Happytime Murders subverted my expectations... I expected it to be terrible but it was actually FUCKING terrible.
More like a Greg The Bunny ripoff.
Why did the studio go out of their way to keep Brian Henson attatched, then force terrible reshoots on him (That's about 90% of the crude out of place humour) to the point that Brian has told like every interviewer this isnt the film he signed up to make.
Several script reviewers have said the original script is really really good. Reminiscent of Roger Rabbit. Whereas the new version is like a bad Meet the Feebles, crude and kind of meandering with no depth.
I kind of hope it bombs hard enough that they give Brian a chance to release the original cut that's closer to the screenplay.
I remember seeing the trailer for the first time and thinking “oh hey, what a fun idea! That could be really cool!” And then more trailers came out... and the comedy was a little eh... and then the trailers were FUCKING EVERYWHERE and it became clear that they were banking on making as big of an opening weekend as possible, because God knows word of mouth would drive it into the fucking ground after that.
I thought it looked kind of like Avenue Q, so I was interested. But it really was awful.
“Hey guys, we made a movie in the style of Jim Henson’s puppets... but it’s totally not for kids! See what we did there? It’s ironic because Henson’s puppets are usually associated with kids’ entertainment, but this ISN’T for kids! We made these child friendly looking puppets to adult things like swear and kill and fuck each other! So funny, right guys?”
That’s pretty much the mindset behind that movie.
I wonder if Tom Cruise will be producing the spinoff, Mission Impossible: Fallout: New Vegas
Ring-a-ding baby!
after making mission Impossible: fallout 3, a hollow guise of the idea of the original in a new format, it will be a welcome return to the fun spectacle of well constructed set pieces
Waguligi don't forget oblivion
*slide whistle*
*Big Iron plays in the distance*
"Send more Nukie tapes"
They knew what they were doing...
Mike is a goddamn national treasure
*Susan
I think you meant to say Rich Evans
I guess this should be called "Quarter in the Bag"?
More like "Half-assed in the Bag" *slide whistle noise*
Eighth on the Plate
More like "Just the tip in the asshole"
BallTech >> Why, did Bryan Singer show up?
"A sloppy handjob during my

My life has meaning again.
Ditto
Jokes on you, life only has the meaning you grant it
My Doct'a keeps givin me those Red Letter Media pills and it sure does the job at curing my crippling depression
But only for another 22 minutes :(
Yayy my life is un-terrible!
I love watching 2 grownup people talking about movies I will probably never see
They watch them so we would never anyways
That's the appeal, yep.
Same
Darren Forbes You mean 'They remember it so we don't have to'?
Seriously though I think almost noone watches RLM for actual recommendations. I had already seen trailer of Thoroughbreds and didn't want to watch it because it looked sad and depressing.
I watch Half in the Bag only for Jay’s laugh and Mike’s obscure Star Trek references
So say we all.
J S hahaha
The fact that you didn’t mention Rich’s Laughter makes me quite suspicious of you. What did you say your name was again?
I'm glad you have Gremlins arms now, I expect to see them in every episode. Thank you
John O'Connell the things I do for love? Eh? *proceeds to tighten ball gag & strap on*
I love how they just leave them on the floor.
Djinnaz 007 I cringed a little. They should put them in a display
@@alexsilva28 In a Best of the Worst episode we that they keep them on a shelf under a leaky ceiling.
I love that.
These rapid fire episodes are great. The longer episodes are also great. Everythings great. You're great also.
That's great
This comment is great.
Its gonna be great
Know what else is great? The wall of China.
Was that Molly speaking?
When they make the Oscar for Best Jason Statham Impression, it will go to Mike.
Pepitobenito Wait, they haven't made that already?
It sounded like Keith Flint from Prodigy lol
He should have said cellar instead of basement!
@@SR-fw4yy yeah i thought this immediately but the precious Wisconsinites are forgiven.
I liked this comment maybe 2 years ago. And I'm back. And almost liked this comment again. 🥲
Plinkett - "send more nukie tapes!!"
Ahhh... To think of their ultimate destiny!
More _Nukie_ tapes. You got it!
icemachine79 is Nukie tapes replacing Night Court???
Everyone send Happytime muders(when it comes out on blu ray) instead of Nukie just to piss of jay
Dump trucks full of fucking nukie tapes
Speeking of which how do you send something to thier PO box from Amazon
Classic insider trading. They are going to watch it on Re:View, then sell their Nukie tape stockpile on EBay.
We’re still waiting for the box office predictions recap, guys.
aegisgfx They only do odd years apparently
28:31 for anyone who came from the other video, CZcams broke the timestamp link.
thanks my g
RIP Anton Yelchin. Such a shame that such a great actor died so young.
