I love the way the picture shifts from worn sprocket holes and the focus sometimes blurs from warped film. Truly authentic. Even movies in movie theaters of the 50s and 60s did this. Perhaps there is a better version of Oliver but I enjoyed this one.

I love this story going to beat the poor child down, for asking for more...after giving the children a one spoonful of soup, a piece of hard bread and nothing to drink...even though they could've just use the bowl for that sip of soup, l love these classic movies!!!

Dickie Moore provided the voice of Disney's Pinocchio. If you look closely at the child, you can see how the animated-character resembles the actor a little. The voice, however, clearly is recognizable as the puppet who wanted to become a real-boy---but not Oliver, though!

It's funny - the accents spoil it a bit. Since when did Oliver Twist have an american accent? 🤣. Still, they're great at rewriting history.

Too concise, too much off the story left out to empathize with the story and the plight of the main character. You have to already kmow the story to get it.

This has got to be the worst Oliver Twist movie I have ever seen and before any of you predictable idiots accuse me of thinking this version is shit because it's old, let me put the records straight in telling you all now that the age of this movie has nothing to do with it. You would have had bad movies then as you do today. The reason why this movie is so fucking awful to say the least is because it is so badly made production wise, it's actually unwatchable, but one needs to waste an hour of their lives watching this garbage in order to just believe how bad this film is made, the acting in wooden, the characters are totally out of place, especially with the artful dodger, in the novel the artful dodger is a child, only a little bit older than Oliver, but not that much older, yet in this film the man who plays the character is an adult who looks to be way up in his 30's and what is it with that stupid twitch he has?
The scenes are all wrong, the interior buildings are all typical of that of American architect, now don't get me wrong this movie is made in America, (I mean can't you tell by the wonderful English accents they are putting on? (!) ) BUT THIS IS SUPPOSE TO BE IN ENGLAND IN THE 19TH CENTURY FOR FUCK SAKE. They could had at least tried their best to make it look it was made in England, even the outside scenes, like the one where Oliver does tumble tosses to get a nickle is clear made in the American mid west somewhere, we do not have scenes like that in England, or anywhere in the whole of the island of Great Britain for that matter.
The scene that was in the novel where he meets his bully Noah Claypole and the undertaker Mr. Sowerberry was not in the version at all and the ending scene is nothing like the novel and let's not forget about the protagonist character himself, Oliver Twist.
In the novel Oliver Twist is a humble, quiet little boy who lack confidence with no guile, who has virtually zero self-esteem, not surprising since he was raised as an orphan in a workhouse with very little to eat and who was mentally and physically abused throughout his whole childhood, yet this child actor is playing a typical Oliver Twist who by today's standards would be seen as typical American. Cocky, confident, forward, brazen and stubborn.
The movie is just so badly made, it was cheaply made, the director couldn't be bothered with getting anything right at all in English history, it seems like to me that the director hated directing this piece of shit and wanted to get through with it as quick as possible without giving a flying fuck about detail, he just wanted to get it done and over with.. if I had to rate 0 to 10 of this movie, I would give it a 0.

Although you are right about a lot of things the scene with the undertakers was actually made and was in the film in its theatrical run. It was then cut for TV broadcasting.
