Whenever I pot a new sans. I tie a soft cotton shoe lace around the whole plant. They love being compact and will grow straight and never get floppy. It also makes it much easier to divide them. Of course I never do this to the smaller hahni ones! My plants look great and stand straight up like soldiers! Thanks for all the great info! Take care, Rev. Jackie 😊❤
snake plants are the coolest
love that you talk about more accessible, easy to find plants! Other CZcamsrs usually don't seem to appreciate the basic plants!
I now have become addicted to plants kingdom and your channel as well :)
I have now snake plant not more than 7 hours and 7cm height of a clay pot with a hole and a mix of peatmoss and perlite
I wish as much as it is expensive here in Egypt to get it grow to the ceiling, as I found that for each 10 cm of height the price is doubled.
I wish to have a trip inside the brain and roots of the plant and fulfill all of their requirements:)
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you show us all how to propagate the Snake Plant in water. I’ve tried this but the cuttings rotted long before it had chance to root. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi! I am watching you from Singapore. Ever since I found your channel, I watch almost everytime.
You are a good teacher and very informative. So thanks
I just wanted to add for people checking the comments for this stuff (I looked but didn’t find anyone else talking about it): in my experience with this plant, letting it callous is imperative to not experiencing nearly half of my props from rotting.
I was doing 3 days, but increased to 4 or 5, because it was still around 30% loss.
Since upping it, I haven’t loss any of my water props, I also notch all of them as they suggested.
I’m now at a point where My first wave of props are ready to be switched to soil, and I’m going to be trying a technique where you slowly add soil to the water then over time reduce the amount of water. The theory is it gives them time to put out appropriate roots, again reducing the amount of loss in the transfer.
So True. Thank you.
Always great Program And Presenter.
Regularly learning from your videos....complete information....best teacher in gardening goes to you.....post new videos at short intervals....thanks.
It’s been four or more months for me!! I change my water once a week after wiping the brown end that’s in the water …no roots! I’m going to cut that V shape on one of my plants (I have 5) and continue to wait for roots🥺🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️. Thank you for explaining clearly.
I pulled out one leaf with a mushy bottom and no roots from an otherwise healthy plant with new growth. I just watched your video and decided to use your second method to propagate. Thank you so much. As usual, simple and informative.
Mine too. What should be done?
Very helpful video!
Thank you for being so thorough in every video! VERY helpful!
Thanks! Great info!
I love your channel! Thank you!
I agree. Very good explanation!
Such a comprehensive presentation! Thanks!
Excellent! Many thanks!
Another expertly delivered content. Invaluable!
I just planted a tall plant like he is showing with the root. I had to use a moss pole just to stabilize it until it developed a larger root system as it will tip out of the pot. The others that had root rot I put in to water. But I'm going to re-cut in to a V as he recommends. Very good advise.
Awesome video, I have a Laurentii that has a leaf I want to propagate. Thank you for the great help and tips. 👍👍
Awesome! A new video!
Very nice video
Finally an honest real source that tells you how long it takes. I've had one in water two months. I'm trying to save cuttings from a snake plant that had root rot. Six months is a long time. They aren't that expensive. Not where I live.
It took mine a few weeks. I then planted in soil now it has 4 sprouts!! Love it
SO HAPPY you made a video about this!! What a relief to have a better understanding for Sansevieria propagation. Thank you!😁
Everything I wanted to know about Sansevieria propagation! Thank you!
Sooo helpful!!! Love your videos and all of the information you share!
What a simple and perfect explanation
I am def going to try this!🌿❤️
As usual very informative 👏👏🙏🙏 Tack tack.
Thank you for your detailed instructions.
Thank you for your superb video.
You are describing very nicely. Thank you so much.
Love this guy..
Very instructive.
Informative channel! I have grown to Love these Plants and I find your knowledge to be extremely helpful. Thank you very much.
You never fail to give new knowledge everytime i watch your videos... thank you! I can’t wait to propagate my sanseveria, really excited! It sparks joy. ❤️
Thanks a lot!
Thank you! Very good info. Would love to see the new shoots on a prop. Mine are not yet showing any new growth.
thank you great info
Thank you so much, other video didn't mention about the watering in such details
You are very knowledgeable and very good instructor. I am going to plant a Sansevieria plant today. Thank you very much.
