change their lives for the better. Hello Aaron I'm from the future and your book has not only saved my life IT HAS GIVEN IT NEW DIRECTION. So please 🥺🥺 please go buy that gallon of milk. Myself and others will NEED YOU SOMEDAY. even if you'll feel that you need your wife and kid back in your life after the accident. THAT WAS YOUR FAULT btw. We NEED you more than you need THEM or more than they needed you. So please. Do. What. You. Must. Fullfil the prophecy
And I ABSOLUTELY adore the production of this. Strong visuals, strong music. Congrats to Echo Charles. You make the whole thing so dramatic = penetrating the mind (right hand side)
It's Saturday night. I'm lay in a hospital bed. On Monday I had my lower left leg amputated after a motorcycle accident a few years back that I didn't heal from. This whole week I've been using the furniture in this room to lift and curl and press. I've attached resistance bands to my bed and I've been doing laps of the ward as fast as I can in my wheelchair. There are no negatives here. The phantom pains have kicked in today. They're savage, but I'm just smiling and accepting it because I know that I win in the end. They're here now, but they won't last. I will. All is good.
I think the "Good" mentality is very powerful for a number of reasons. The first is that it's tied to such a simple word that everyone can understand. Second, the delivery is savage and automatically gets you in that mind-state of capitalizing on whatever challenges you may face. It's the gritty version of "look at the bright side". Well done.
It’s also insanely stupid for any rational person. It’s more meathead bullshit philosophy for goofballs that ignores all the things that are not good in any way. What do you gain by denying reality?
This is the mindset that you have to have once you accept the truth the reality of the situation. I found out that I had parkinsons disease at 37. That was 8 years ago I could sit and let it rule me or fight every day and go until I can't. I choose option 2. I know how the story ends but I'll be damned if I don't go without a fight. I've promoted twice to Lt. and I've become a better husband, son and friend.
How many Times can you listen to this one without making Jocko very rich. Thx so much. I adopted so much of your extreme highlevel teachings to my not so important and simple life. Thx. God bless you and US
Been following his podcasts for several years now, after the accidental death of my retired military man. SHOUT OUT TO ECHO CHARLES, HIS GOOD FRIEND AND JIU JITSU BUDDY, FOR HIS TALENTS AND VIDEO CREATIONS. 👍 Thanks, Jocko, for being a virtual mentor to so many, helping me get up again and get after it! ...and to be a better, stronger person and leader.
This year: - my wife left me (good, now I have the opportunity to meet the person I'm supposed to be with and it taught me to appreciate people whilst they're in my life) - I didn't get the training contract I applied for at work (good, now I'm clear that I must take the alternative path to qualify as a lawyer) - my nan died (good, now she's at peace and no longer has to battle every day just to eat and speak and not fall over. Also my mum no longer has to work herself to death as a carer every day) - I had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic and it caused adult acne to appear all over my face and head and I went temporarily blind and my feet swelled and were agony (good, now I know that I'm allergic to that drug and I appreciate my sight and my health more. It also forced me to go about life interacting with people whilst self-conscious about my appearance) I'm still alive. Not broken or beaten but strangely feel stronger than ever. Good.
I feel you, watching Jocko's podcast gave me a fire for life and self-improvement that I never knew existed. It made me want to crush life like the fist of an angry god.
I've been through some s**t in my life. Yes, bad decisions mostly but some not in my control. When things don't go my way, I always come back to this speech. It makes me feel better, it motivates me, my mind is clearer and then I take on whatever isuses I am facing.. you the man Jocko!!!
My entire life fell apart a year ago. A total multisystem failure. A grand implosion. All my dreams, all my fears, shot out of the sky alike. I thought it was the worst thing that could have ever happened to me, but it wasn’t. It was good. It was the best thing that could have happened to me. I’m now 100lbs lighter, I live somewhere better, my relationships are more meaningful, and my new goals are grander. It was so good.
How did you do it? I'm right where you were. Wife's gone. Took my 2 little ones with her. Lost my house. About to lose my job cause I can barely focus. Losing friends over this. How?

“Re-engage!” Two minutes and some odd seconds of a verbal message just changed my mindset more than years of therapy. You just can’t argue with this man’s logic and what he does is right and so thank you so much. Everything‘s good. amen.