Christian Changer are they pronouncing his name correctly? I always heard it as Yel-kin.
It just almost seems like a bit because they pronounced every other actor in that movies name wrong.
Yelchin it is.
how did he die?
@@likeastarbaby A freak accident. He was crushed by his car while trying to open the gate to his possesion. The breakes failed or something.
@@Gew219 Oh no thats sad :(
Everyone send them copies of Happytime muders instead of Nukie
But it could be the new nookie
Just commenting to help manipulate YT's algorithm. Love you guys
Have they made it on the trending page before?
They make it on the Trending page with every HITB :)
Word
Good idea stolen. Thanks.
Just so you know that was FAKE NEWS and is not actually a thing...
I really like Jay's shirt, that's a good shirt
A really good shirt
Very cool
Waifu shirt?
Indei get outta here i dont like knowing we watch the same youtube content.
I want one
Split Witch Girl is a good actress. Even though her eyes are far apart like a hammerhead shark, I like her.
Poisonedblade well she’s half Chinese
gerrytol, Thanks I had no idea.
She's half Splice
Shes really half Chinese?
Sammyyam half Siamese
"Hey guys, we got these props from an American cult classic."
"Yeah just chuck em on the floor and leave em there for the rest of the shoot."
My thought exactly 😂
Every time jay says 'this exorcism' it sounds like ' the sexorcism' it's great
Oh, I thought I was just in the gutter. I mean I am, but this makes me feel less bad about it.
Now that makes me wanna hear that White Zombie album La Sexorcisto again.
That's what happens when you have surfboards for front teeth.
I know, I keep playing that part over and over as I jack off.
I was just looking for this comment, ye I kept thinking "did he right after this watch a porno called the sexorcism and is getting them mixed up?"
I love that Gremlins 2 is getting it's much delayed appreciation.
@@TheABElia I saw Gremlins 2 before the first movie, when I was a kid. The whole movie was imagination fuel for me.
Mike's Jason Statham sounds like Prince William's had a stroke.
Is Mike going to start referencing Ghost Adventures episodes that vaguely relate to a review topic now
ghost trek!
Zak Baggins on the next BotW? Please?
The spirit realm: the final frontier!
Ghost Trek II: The Wrath of Con
Ghost Trek III: The Search for Squat
Can't wait for Mike to catch us up on all the Star Trek references we missed.
I love how Jay let's Mike have his little Ghost Adventures obsession
"your twenties your alive and you feel great"
I'm 23 and still waiting for this to happen.
I'm 25 and I feel like I felt that from 20 to 24 and now it's almost over and I didn't even realise it.
24, never happened to me as well
Y'all sound pathetic
Thank you for the upload. My life is temporarily no longer un-terrible.
Wouldn't that mean it is terrible
Not necessarily. "Un-terrible" means mediocre. Not great, but not terrible. So his life could be either terrible or great due to the upload. Perhaps we'll never know...
Watch "Parasocial Relationships" by strucciMovies
The highest praise from my father is "not too terrible".
Dont you mean "un-terrible"?
Your dad is Mike Stoklasa?
Well, you were stuck on an island for 20 years. That's not great, but it's not too terrible.
mike saying the words "photograph" and "ghost" gives me life
Mission Impossible being Tom Cruise's Geteven is the best way to put it. Bravo.
If Neil Breen and Tom Cruise are doing basically the same thing...how is that not a real recommendation for Scientology?
God I love mike talking about ghosts
No review of the instant classic "The Wine Tasting" by Ruin Johnson?
You really subverted my expectations.
@@RisingBeast00
The joke
Your head
No, u r.
But what if demons actually sound like manipulated audio?
Keep asking questions. The truth is out there
Tom Kearns, I thought the same thing lol Example: if (real) possession causes you to levitate off the ground, would you watch a video of it and say it’s obviously a special effect?
@@RoyAnderson Yes because levitation is physically impossible.
*X-files theme
The biggest deception the Devil ever did was to make demon's voices sound like manipulated audio
SEND MORE NUKIE TAPES HE COMMANDS IT
If The Meg isn't in part 2, I'm gonna DIE
0% chance they saw that.
Spoiler alert: you're gonna die anyways.
Just like everyone poops, everyone dies.
I'll be happy if they put out a part 2
This video is the spark to light the fire.
how ember-assing
Mike's Statham accent is the spark to light the fire
I now need Tom Cruise to remake Geteven. Thank you, Jay.
