I liked how AirDog allows flow through, or suck-through if the pump fails. It’s super quiet and I’m totally happy with mine. It’s been on for over a year now as my daily.

Just put one on my ‘05 Duramax. Have about 2500 miles on it now. Works great and was a easy install. I would also recommend a Ohio Diesel parts sump. I bought my air dog from Ohio Diesel parts and the sump. I worked with Riley Davis and I can’t say enough good about his customer service. Great guy! Great products!

WC Fab makes a bracket for the FASS Lift pumps, which raises the overall height, hides it in a more discrete location & uses 2 bolts to secure to the frame. I just recently installed my FASS. No issues. It was a hard decision between FASS & Air Dog.

The only issue I had installing mine was trying to get the quick connect off the tank. It took 3 guys, multiple types of fuel line tools and a few days. I lowered one end of the tank to get both hands on the connector. Then it popped off. I wear XXL gloves so it was tight. If the connectors would come right off it's easy just lying on the garage floor and about 4 hours. The most challenging part was trying to wire up the flow sensor and keeping it looking clean. I had a few small leaks after it pressurized but tightened them up.

Hey bro just outta curiosity I have the 2011 lml stock. When putting a lift pump do you have to remove the CP4 and plug all the lines and unplug the electrical that goes to it if any goes to it. And would it said a check engine light. Cp3 is definitely a big consideration about financially is an ideal for me right now so I'm really considering a left pump.

After your video on the FASS pump I installed a FASS 95GPH on my 06 LBZ 3500 DRW with 89000 miles. It's mostly stock other than 3" intercooler pipes, 3" down pipe and towing tunes. I'm using it to tow a 12K lb 5th wheel RV trailer. I've never had an issue. You don't really say why you changed.

      Yes definitely

    • @saltysteel3996
      @saltysteel3996 Pƙed 4 lety +5

Performance wise it is not needed for a stock truck.
But for saving the life of your CP3 pump and injectors then it is definitely needed!
Once it is installed I would delete the factory fuel pump housing all together or get the CAT filter adapter plate. The stock filter setup is restrictive to the fuel flow.

I have a stock 06 and it is worth it. There's no lag when accelerating, drivability is better.
I've had it for 2 years now. I think I might have to turn it down since I'm stock but not sure.

Yes. Don't go big. A kennedy lift pump would be perfect for that. There is also a stock filter base replacement with a built in lift pump that looks pretty cool too.

Here is my personal experience with airdog.
Installation was somewhat painful (it's not clear on their site which model required tank removal and drilling so I ended up with the one that did even though I don't need any extreme tireburning performance) but doable.
The first thing that happened upon start, check engine light came on with the P0089 dreadful rail pressure code. Quick search online revealed that it was a common problem because the pump comes from the factory poorly calibrated and line pressure is not desired 7-8 psi. You might wonder why the hell couldn't they set it. I sure did. Needless to say, you need a scanner to check code. I used to be in the automotive inspections field so I do.
No instructions on how to deal with it were found in the installation manual or on their site so I called tech support.
Apparently, I bothered busy people in the middle of something important - the guy was less than nice. Not even at walmart level nice. In any case, I learned that I needed to disconnect the line, unscrew the nipple and cut 1 or 2 coils from the valve spring. The above procedure is to be done more than once to get desired pressure. You might wonder why they did not provide a simple adjustment screw on the pump body. For that kind of money. I sure as hell did.
There are two issues with this procedure. First, every time you remove the line, you get sprayed with fuel. Second, you need means to measure pressure at the filter. I do have fuel pressure gauge but threads in the bleeder plug happen to be metric while none of numerous adapters that came with the gauge were. To make your life even more miserable, standard-to-metric adapters are not readily available so I had to cut threads on a standard adapter and it worked but leaked. Not nice.
3-4 unplugging-unscrewing-cutting-measuring-plugging-screwing sequences and I got a little over 8 psi. Everything was fine and dandy for a few months. Probably because I am a Toyota man and rarely use this truck for firewood, and other heavy duty household chores, and only put about 500 miles on it since pump installation.
Imagine my excitement when the CEL came on yesterday with the same lovely code. Now I have a lovely perspective of going through the same adjustment procedure but this time at freezing temperature. What could be more pleasurable than being soaked with diesel fuel? Being soaked while freezing.
Now, have good luck with this pump. And if you don't have the equipment I mentioned, you need a LOT of luck.

Lift pump probably nice but it's not a substitute for low quality diesel fuel that doesn't meet specifications for diesel lubricity. Lack of lubrication is the cause of injection pump and injectors failure. Is factory filters pure garbage?
