Can't believe what they say about Yao. She won bronze with a fall, and without it she would have scored significantly higher than Komova and Wieber and taken the gold. I'm not saying that means she deserves the gold medal, but I think it shows she easily challenged for it (and the skill she fell on she is normally super-consistent).
Why are they talking as if Yao couldn't challenge for first or second? If she hadn't fallen she would have came first. This was a 3 person race, not a 2 person race.
My god, Viktoria Komova is so beautiful!
I have nothing against American commentators, it's just that they don't really have the right to criticize the other teams and only praise the USA team! Plus Yao did amazingly on vault, but the commentators were like 'she did fairly well' But I still adore the American gym team!!
I've been addicted since I was 10 after watching the 1984 Olympics and Im now 38.
Good for ya
Thanks for posting
Thank you so much
Elfi saying she (Koko Tsurumi) doesn't take your breath away? I'm sorry but those pirouettes and combination moves were amazing.
Am I the only one who doesn't care about the commentary and can enjoy the sport anyway? Some of you guys should practice ignoring it. It's possible.
i love this video!!
actually I discovered the reply button that day. Amazing stuff, reply buttons. You can now actually TALK to people on the internet!! You can even chat about totally unrelated stuff. Like, you can go to a gymnastics video and talk about, you know, reply buttons.
@IdaMarieOfficial I know! It is so awesome! Thank you so much to the uploader!
If you are talking about the US Gymanstics Team, every single person, except for Alicia competed on at least one event. Sabrina Vega comepted on Balalnce Beam, Jordan Weiber competed on all four events, McKayla MAroney competed on vault and floor, Alexandra Raisman competed on vault, balance beam and floor, and Gabrielle Douglas competed on Uneven Bars. S FYI the girls did do something they did not show all of the US footage.
I' ADDICTED TO WATCHING GYNASTICS NOW!!!
Just a note... Elfie Schagel, the female commentator, is not American. She is Canadian
Sorry madam but that leo is beautiful in my opinion. Morever, this is a gymnastics competition, not a fashion show.
so do i one time i was yelling at the screen because of the smart comments she makes!!! lol
yessir i did, around the same time you discovered youtube
Ana Pogaras had a lot of potential, but she was critisised by a lot of people (trainers too) that she din't work hard enough. No one can know exactly what happened there, but she retired when she was only 18 and she never wanted to discuss why. She just said: "I'm never going back there", while the trainer something like: "When someone doesn't like to respect certain rules and live in a certain system, you can not force them". It's pitty.....Catalina Ponor and her collegues were the same, fortunatelly Catalina came to her senses and started again after a break of a couple of years.
When a few people left for the same reason, there's got to be some problem with the system.
i find it amazing how Victorias hair stays in place!
It doesn't matter, she didn't have the amanar here- because she was recovering from injury. She tried but crashed every attempt in warmups so had to use the DTY. She did have the highest AA score of the quad in an international meet, until Gabby beat it in London by a point- and Komova herself beat her old score as well. She never received a perfect score for the vault- in 2010 her highest on it was a 15.7. McKayla got 16.233 for it.
They do get carried away and criticize other gymnasts- true, but the reason they don't bash the Americans is because they have such a higher difficulty than any other team. A little tenth of a point here or there isn't going to hurt them as much because most of their start values are much higher than everyone else and also at times better execution...
Yeah, the 2010 Youth Olympic Games. She did win the AA there, not denying that at all. Just her vault score, the highest score she got was 15.7 out of a possible 16.5. It was great, but not perfect.
Thank god for this comment, thought I was the only one...
these reporters are SO BIASED
oh right, thanks
In fact, it even says it when Komova is waiting '5.8 start value, Jordyn Wieber 6.5'.
Jordyn and Victoria's matching leo colors!
I feel like if I were vaulting, the camera zooming along right beside me would really psych me out.
