  • Enhancing movement with coreless motor, including self and easy fixing by means of economic adhesive removable putty. Additional detailing, including rain wipers, REC cabling and connectors and general additional varnishing. Models have been completely dismatled and cleaned carefully, essential operation, as the original grease hardenst through time, and makes movement impossible. Be aware of hint at 3:33 as the cleaning process makes everything work better, except the freedom of the wheel current collectors.

Nice job :) The loco seems quite noisy even after the motor upgrade, is that just the gearing of this old model? At first I thought it sounded like you're running with an old low frequency PWM controller.

Hi, thanks for the comment. Don't find it particuilarly noisy, maybe it is the recording which is too high. Consider also that the model and the mechanics come from the 70ies! Additionally the model has no rubber tyres, which would to some extent reduce the transmission of the noise.

@@jocksandme Yeah I appreciate it's old technology. I don't mind a bit of noise and in some respects prefer old models with brass gearing, I run quite a few N locos from the late 60s onwards as well as modern production. I've actually just picked up one of these that should be in very good condition (not arrived yet), I've always fancied one for the collection although my main focus is German N.

    Hi!
    Sorry for the dumb question…
How did you remove the body shell?
I have the same locomotive (used) but afraid to break it. I cannot find the manual anywhere.

Hi, the body is fixed by two small screws, accessible once removed the plastic cover on the roof. The covering, which is between the two pantographs, is fixed by four little clips to the roof itself. It may well be that when opening it, some of the clips break, as the plastic is old and has lost it's elasticity. On one of the models, I have re-fixed it with a small amount of patafix, that is not visible and permits reopening.
