People trying to correct saying feel but not being able to feel getting shot wouldnt matter since you would still die. It should be " I'm Gonna Pretend You didn't try that" or something
But then it would cheapen the gravity line as it becomes debatable whether he actually used the line before or not. I do think for the other not-so-canon missions the freedom to choose should be present. Maybe we'll get something like that in GTA 6 with branching storylines.

It would have been so sick if they programmed that into the game. The story can still play out the same way, but that would have been such a badass thing to be able to do.

Same sort of thing happens in johns final mission in RDR1. Even if you could mark every person there in deadeye, it makes a few of them invincible to everything. Even explosives and fire.

i find it interesting that Dutch actually draws his gun and has your back in the fight. it’s almost like Rockstar programmed him to have your back but due to the scripted sequence you can’t kill that one dude.
Originally there was an option to have companions roam around the world with you, which would mean they’d defend you in battles and such, this stuff carries over into missions.

I think it's insulting to even use "design" to exemplify what Rockstar does in their games. They don't actually build a setpiece or anything, they simply makes a tunnel were you go from A to B. I played Horizon before Red Dead 2, then Control... it's insane how Red Dead feels so antiquated regarding gamplay, but at the same it feels incredibly advanced regarding everything else

Because the combat actually works in these games, it's not like the horrible shooting and cover mechanics of rockstar games. You can even go further in the past, Shadow of the Colossus is another game were the setpiece is not really scripted, the epic factor is completely dependable of the player, not a rail section that you follow like a pet dog

I think they didn’t do it because it changes the story a bit. Arthur and Dutch jumping off the cliff and then Dutch pulling Arthur to the shore is something that the game might use in the future as in Arthur or Dutch mentioning this moment.

i remember earlier in a mission related to this one with Colonel Favours. the moment Arthur let go of his hostage i went straight into Dead Eye and shot the Colonel only for the game to tell me that i shouldn't have done that and gave me a game over. if they don't want you to hurt a particular character then they could just disable you from shooting them instead of giving you a game over.

I understand that the missions have to have some form of structure, and scripting, it's just so weird going from the overworld, where random events can be tackled in any way, shape, or form, and there's so many peices of additional diologue referencing your choices, to scripted missions where going left, instead of right fails the mission and sends you back to the begining.

he just has as many bullet holes as john in the end of RDR1, his head popped like a grape, his other limbs vaporized, but the truth is, the gun was the real sniper.
I spent an hour doing this. I managed to form a method where you can kill everyone including the dude at the top using dynamite arrows, and after getting it after the hour of trying, Dutch just jumps off the cliff to his death and you have to restart again.

I think it's insulting to even use "design" to exemplify what Rockstar does in their games. They don't actually build a setpiece or anything, they simply makes a tunnel were you go from A to B. I played Horizon before Red Dead 2, then Control... it's insane how Red Dead feels so antiquated regarding gamplay, but at the same it feels incredibly advanced regarding everything else

Because the combat actually works in these games, it's not like the horrible shooting and cover mechanics of rockstar games. You can even go further in the past, Shadow of the Colossus is another game were the setpiece is not really scripted, the epic factor is completely dependable of the player, not a rail section that you follow like a pet dog

I think they didn’t do it because it changes the story a bit. Arthur and Dutch jumping off the cliff and then Dutch pulling Arthur to the shore is something that the game might use in the future as in Arthur or Dutch mentioning this moment.

i remember earlier in a mission related to this one with Colonel Favours. the moment Arthur let go of his hostage i went straight into Dead Eye and shot the Colonel only for the game to tell me that i shouldn't have done that and gave me a game over. if they don't want you to hurt a particular character then they could just disable you from shooting them instead of giving you a game over.
@@frostsoul4199 it's kind of weird isn't it? I kept getting game overs for not taking the exact corect route during missions a fair amount. I understand that the missions have to have some form of structure, and scripting, it's just so weird going from the overworld, where random events can be tackled in any way, shape, or form, and there's so many peices of additional diologue referencing your choices, to scripted missions where going left, instead of right fails the mission and sends you back to the begining.

I spent an hour doing this.
I managed to form a method where you can kill everyone including the dude at the top using dynamite arrows, and after getting it after the hour of trying, Dutch just jumps off the cliff to his death and you have to restart again.

In which there are multiple ways of completing a mission. These days Rockstar games do very scripted missions that punish players for thinking outside the box.

Same thing with Lenny's death. Even if you catch them beforehand, the men who kill Lenny are invincible until Lenny dies.
It would be a nice touch if while the men fall to the ground there revolver goes off and kills Lenny. Now I dont think that would be a proper death for Lenny, but a nice touch.
The moment I saw that door opening, I went into deadeye, fired at the guys (headshots) but they didn’t die and killed Lenny. I killed them then for real and though I just fucked up and got Lenny killed. Only later realised it was scripted lmao
The sniper in the epilogue is also invincible until you get a certain distance from him. It's infuriating.
I NOTICED THIS TOO. I literally tried to save Lenny but getting into deadeye mode and shot guys like 19 times each and they still killed him :(