Du är helt fantastisk, jag är Svensk men bor i USA och hittade din Channel, du anar inte hur glad jag är att du finns där för mig nu när jag har blivit galen med att ha indoors plants. Tack så mycket. I will share your channel because you are so detailed and explain everything so well.
Thank you.
Thank you very much for your teachings, I am very grateful. I love the sansevieria plant. Thank you very much from The Canary Islands Tenerife Spain
Your explanations are very clear, thank you
Very clearly explained. Thank you.
I am learning a lot from you. Tnx somuch.
Thank you
This video was very helpful! You got right to the point on what to do without any distracting comentary. I followed along with a new cutting from a friend and will be anxiously awaiting my results in about 2 - 3 months. Thank you
My sansevieria original is at least 40 years old! I'm good at not watering. Last year it was so tall and floppy I really reduce it by division and severely cutting back after watching your videos. I cant count how many new plants and cuttings I sold, gave away and threw away. Thanks for all your help
My Sansevieria is growing like crazy I want to make more to give to my plant buddies - by the way I have to tell you this, my Irish Twin and I both love love love your channel you always have great info have a beautiful day. - Ruthie
Omg so good
Love your vids :)
Good video as usual. You should do a video about syngonium and common problems with it. I have a pink syngonium that grows loads of new leaves but they dont seem to unfurl properly, but I cant seem to find any real solutions for it
Love your detailed explanations! Can u make a video about alocasia polly?
I was very much into propagating Sansevieria in both water and soil last fall indoor. (I used the cuttings in 2-3 inch method). In the end only 1 or 2 (out of 20) succeeds after 6 months (with roots growing out) and I won't say it's growing fine in the last few months. So I've given up propagating Sansevieria. I'll just buy.
Thanks so much! Love the knowledge you share, always relevant and concise! Question- I’ve always had success with water propagation and my sansaveria cutting actually had pups while in water. Is it too late to transfer to soil? Based on what you said, it seemed I had left the cuttings in water too long!! I am now wondering what would happen if sansaveria pup grows in water… rot?!
Thx for such great and thorough information. I hope to root some cuttings from my moonshine sansevieria. I have heard that if u propagate using the cutting method and the sansevieria has a special variegation (like sans. whitney or Bantel's sensation) that you lose that variegation and it will revert back to more normal variegation. This does not happen if you propagate using the rhizomes. Hope you can address this in a Q&A.
Thanks
👍
Hoya carnosa. I have a beautiful one from years ago. Easy to propagate. Never have seen any place to buy
Another one.
Very nice and elaborate speech. Very informative. Can you tell me whether Crotons can be used for water rooting? What branch shall I take and how long does it take for rooting?
🤗👍
I tried with a leaf and got a number of roots I am very thrilled. Thank you for explaining everything wonderfully.
How did u tc of ur cutting? In soil or water?
Hi, thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I have tried multiple times to salvage broken Sansevieria leaves by using the water and soil propagation methods, but it has never worked, the leaves get soft/soggy, or wilt. What could it be I’m doing wrong?
Would be nice to see different stages of rooting and planting....
My sansevieria moonshine has blisters on the leaves. If I propagate it, will the disease continue or should I cut off the disease first? I love all your videos and especially how thorough you are.👍😁
great video mate! for soil, after testing couple of options i went with leaf soil+ peanut shell
peanut shell acts both as a compost over time and helps drainage, this can be used both for mature plants and propagation
Uh i never considered this! Amazing I will try and hope for the best
How was your ratio?
@@zye.... 80% leaf soil 20% peanut shell,i put extra peanut shells around the roots, works better than the sand to keep the plant steady in its pot,and the pot weight is much lower! :D
Fantastic video! I love this plant. I have a question regarding the Peace Lily plant, the leaves are turning yellow completely.
I took a look at the roots and I realized that the roots were growing out the bottom of the pot, so I repoted it and now the leaves are turning yellow completely. What did I do wrong? Help me. 😊😖
Thanks for your super informative video. Going to propagate my Sansevieria 'Moonshine' today as it is getting several pups and looking a bit cramped in its pot. For the water propagation method for cuttings, you mention that water roots start to form after a couple of inches of growth. Is this true for any plant, or just specifically Sansevieria? I've only attempted props in perlite as information from another source suggested any root grown in water is a water root - so I find it quite fascinating if that's not the case for the early root stages!