That means they've attempted 12 routines and not made any major mistakes, either in practice or in competition. Out of 12 tries, they've had 12 successes, so they're 12 for 12.
Anyone else notice Ali Raisman's vault was not marked on the board-thing next to her before she went???
@snofagun1814 Anna Li was alternate (so didn't compete), but Gabrielle Douglas did 1 of those bars routines, the other one was Sabrina Vega.
Of course they are, its nbc
@snofagun1814 I'm guessing you're talking about Ana Li for one...they got medals because they are part of the team. The team officially consists of six competing members and one traveling alternate. They are all eligible for the team medal. Alicia Sacromone was also awarded a gold medal and she was already back in the states by the time the team final took place.
you know its interesting cause in 2003 the russian gymnast Svetlana won and Carly from USA got second but then in 2004 olympics their places switched, it will be interesting if that happens here and next year Vika takes gold
I miss the days when the USA girls wore red white and blue. Everything's about pink and purple glitter these days.
Yes, In team final's the best 3 go on each even't , and if one falls it counts..
@NF101wasntavailable hi hunny sorry i was talking about when the usa girls were on the medal stand - i didn't see 2 of the girls do anything? did they do the 2 bar routines that never aired anywhere? xoxo!
@MegaSpiderman5000 She vaulted! But she was more of a help in qualifying. She could have gotten them a higher score on UB and floor exercise in the team final, but she wasn't doing too well by the time the world championships came around, so she wasn't used. She was much better when the Chinese team was selected for the championships but sort of degenerated between then and worlds.
Okay shut up announcers come into the arena and show us how great YOU guys are
Not for team- that should obviously be red, white and blue, but it seems like the individual competitions they never wear their country's colors anymore.
I love Jordyn Wieber
@seanthefriendlywhale Yeah good point, haha I think Victoria Komova has the most to be upset about cause if she'd just stuck one more landing or put the foot in front on the beam double turn she would have won. I think there is an incredibly strong field of All-Arounders at the moment though, in 2007, Shawn Johnson was basically unchallenged for her gold, so excited for the AA next year.
six comments in a row, congratulations!
Yao could have won if she didn't fall! Her fall caused her for about 1.3-1.4 points, and the fall also rattled her in her beam routine :( she could have beaten jordyn and vika... But I love jordyn and vika as well! Jordyn has power, and vika has grace! Yao, I think... it's a mix of jordynvika :)
yes i did learn English yesterday, is it pretty good? what about you and YT?
wow! wish i could do thatx
Why Komov were not allowed to jump over 5 minutes? It was expected that it is morally broken! Jordin put a 0.2 score higher than the worthy, and Komov - tormented.
It's not fair!
They are fair, that's the thing. Some people simply can't put their biases away long enough to notice all the positive things they say about international athletes. I enjoy these commentators because they say it like it is without unnecessary sugar-coating and I've learned a lot about how the judges actually score because of them. And yes, you're right that of course they're going to focus more on USA athletes because this is a USA station!
if you don't like the american commentators, there are plenty of other news outlets that covered the world championship that are posted on youtube. sorry we're not sorry. bye.
They look stronger and like they're allowed to eat unlike many of the other malnourished gymnasts from other countries.
@bernardmvella yes it is true, Yao is amazing and without that fall she would have scored three tenths higher than weiber however, if weiber didn't have a major mistake she still would have beaten Yao but Yao could definitely contend for gold next year
for Haidu the Romainian, where did the deductions come from? I don't know much about gymnastics, so i'd appreciate it if someone could explain it to me
it looks six in a row but it's to different people, did you just discovered youtube yesterday?
i'm not hearing too much bias...they seem to be doing what they always do. Talk about the good and bad qualities of all the gymnasts. if they have problems they talk about it. sounds balanced. also america is really solid this year. we have a lot of gymnasts who are good on more than just 1 or 2 events which other teams are lacking. sooo is it biased when our scores are proving how good we are?
yeah baby
that's okay, you don't have to be a flower to post 6 times in a row, do one better than me and go for 7
Baha, actually the term caucasian refers to being from the caucasus mountain range in eastern europe :)
@snofagun1814 I'm assuming they competed in the qualification round when five gymnasts go up on each event. However, as long as they are on the team roster they get the medal. Just like Alicia Sacramone.
nice
Jiang yuyuan Was on the team And she didnt do anything!
