  • Hello Everyone!
Here is another Vaganova walk through for you all to enjoy!
This time we are walking through a rehearsal of my graduation exam jumps.
I think this is really interesting to watch as you can hear my teacher Irina Sitnikova in the background and also see the exam in it's not quite perfect form. The exercises progress in a really fluid way, getting larger and larger and more and more difficult.
We had about a week to go before our exam and were cleaning up the final elements.
I have also tagged on the end the promo to my EXTENSIONS COURSE which is dropping Monday on my website! :-)
    Enjoy!

Superb. Thank you. You’re an amazing dancer. I wonder how the dynamic was for you. As a superbly accomplished and talented foreign student, did the other girls react in any particular way when you were given recognition: placed front and center amongst your Russian classmates? As the only American (at the time) to be accepted to the Royal Ballet School (1970s) I can slightly relate. (Of course I didn’t have a language issue, coming from New York.) Fonteyn and Nureyev were still enthralling the world and the studios were packed with dancers from one of the RB’s greatest eras. The last two years of the school were housed in the company building. Only citizens from the UK or commonwealth countries were permitted at the school or in the company. So I was routinely referred to as “the alien.” My teacher, Julia Farron, was incredibly nice but the girls were mostly wretched to me. I remember feeling terribly lonely. Since you were clearly a star, did that have an impact on how others treated you?

Excuse my lack of knowledge, but I thought that foreign students had their own class/program, separate from the classes/programs of Russian students. 🤷‍♂️
(I also assumed that the same situation was happening in the UK or another country).
PS: Alexandra, I am very sorry for what happened to you when you were a student. 😢

@@nandofimin the Vaganova ballet Academy foreign students and russians study in the same classes, they’re not separated. The only difference is that Russians have also academic studies, while foreigners for a obvious language problem don’t. But actually if a foreign student has a Russian language certificate she/he can also study the academics subjects and they would literally have the same complete education Russian dancers get! (and get a Russian Diploma)

Thanks so much, Isabella, for posting and commenting on these excerpts of your practice. I am in awe of you gorgeous ladies and your talent and work ethic. Quite a testament to Vaganova, its instructors, and students. Of course, my eyes are usually riveted on you, but because you were in the back, today I noticed the girl in front with the calf warmers on. She has gorgeous feet! You may have already identified some of your classmates, but I was wondering if you would share with us who she is and if she joined a company. Thanks again! ❤️

Please point out which one is you each time, please. How could they let you do all that when it was harming you because you weren't ready?
