I Restored a Rat Infested Vintage Camper Trailer! DIY RENOVATION

- I found a vintage camper trailer about eight years ago and traded it in exchange for some labor. With a month free this year I decided to restore it, completely gutting the insides of the tiny trailer and building cabinets, the bed, wiring, painting it and more. Now it's ready for minimal living, a tiny home or simply just traveling around. Hope you enjoy the video!

I like how at 3:56 an offhand comment, a parenthetical caption, and six still images are the only mention made to the fact that you ALSO built a Jeep (about eight years ago). Great video! You are truly an inspiration.
The transformation is unimaginable! It’s hard to believe is the same old camper that once looked beyond repair. This man did an awesome job to be really proud of! It’s like showroom quality.
The man the myth the legend. He's back
Hell yeah!!
I just realized you're Buff Dad
You would love to work with him won't you ?

I just got a 1952 camper. I've been watching restoration videos for tip and ideas but every video shows a complete teardown and rebuild with new, modern walls, floors, exterior tin,.... everything! Why not just buy an new camper?
I LOVE your renovation! It looks like stepping into a 1950's weekend by the lake. Bravo! Beautiful! I adore your camper and can only hope that mine will be as cozy.
When I was around 28, I got a hold of an old 16' trailer like that and updated the inside and I lived in it for a while. My new wife when we got married (I was 30 by then), lived in it for about three or four years, maybe longer, before we got an old Amish built 24 foot trailer we lived in for a few more. I think we lived in the trailers for about 8 years total. That was around 38 years ago when I first got it. Lots of memories!
This is beautiful. I love the color scheme with the wood interior. Well done!!! ❤
Glad you preserved the original character of the trailer. And did not add all the modern day conveniences. Keeps it light and ultimately usable.
I love this! Thank you for taking this old, forgotten trailer, and making it beautiful! I hope that you, and your wife are enjoying the heck out of it 🙂
☮️💖🙏
Beautiful work. I’m glad you kept the original aluminum. All of those dings and scratches tell the story of this camper. With a new skin it probably wouldn’t be the same.
People always say that, but funny thing is not 1 buyer is gonna care about the "story" of it.... it's not a civil war gun,
Some half hobo probably used it for storage for years and that's where he used to slam stuff into it when intoxicated. Amazing huh? 😁
Susie the Little Blue Coupe is one of my kids and my favorite classic cartoons.
Omg you are so blessed to have found this vintage camper! These things are priceless historical artifacts...thank you so much for restoring it to its former glory! Beautiful job!
Been uk caravaning for 40 years I own a 30 year old classic whitch we use almost all year round touring. But WHATCHING your video it realy took my breath anyway. What a BEAUTIFUL JOB YOU HAVE DONE. thank you for sharing this with us caravan and camping enthusiast.
Wow! Amazing restore… nice that you kept the western theme alive, modernly updating it would have taken so much away. Incredible when you have the tools and more importantly the TALENT & SKILL what one can accomplish 👍
I thought this would be a mobile gym by the end! lol thank you for the inspiration Duke! I am slowly learning woodworking through the power of the internet and lots of failures. I love it! Despite all the bad in the world, it truly is a great time to be alive.
You and your wife did an amazing job on the trailer. I myself had only built small things out of wood, well in 2015-2017 i built a teardrop trailer and i have to tell you i did not know i was capable of building some thing on that level, people say it is the best looking one they have ever seen, what a great feeling.
Nice work. I'm working on a 1967 Nomad travel trailer. It's been close to 3 years now and still in the process. It's amazing how you have been able to restore it back to it's vintage look. 👍
Great video!! LOL, you restore my faith that on some of my side projects that I intend to get to later... "That it IS POSSIBLE" to get to later!!!
Looks fantastic! Great work DIY Duke, hope you get to enjoy it soon!
Very inspirational video! Thanks so much. I just found a 1967 Forester 16' "8-Sleeper" for $700 today (with 2 new tires) and it will need an entire new interior, so I appreciate the example & encouragement!
Beautiful…I love how you kept the original features.
It is GORGEOUS! I love how you restored it instead of doing a modern renovation.
A huge congratulations sir!! You done a fabulous job on bringing such a beautiful piece of history back to life. It looks absolutely amazing.
Wow. Nice job. I’ve schooled in building and now I am refinishing my whole old farmhouse. Slowly but surely. Very nice job
Wonderful! This is truly inspiring restoration!
Just watched the video. Love it! Great job on the restoration and I love how y'all decorated it! Can't wait to see the tour of the trailer.
Very 😎! I love what you have done and love how you are real about showing the original purpose of the camper.
Great accomplishment and loved the encouragement for peeps not be afraid to start small and try DIY projects. 👍
We need more DIY Duke videos 😀💪
It came out beautifully! Great job!
Beautiful! Wow! Great job!
Trailer looks awesome! What a great resto. I'm goad you kept as much original as you could, that's the best way to redo these things. Bravo.
I cant remember subscribing to this man bc he hasnt uploaded for so long
Suzy the little blur coupe🤗 What a joy it must have been to see your project take shape. Great, Great job ! We have shows for those old beauties around here.
Well when you got to it the results are excellent. Thanks for posting.
wow, very impressive. I think it's gorgeous. The inspiration for the decor was very smart and works beautifully. Way to go. It does seem like they truly built things to last decades ago, more so than they do now. Then again, you make a good point about the helpful people on youtube.
Wow, a beautiful transformation!!!
Your a very kind, funny, and inspirational man Duke. That you for sharing everything you have on CZcams. Both on this channel and buff dudes.
What a restoration! It looks awesome!
Thanks for sharing. Honest and inspirational.
Looks phenomenal! Good work!
Big Duke! Good to see you, brother, that restoration looks incredible! I totally agree with you that we live in a special time. I’m a lefty, and a more artistic type as far as natural proclivities go, but I have no excuse not to fix my own truck, or even mill my own lumber when there is a tutorial for just about everything. I intend on building your half rack after I’ve milled enough wood, so thanks for taking the time to make these videos, brother!
Thankyou 😀

