  • In this video, we are doing an exciting Boat trip from Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda, Florida over to the beautiful island of Cayo Costa. Cayo Costa is a boat access only State Park island located just minutes away from Cape Coral, Punta Gorda, and Pine Island here in Southwest Florida. We see lots of fish, stingrays, starfish and bird! Cayo Costa State Park is one of our favorite beach trips in the Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Punta Gorda area. Since it is boat accessible only, you can get a huge chuck of the island to yourself, and feel like you are on an 'Old Florida Deserted Island'. This is what Florida looked like 400+ years ago. We were able to find a secluded, private section of beach nestled between some mangroves and had a great day on the island. It is a magical place to visit and one that I hope you get the chance to experience. If you want to see more content like this, don't forget to SUBSCRIBE so that you don't miss any new videos.

Great little video. At 8:16, you said you’re at Lover’s Key? That threw me for a second.

Ha ha. Good catch. Yeah it surprised me too when I picked up on it myself :) I actually didn’t notice until after the video was published and my wife picked up on it. We had just been at lovers key doing a video the week before that, so it was a Freudian slip. I’m working on another video about the pelican Bay Area of Cayo Costa that we were hoping to go to in this video, and that should be out in a week or two. Thanks for watching, and let me know if I can ever be of assistance to you!

Was just there yesterday. We go to the sandbar just around the corner from where you were, ( upper left in your drone shots). Have you also hit the resturant at cabbage key? The next island south has the mainstay resturant (formally known as Barrnicle Phils), and Mangos. To the north is Gasparillla with South Beach resturant on the gulf side, Eagle bar and grill and the pink elephant.

Awesome. We were over by the Boca Grand Pass this morning and are probably headed back over tomorrow with the whole family. If you see us around, come say hi. Would love to make the connection. Thanks for commenting and hope to see you out there!

I'm going to be camping 2 nights at cayo costa this summer. Trying to find a place i can put my boat in and leave the truck and tailor overnights (safely) . Suggestions? I was looking at placida park boat ramp.

Check out the Pineland Marina on Pine Island. Very close to Cayo Costa and I think they do overnight parking that would definitely be safe. Have fun and let me know how it goes! I’m wanting to take my son but he’s only 2, so thinking he may be a little young to fully enjoy it. Thanks for watching and let me know if I can ever be of assistance to you!

Awesome vid...just moved to cape from Canada...loving it so far!..what's the length of your boat?

Rob. That particular boat was a 21ft bowrider. We are members of a boat club so we usually either take a 21’ bow rider, 24’ pontoon or 23’ center console. Thanks for commenting and I hope to see you out on the water! Come say hi if you see me around.

Just FYI, boats are way artificially high priced right now. Boat clubs have some big advantages. Lower cost, newer boats, different kinds depending on your day, multiple places to leave from and no mainatance costs/ headaches. Downside is that it isn't yours, you are limited to smaller boats, there are time restrictions, it isn't on your own dock in your own backyard, and you may not get one on popular weekends. But something to look into.

@@blaster-zy7xx I just picked up a 23 ft proline sport ...can't wait to get it on the water ...I actually got a good deal on it ... Right time right place I guess

@@Rob-ow3bx Good to hear. Mine is a 23 ft hurricane with a Yamaha. From Cape Coral area, there are many places to boat to. besides fishing there are great day trip destinations like downtown Ft Myers, Ft Myers Beach, Sanibel island, St James City, Captiva, Matlacha, etc. If looking for an overnight place, look into Tweenwaters on Capitva.

    No alligators by that island?

Hey Damon! No gators that I’ve seen, as they don’t spend too much time in salt water but there was one by Fort Myers beach earlier this year. Thanks for watching!
