  • In this video my water tanks finally arrive and I unbox them and see what comes in the kit. They were purchased from CAK Tanks in the UK. In part 2 to follow I will be fitting the access hatches and water level gauges and installing them in (or under of course) the van.

    I ordered CAK tanks from Leisure Lines, I ordered the water level gauges at the same time. They fitted the gauges for me, which nice of them, considering it took 8 weeks to actually send the tanks. They won't answer the phone due to Covid, still can't get my head around that one. The drainage taps are absolute garbage. Enjoying the videos, keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing the finished camper.

    You should be thankful they didn’t answer the phone, you saved yourself from a life sapping experience. When I built my van 11 years ago a miserable old woman answered and flat out refused to give me any dimensions or tell me where they located under the van. She just said “they fit” and that if I wanted to know more I’d have to buy them and wait until they arrived. At the time they were the only supplier. If there had been an alternative they wouldn’t have got my money. As for supplying mounts made out of cheap unpainted mild steel that you have to clean up and paint yourself, and the crappest quality fittings, nice to see they haven’t improved after all these years. An absolute dogs arse of a company that are still in business in spite of themselves.

      In fairness to them, now the tanks are fitted they seem perfectly OK! Just a long wait, shoddy accessories, short pipes and impossible to contact with questions or for help. On the pipe front, how hard is it to offer some options when you order on length of pipe? I'm sure everybody would order a longer length, albeit at additional cost of course 'to be safe' !

      Wiltshire Custom Camper fully agree, the tank looks great and you shouldn’t have any issues with it which ultimately is all that counts but as you say, disappointing from the company. Sadly it seems there isn’t a great deal of competition with these so they can get away with p-poor customer service!

    I know this was a while ago now, but do you remember what length of depth gauge you fitted? The tanks are listed as 203mm tall, so (unless the plastic is 1.5mm thick or less) a 200mm wouldn't fit?

    • @wiltshirecustomcamper7203
      @wiltshirecustomcamper7203  Před 8 měsíci

      Mine if anything are a little short so I would definitely go for the 200mm, even if you need to pack it up a bit with an extra rubber washer or two.

      Hey Will. Watching your build as well, coming along nicely... the access hatches just came from eBay www.ebay.co.uk/itm/273010791892 I found there were alot that looked nice and big on the pics but in fact were too small to get your hand through. so look for min 5" is best. thanks for the comment and for watching, good luck with your build.

    sorry to ask but hope you can help me, im still waiting on my cak tanks, only been 4 weeks up to now lol, but i have started on my pc210 electrics install and need to order a probe for the water tank, do you remember the height you cut your probe to at all ? you have to order s aspecific size for the pc210 unit and cant just cut one to size , thank you still loving your videos and so looking forward to watching the shower/toilet fit :)

    • @wiltshirecustomcamper7203
      @wiltshirecustomcamper7203  Před 2 lety

      HI, I did not use the CBE probe but instead used a float style level sensor, follow this link: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08GP84ZBX/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 , i got the 150mm but it is a smidgeon short really but the 200mm is a bit long so if you want this style, look for a 170mm and it should fit lovely. the 150mm is not a problem but the gauge will read empty when it still has a good 10% to 15% of water in it. hope that helps in some way.

      I cant really remember I'm afraid but it was the 'kit' from CAK tanks that came with both tanks and all the tubing etc. have a look on their website for ducato kits.

    Can I ask how thick the plastic was on the CAK tanks?

    • @wiltshirecustomcamper7203
      @wiltshirecustomcamper7203  Před 2 lety +1

      You can ask! but i did not really measure it, all I can say was that the 'sturdiness' of them was better than I was expecting after reading all the negative press they get. they are actually alright and if only Leisurelines or CAK or whatever they want to call themselves realised that they have customers and treated them like customers and answered their phones and delivered in a sensible time frame they would probably be a respected company. they seem to be missing a trick here as they sell a lot of various stuff but everybody naturally drifts to Magnum Motorhomes just as I have for most of my purchases and it is not because they are cheapest, far from in some cases, but they answer the phones and delivery takes 1 or 2 days. simple really isn't it.

      @@wiltshirecustomcamper7203 You hit they nail on the head. Customer service is basically free if you put a hands free ear piece in. The reason I asked about the thickness of the plastic tanks is because I plan to build my own now. Not because it's any cheaper. It will probably cost me as much if not a bit more, to build my own tanks once iv bought the tools and materials.

    I do find it ironic that Chinese manufacturers are often berated for their quality and yet we accept the sort of service you've experienced as a matter of course. Utterly appalling.

      During lockdown I could understand it, but now, in August, there is just no excuse for not answering the phones at all. If a representative from the amazing Magnum Motorhomes is reading this, just one thing: SELL TANKS....

  • @GrumpyGarry121
    @GrumpyGarry121 Před 2 lety

    I won’t be ordering these tanks. Any company that won’t answer the phone won’t get my business.

    • @wiltshirecustomcamper7203
      @wiltshirecustomcamper7203  Před 2 lety +1

      Just tried the phone line again now (24/09/21 - 13:40) and still the same answer message from back during lockdown. they must be losing customers hand over fist, which is a shame as the sell alot of very handy stuff and I really do wish them well, but they need to now return to normal operations as every man and his dog is building a campervan at the moment and they should be making hay whilst the sun is shining, so to speak. Especially when Magnum Motorhomes answer the phone every time, are very helpful and you get next day DPD delivery, so they are up against strong competition for our business and if Magnum started selling tanks, they would be in trouble.....