@NF101wasntavailable did anna li actually performed on anything.. i dont remember seeing her on bars..
@violet46 She tore her ACL, at the Europeans I think.
I totally agree with cherrygirl016.
jordyn's routine was harder than komovas, so naturally she would get a higher score
Is Aliya Mustafina injured? I'm surprised she didn't compete here.
give examples please
To build up power and momentum to lift up and forward from the vault. In a normal, upright run, you would get nowhere near enough power to execute a vault well.
hey guys, ever think that this was aired in AMERICA which is why it sounds bias and why there are American commentators only speaking. I'm sure there were other commentators of different nationalities for their tv stations.
hahahha very funny
*sarcasm*
and yes they are
me tooo!
no they had same difficulty
it said
@MegaSpiderman5000 Next year. I think sometime in June or July.
they were right
except that I'm not a flower...
lol...any other country would say the same thing about their girls if they were commentating
Al why are you going up to touch the beam?
um... you do know they don't show EVERYONE
What exactly are the commentators saying that is so wrong?
out of curiosity... why do gymnasts run that way into the vault? it looks like they're lunging for it almost, not quite a normal run-- or is that just me?
@ItsNastiaFan101 actually jordyn is white and viktoria is russian
Say what you want about Elfi Schlagel, but she is usually right and usually very unbiased compared to that awful Tim Dagget.
Haha what? She talked mad crap about some transition from low bar to high bar and said nothing when Terin Humphries did it.
When Will they Annouce who is going to the Olympics
@realgymtalk Training! hehe
bars
who is doing their floor routine to saw music?!!!
what's new that happens in every sport
see all those dislikes yeah me neither
oh cool, now you can try replying 6 times in a row like me, we have many things in common, catch ya later
@monkeylova123456789 If you look at the difference between the podiuams though, any of the top 3 could have won this worlds, but Shawn was the only one who was going to win the 2007 worlds if you look at the podium. Yeah she wasn't miles ahead, but she was definitely the only one on the podium who could have gotten the gold. So compared to this worlds, I think she was unchallenged.
I know what comp you mean. She never did a perfect amanar at any comp though. Not sure we'l ever see her at her 2010 peak again, she's injured again now..
I prefer CBS's. NBC is very USA centered
? Jordyn had an amanar, Komova did not. Jordyn instantly had an 0.7 lead on Komova for that.
Elfi, seriously Mckayla only made it for vault? My be true but don't be mean
this sounds stupid but what do they mean when they say 12 for 12 or whatever? i'm english you see...
lol you obviously don't understand the new scoring rules. Komova could get a perfect score and she couldn't come close to Jordyn's score even if Jordyn fell. Because Jordyn's start value is higher meaning more difficult.
lol the media ruins the USA athletes and jinxes them. Wieber was supposed to be amazing and win the olympic AA gold, but doesnt qualify. Maroney was supposed to be the best vaulter in the world, but she crashes. The media and commentators should shut up or another athlete will go down.
Komova deserved the silver here. She made multiple mistakes. On beam, for example, she had a lower start score than Wieber and she didn't complete her double turn. So she judges downgraded it to a B. On floor she cowboyed her tuck saltos, didn't complete her double turn with leg at horizontal (downgraded into a B too) and fell off her memmel turn. Plus that double pike landing. Granted Wieber did do horribly in bars and stepped out of line in floor but overall she did better.
im gonna do gymnastics! it looks fun as soon as my last cheer season (wich is this season) im doing gymnastics
not a chance