Mission Impossible: Geteven
Knightfall182 Missionimpossible
They digitally edited John DeHart’s mustache
Rich Evans is the spark that will light the fire of my rebellion. The one in my pants, a pants rebellion if you will.
More Jason Statham impressions please!!!
8:30 Tom Cruise is not new to producing. He has produced every single Mission Impossible film as well as The Last Samurai, Vanilla Sky, Jack Reacher, and others.
gaming
Thomas Wiseau rise up
I wish Zac Bagans will make an appearance on half in the bag.
The Oscar categories Mike suggests, like best fight scene, totally existed on the MTV movie awards back when lisa kudrow hosted. It was great and someone should carry this on. Best dramatic pause.
Another Magnolia reference. Admit it, Jay, you *love* that movie. One of the best rainy day / snow day movies ever.
It's my least favorite PTA movie, but I still love it to death
When is saw a new red letter media video, I DIDN'T CLAP. Did I subvert your expectations?
I really enjoyed Fallout, you rarely see good action anymore. Real cars/bikes/etc doing real things, you can tell the difference between real stunts and a computer game.
The subplot where Tom Cruise walked 50 miles to assassinate Mathew Perry in his own casino was fantastic
WHY WONT JAY TALK ABOUT TWIN PEAKS THE RETURN
YES!!! Illuminati confirmed!!
No, really though, it was so fricking good and I want Jay and Josh to do a follow up to their Fire Walk With Me re:View.
*Sees Half in the bag*
*Smashes screen to watch it ASAP*
They're sitting on the wrong side..
They are subverting excpectations!
I knew something was off
Jay doesn't give Tom Cruise enough credit...He was amazing in Born on the fourth of July, Rain Man, Tropic Thunder...He can really act.
Tyler Olson This is true.
No he isn't, in all those movies he still is just Tom Cruise.
Eyes wide shut is the only movie he wasn't tom cruise in
He played a character in Interview with the Vampire, sort of. I like that scene where he's playing piano as a zombie and explaining how he got eaten by alligators in the third person.
@@BLY99 "No he isn't, in all those movies he still is just Tom Cruise"
That's lazy criticism, sure that can be said for like Dwayne Johnson, but also some great ones as well, such as Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra, Jack Nicholson, Nicholas Cage.
Tom Cruise over his career is somewhere in between, Very Good and good enough. I'm not bringing up his Tough guy movies however. I'm speaking of a Lawyer in a few good men, or The Firm, or cocky fun guy in Top Gun, Cocktail, Risky Business or his Sci Fi moves.
Just because he grew into an older douchy weirdo, doesn't take away his entire career, unless you want to be deliberately biased against little people.
I love red letter media. Also, it broke new ground
No love, ~you~ broke new ground.
Each shot is so dense.
@@MrBallTech stop, I can only get so hard
it took 12 years to make!
They're the spark...
When I saw the RLM reference comment I clapped! I KNOW WHAT THAT IS!
Sabian Lawley I’m glad to know there are smart people in the comment section too
Temmie Plays! comment gave me the 'beetus.
I thought they stopped watching movies? Half in the Bag was just going to be them drinking and watching Night Court tapes.
These catch up episodes are my favorite. It's great watching them talk about films they actually wanted to see
Booty Call 2 is better than Booty Call 3, but Booty Call 2 isn't canon.
I feel like Booty Call 1 was more memorable than the sequels.
What about The Last Booty Call: A New Hope?
Psssht. You're just pissed that Booty Call 2 didn't match your headbooty.
I seem to remember Rich being asked to review the series and his response was that he didn't need to watch them because he lived them.
It was made by Canon
Mike is shockingly attuned to female attitudes and emotions as we age and transition through life stages. I wouldn't know about being a mom or any of that junk, but seeing your youth slowly slip away as you die on the inside is definitely a relatable feeling.
24:19 i think i can speak for the entire UK when I say this is the finest mockney pisstake known to man
It broke new ground for realz!
Really happy to see them talk about American Animals and hear Mike recommend it! Absolutely loved that film when I saw it in theaters and loved it even more on a recent re-watch.
All that's left is for them to talk about Upgrade...
25:57 and again 26:06 Am I actually hearing sexorcism or has Jay finally corrupted my mind
he says "his" and "this" before exorcism which makes it sound like sexorcism
Maybe he's a GWAR fan and mistaking Sexorcism for Sexecutioner
And now I need The Sexorcist to be a real movie featured on BotW
Time to go back to work.. Red Letter releases new video. Time to extend the lunch hour
Mikes attempt at a Jason statham impression is all anyone ever needs
As always... RLM is the best thing on CZcams.
Tim Cruise was great in Magnolia.