Finally...someone restored a vintage trailer that actually still looks vintage. Great job.

Thank you for sharing your build and greetings from Superior Montana
You both have done an amazing job with this camper.
It's absolutely adorable. Amazing job on this camper.
Oh my goodness! My brother had suitcases like those when we were growing up - 50 years ago! I love it!!!
I have a 1971 Bell and getting ready to redo interior. Never done it before and it's intimidating.
What a great theme for the westerner ❤I would love that one for my western art business
Cool!
We made a mobile sauna from a similar size travel trailer with some friends years ago.
We didn't have much construction experience then and made some mistakes, so every year there has been something to fix.
Beautiful. So glad you kept that ice box. It looks fantastic. Im very particular about curtains lol, they just make the atmosphere.
Great job! Can't wait for the next how-it-was done video.
Beautiful!!!
Awesome! Thanks Duke! We all do better if we ALL do better. Don't Stop :D Thanks again!

This is great! Looks sharp
Great encouragement! Also, love the vintage luggage to go with it. :)
Looks like you did an absolutely amazing job
A canvas awning would look great that you can hook on & off & store inside your camper while traveling
Yes, definitely need that 😀
Very adorable ❤
Very, very nice work but how truly inspirational your words of encouragement are.
Nice job! Looks good!
You give me one ton of inspiration man! Thank you a lot, really!
I just found your video, and it gives me hope. We just bought a 1967(ish) 19ft kencraft trailer that is in a similar shape as your for $300, and plan on a full restoration as well!
Great project!
I so relate to your comment that projects can sit there on the to do list and never get their turn at bat (how's that for some metaphor mixing!?) I retired three years ago and like the proverbial cobbler turning my attention to my own kids' shoes, I started tackling projects on our old house. While the todo list continues to grow, I do bask in the glory of the completed list too.
Nice job, love it.
It is good to see the way you finished the trailer - it looks really nice now
Thank you
Awesome! Is on my bucket list, restore a camper.
Looks great, well done lad.