When you were cutting up the long leaf, you should have done the triangular cut! It would also help keep track of the up and down.
💚💚💚💚
Has anyone else found that soil props develop much faster?
I held onto a couple of ones I cut up, put some in water and some in soil. About… idk 5 or 6 months old.
The water ones are just ready to be switched to soil, but the ones I started in soil, most have pups!! One even has **4(!!!) popping up.
Has this been anyone else’s experience?
I love sanseveria, i have the common one, but i need a 24 pcs of it.
They are easy to propagate and all the cuttings I'm putting directly to the soil, not the water and they are growing fast with no problem.
Can I bury my masoniana deep in the soil according to your explanation?
I love the look of whale fin coming out from wide part of the leaf. Thanks
Question: I heard that when you propagate variegated Dracenca (formerly known as Sanseviera) snake plant by cuttings, the new growths will not be variegated. I have the cultivars called "Sayuri" and "Bantel's Sensation". What can I expect mine to look like when propagated? Thanks!
Can I use water soluble rooting hormone for water prapogation ? Would it help senseveria cuttings to root quicker?
Hi. Is that true to all kinds of sansevierias? I'm planning to propagate my newly acquired variegated Masoniana and my silver blue and I can't really decide which is the best options to choose. Thanks.
So I started propagating my snake plant and when the cutting grows shoots, what happens to the original cutting? Does it grow taller or does it die and the new offshoot lives on?
I have a really long beautiful leaf that I had to cut the bottom off to save it. So I was kind of hoping that the leaf would continue to grow taller and maybe have offshoots, but that original beautiful leaf would still be ok. It's quite unique to the rest of the leaves from the original pot. I've never really had plants before, so sorry if this is a stupid question.
Thankyou so much Johnny Sins
Can you please make a video about spraying plants with water? Does it make sense? Should we do it once in a while? Do all plants like that?
I spray all my plants a few times a year if they get too dusty, just don't overdue it. Take care! Rev. Jackie 😊❤
Excellent, thank you!
A little help wth your English: the word for "superfluous" is "excess", not "access".
What potting mix did you use for the sansevaria?
Of course you can just use tap water in Sweden, unlike in Denmark you don’t have calcium added to your tap water.
Hello, I have a question about propagating snake plant leaf cutting. When you propagate a snake plant like the moonshine leaf, will the pup be like the moonshine leaf cutting or look different?
Why do they rot in soil with too much water but have no problem being in water 24/7?
Pls do video on succulents
"Like"
can you make a video on clevia plant, thanks
I have heard that hybrid cuttings revert back to the parent. Is this true?
❤️🇨🇦❤️💛🇸🇪💙
Hello all!!
Can water roots be trimmed to 2 inches before putting in soil? On of my propagated leaves has very long roots! I was unaware of how ling the roots should be.
Please advise/help, thank you!!
I have starts in water and noticed babies growing in the water on 2 of them. What do I do,when do I transfer them to soil?
Hi, why do you need some plants to form a callus before propagating?
Sir,can we mix root hormones in water we propagate sansevieria for quick rooting
Will leaf cuttings work on all kinds? I thought they would all revert to green.
That is the question I wanted to ask as well. In past, I attempted to propagate one of the yellow-edged varieties by cutting and the new growth came up green. Is it that you must use division for the variegated ones?
Can I make the V cut on the little cuts?
I saw another video where is told that when propagating through cuttings, put in soil or water, the variegation in the leaf(s) disappears, and you het a plain green sansevieria. Only dividing will preserve the variegation. Altough I'm not sure the pattern in this sansevieria here, can be called "variegation". Your comment on this please?
I have a fairly large Sansevieria with 9 or 10 growing stems and it is doing quit well. But 1 or 2 of these stems always droop or bend over about half way up. I thought it may need more water but that didn't help and I don't want to overwater it. Is there something I could do to get it to all stand up straight? Or should I remove those parts and start new ones?
Yes! Tie your plant up with a soft cotton shoe lace! You may need more then one if it's really tall! They love being tight and will grow straight up! Just don't bend them in or squeeze too tight! All my tall ones are tied, and look great, healthy, and strong! Good Luck! Rev. Jackie❤😊