I have recently gotten out of treatment for alcohol. And this video has single-handedly gotten me through the events that followed. I watch this video every. single. day
Good on you man. I've been off the poison for seven years and some change now, it's worth fighting against it like your life depends on it. Because it does. Good luck to you on your journey.
Got into a depression lasting about 5 years, give or take. The "good" resonates deep within me and I understand it fully. Time to go out on the attack. Time to get after it.
“If you can say the word: good. Guess what? That means that you are still alive, that means that you are still breathing. And if you are still breathing... well now... you still got some fight left in you. So get up, dust off, reload, recalibrate, reengage... and go out on the attack.” -Jocko Willink
E.g.: Major studies indicated that the 'fight' attitude is the wrong one to have when dealing with medical conditions. You can't fight cancer away nor fight your ancle to heal faster. This man is a soldier. Great example of: If your only tool is a hammer, every problem has to look like a nail.
@@cameronadkins6268 Well, pretty much. It’s an extremely low chance to survive, and all the pain would go away anyways. Saying the stuff you saw on some motivational speech won’t help you when you’re literally dying.
@@potatoboy549 you're both misunderstanding the "fighter" attitude of the good mentality. Only a fool would think he can beat the natural flow of time and life. Beating cancer once you got it is obviously mostly about luck and how early it was detected. The good mentality isn't about fake motivation and stupid speeches, it's about how you must take in information and act accordingly to solve problems without getting trapped in negative thoughts. It's about reacting to a problem immediately instead of overthinking it. In the case of cancer there aren't many practical solutions that you can figure out yourself and if its spread too much the only thing left do do is to cope with it and embrace death. I don't really see how the good mentality wouldn't help you there
When I first watched this video I was over 400 pounds. 402 to be exact. That was 18 months ago. Today I walked into the gym wearing a shirt with Jocko’s face on it and the word “Good” underneath it at 229 pounds. Every lift, every set…I’d look at my reflection in the mirror. Down 173 pounds….looking “good”…. Grab the bar……”RE-ENGAGE!” Edit. Thanks guys. Update at 2 years I’ve lost 196 pounds and weigh 206 now.
I bought your book extreme ownership, a must read for people who really want to move forward in life. Great advices from the military world applied to the industrial and comercial one. Thank you Jocko Willink.
Makes me think of developing impenetrable gratitude. Gratitude is like a spiritual nuclear bomb. In my own recovery from substance abuse and PTSD, humility and gratitude go hand in hand.
naw man that's not how it works. You could say "GOOD! Saving band width" or something. But this is not a benefit which comes from the "bad" situation (no 1080p).
Vet here. Been paralyzed 6 years - your motivation inspires me to push everyday. Don’t feel like getting out of bed, good. Back too sore to lift, good. Feeling beaten, good! Now learn, now move, and go get it! Everyone can sit & cry about it - it’s what you DO that makes the difference. Thank you sir.

Focus on the good in a situation, and you won’t have time to focus on the bad. Holy shit. Wow.
Good, now I won’t have to think what I’m going to say in a funeral (awesome words man, really strong message)
I love that :)
rip for your grandpa and wish him have a great life with your grandma:)

So please. Do. What. You. Must.

4 interceptions in the fist half: GOOD
Go and still win
It's Saturday night. I'm lay in a hospital bed. On Monday I had my lower left leg amputated after a motorcycle accident a few years back that I didn't heal from. This whole week I've been using the furniture in this room to lift and curl and press. I've attached resistance bands to my bed and I've been doing laps of the ward as fast as I can in my wheelchair. There are no negatives here. The phantom pains have kicked in today. They're savage, but I'm just smiling and accepting it because I know that I win in the end. They're here now, but they won't last. I will. All is good.
Beautiful. Thank you.

Haha this is gold
I think the "Good" mentality is very powerful for a number of reasons. The first is that it's tied to such a simple word that everyone can understand. Second, the delivery is savage and automatically gets you in that mind-state of capitalizing on whatever challenges you may face.
It's the gritty version of "look at the bright side". Well done.
It’s also insanely stupid for any rational person. It’s more meathead bullshit philosophy for goofballs that ignores all the things that are not good in any way.

"Reload, recalibrate, and reengage" - the most motivating 3 words I have ever heard in a video. This video give me chills every single time
This is the mindset that you have to have once you accept the truth the reality of the situation.
Boss: "I have promoted you today"
Me: " Bad?"
Probably bad. Means that he will be giving you extra work beyong your pay grade.

I swear the more I listen to him and Goggins , the more I chase my dreams 🙌🏽. God bless David G and Jocko W.
This year:
- my wife left me (good, now I have the opportunity to meet the person I'm supposed to be with and it taught me to appreciate people whilst they're in my life)
- I didn't get the training contract I applied for at work (good, now I'm clear that I must take the alternative path to qualify as a lawyer)
- my nan died (good, now she's at peace and no longer has to battle every day just to eat and speak and not fall over. Also my mum no longer has to work herself to death as a carer every day)
- I had an allergic reaction to an antibiotic and it caused adult acne to appear all over my face and head and I went temporarily blind and my feet swelled and were agony (good, now I know that I'm allergic to that drug and I appreciate my sight and my health more. It also forced me to go about life interacting with people whilst self-conscious about my appearance)
I'm still alive. Not broken or beaten but strangely feel stronger than ever. Good.

E.g.: Major studies indicated that the 'fight' attitude is the wrong one to have when dealing with medical conditions. You can't fight cancer away nor fight your ancle to heal faster.

@@cauchyschwarz3295 So if you get cancer you should just accept that death is coming and there is no hope......?
That my man is NO GOOD.