Just as Neil Connery was great in Operation Double 007
@@jhonnyappleseed1786 It has extremly strong acting especially from Tom Cruise. He should have won the Oscar that year.
He was brilliant.
ahh... the feeling when you're browsing old RLM material in the hopes that something might surprise you and a new vid drops. Score!
Been watching and growing with these dudes for like six+ years and to this day nothing gets me more excited than to see a new RLM video has been released. I will cry harder at the death of these men than my own mother and I love my mother with all of my heart.
IMDb lists 6 people as the writers of The Mummy (2017): David Koepp/Christopher McQuarrie/Dylan Kussman/Jon Spaihts/Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet. Don't put all the blame on McQuarrie, you hacks!
I was sad because the video was near the end, but then I read "Part 1 of 2". It seems I'm living another day, boys
I'm so glad you guys talked about American Animals! I've been hoping someone I'm subscribed to would talk about it
I finally caught up on every episode of Half in the Bag, i've been binging on it for weeks
I love these videos for the main reason that it shows me how many films I have to catch up on...also for the random Star Trek and cult film references.
You guys should do like comedic reviews of movies
Kevin Matta whoosh
It’s so dense...
Imagine if they played out of work VCR repair men. It would be good satire that might break new ground
Well, shit. Now if they do, they've gotta pay you royalties for the idea. Way to ruin it.
Nevermind. All you rlm fans come across as a bunch a non pussy getting nerds recycling old as fuck memes that even the rlm guys hate. Suka la mink.
Another movie that mixes documentary recreations with the actual people interviewed is Bernie, from 2011 directed by Richard Linklater. Not sure if ya'll have talked about that before, but it's really good.
Robert Muir how long did that one take to make
That's the one starring Jack Black, right? I loved that one!
Jack Black is phenomenal in that, one of Linklater's best too
Thank you guys for the reviews
Mikes Jason Statham impression is flawless
Yes! I love these catchup videos!
Mission impossible was an excellent spy movie.
I just binged all these catchups all the way to 2013, and now this comes out🤤🤤🤤😂
Just recently saw "Searching" and I would recommend it. The cinematography style was unique and it kept me interesting the whole way through
3:40 Jay channeling Jack there for a second.
11:24 once again...Chris McQuarrie really wasn't the writer of the Mummy. He did some rewrites...but On M:I - Fallout he produced, wrote entirely himself, and directed. It was his movie. So to imply the Mummy was his fault would be mostly innacurate.
i couldn't have been more pleased with deadpool 2. great characters and new set pieces for action. loved it.
Digging these catch-up vids!
I hope part 2 will be as good as Gremlins 2, you hack frauds
Yes, thank you
Preciate it guys, now its time for my 2018 catch up part 1
Love these year catch ups.
Nothing for the Death of Stalin ?
Spoiler alert, dude! Jeez!
We still have part 2 to hope for.
Hooray for the Death of Stalin Expanded Universe!
aegisgfx only the good die young :(
That really old movie Empire Strikes Back.
@@ThreadBomb I was just going for the Spidey reference. But Mike's sense of humor is very dry.
You guys have had great energy lately, the whole crew, keep it up.
American Splendor is one of my top 10 favorite films of all time. Love the comics, too.
"ALIENS" was the best (unplanned I believe) sequel ever made!
id still want to watch gremlins 2 as my last movie on earth and not aliens if i had to choose between the two.
ultimately i prefer feel goods before i go.
29:30 That's what Brian Singer said :/
TIME STAMPS! THANK YOU!
I need part 2 more than anything in my life
So the problem with Deadpool 2 is that it doesn't subvert your expectations?
So, "Tully" was written by an ex-stripper-ex-blogger ex-advertising-copy-writer who also did one okay amusing movie, "Juno" and one not-so-okay genre movie (Horror), "Jennifer's Body". She also wrote the "Young Adult" movie mentioned in this mini-review, which I haven't seen. Looks like she does better at the somewhat twisted (female) character driven pieces than traditional genre films.
It didn't do that badly on rotten tomatoes, so it wasn't universally disliked. The general consensus is that the the director dropped the ball. The dialog was good, the humor worked, but as a horror film it was as best mediocre.
it was also, basically, the story of Ginger Snaps.
Jennifer's Body was horrible, its worst than the song Jennifer's Body by Hole, Courtney Loves band. I remember watching because my GF wanted to watch it, we both hated it.
I haven’t seen a film like Flower or Tully in a long while.
Also, I should finally check out Ingrid Goes West, which you mentioned in your previous round up. Thanks!
Watched this in November...missed it, came here Jan 1 and watched it again
