    Thanks for posting, very detailed video! Seriously great video!
    Not ragging on your post. When checking fuses with the test light- check both sides of each fuse. One side is hot even when the fuse is blown. Check power to the orange wire at the fuel pump connector- it will be hot for a few seconds as the ignition is turned on.
    The clamp that holds the fuel pump to the mount bracket has a guide tab that sits in the center slot, this will make the clamp more stable. The fuel hose can be shortened, that would eliminate the hose pushing filter housing away from the fuel pump. When installing the fuel filter housing put a little o-ring lube on the new o-ring. This will just make it easier to push it back in place and not stress the new o-ring.
    Again, great video. Lots of great information!
    Getting ready to change my pump and it was good to see what is there prior to opening it up!

    I was trying to diagnose a problem on my bike, and I think the fuel pump is the problem... I stumbled across your video and had to laugh, because I am considering buying the Quantum pump and am replacing the pump on a 2011 Sportster 48. Love the video, thanks for making it.

      Right on! Mahalo nui. Be sure to take the gas lid off and turn on the ignition... if you don't hear the fuel pump engaging buzz sound that might let you know what the problem is. Good luck with it all..!!!

    To check fuses, you need to touch both sides of each fuse with TEST LIGHT. Both sides will illuminate your test light if fuse is good. Only one side will illuminate your test light if fuse is bad.... just saying

    Thx for a great video. My tank was filled with water base + gas due to the gas pump was empty and salesman forgot turning the gas pump off and I was the unlucky customer. The the bike sis not start at all after filling up and I must extracted to empty the tank.
    I refill with good gas and the bike started and running. However, the bike poosing power, popping a lots and occasionally engine light on, etc.
    I added some gas cleaner and it still hiccups, loosing power, popping , etc. I guess I will remove the tank and replace the fuel pump like you did.
    Do you have any suggestion? Thx

    Very nice video 👍🏻 I have problem with my Sportster and I think ( I am not sure ) that it’s the same things that I will have to change.. Stops suddenly when I am driving. Can you give me any advice on this. Thank you!

    • @islandspicehawaii
      @islandspicehawaii  Před 5 lety +1

      Like I said, in the video... I don't claim to be Mr. Motor cycle mechanic. With cars and motorcycles... start with air, gas and spark. So, maybe change the filter and fuel pump. Also change the spark plugs. But, it sounds like something sits on the bottom and when running gets pulled and clogs the flow. Try Sea Foam or a known good cleaner solvent safe to run through your bikes fuel system. Good luck!

    You'll regret installing a Quantum pump motor. Junk!

    • @islandspicehawaii
      @islandspicehawaii  Před rokem +1

      Thanks so much for your input. Its been a few years with zero issues. It actually seems like a stronger pump flow with the intake. Please share any suggestions...I'm definitely open to any recommendations as well as others viewing these videos.

      @@islandspicehawaii If you ever have to service that pump again, go with a simple $19 ebay refresh kit and if the Quantum motor gives out...and it will...get a Walbro.

    That is why harley is going down the tubes. just like the auto industry f88k the public buying their products. should have stayed with the gravity feed. lose the fuel injection and go back to the original workings of the harley. screw all that electronic bull shit. and bull shit is all it is. plus expensive.

      Couldn't agree more bro. Simple works. The 22re almost put Toyota out of business because it never had problems. Can't even find the damn engine under hoods now
