    A bit of history in China: In the few years after the Qing Dynasty falls, Republic of China adopted universal suffrage, but apprarently didn't work well. The industry base was still very weak, plus an unstable central government and a divided country. The election didn't manage to sustain for long. Local warlords only built their own railway systems, which is basically what you see in the game.

    15:27 You shouldn't garrison the coast line, but you _can_ garrison *only* the ports!
    That way, the Japanese _do_ land, but they cannot get supply, and become pretty easy to take out.
    (you *do* need to keep an eye on it, and have enough defenses to not-lose any of the ports tho)

    • @buddermonger2000
      @buddermonger2000 Před 2 lety +66

      Since no step back they tend to land land with a half army and they land next to the port as well (also somehow seem to not suffer from fucking supply mechanics) so if you guard only the ports you lose

    • @ertrick3693
      @ertrick3693 Před 2 lety +25

      An issue with using garrison orders in any capacity is if there are any enemy units in the states you give defense orders for, a good chunk of the units on the order will move away from their ports to fight those enemies. Meaning every time a naval invasion happens, divisions will get pulled off the ports that aren't getting attacked to fight off the enemy invasions, which could leave openings. The defense AI does do a *decent* job of pushing invasions back to the sea, but it's always better to micro and not rely on garrison orders. It's best to let them pull off multiple naval invasions and hold some land (not too much, though, you don't want to give them a solid foothold) because they'll stretch themselves incredibly thin that way and their armies will be even easier to crush than if you didn't let them take ports.

San means three and Ma is a last name in Chinese. So Xibei San Ma literally means three dudes have last name of Ma living in north west of China. If you play in china again I believe I have found a way to exploit the AI. The Japanese AI seems to be hard coded to do two things: launch a massive naval invasion at the beginning of the war, and redirect troops to that naval invasion if it seems to be going well. However, Japan doesn't have that many divisions early game. That means that if you give up northern china at the Marco polo bridge incident, Japan will not have enough troops to both man the boarder and launch a naval invasion, but they do it anyway. At this point you can have more than enough army's to cover the front and I have been able to push Japan out insanely fast bc there is like one troop per tile. Sometimes they even pull troops out of the north to reinforce a naval invasion which makes it even easier. Just give them the land. They don't have the divisions to defend it. I've done this twice as normal china and it works really well but idk if it works as other China's

    At roughly 10:50, Yunnan (云南, lit: "south of the clouds"), is mostly correct.
    At 13:18 - Sinkiang (新疆, lit: "new boundary", aka "East Turkestan" or "Uyghurstan") is pronounced "seen jiang" in Mandarin. Let the world know I tried.

    Yes not garrisoning your coastline can be beneficial to destroy Japanese units. However you get the same effect by allowing them to solely land on provinces without a port and guarding your ports. The AI doesn’t just naval invade ports, it invaded around them as well. In my play through I garrisoned each port and had two reserve armies to crush the Japanese when they landed around the port.
    Allowing them to take a port is simply asking them to bring more troops in. By the time I invaded Japan they had less than 18 divisions. So to anyone who thinks letting them take a port is ok, it’s not. You risk more by doing that, you risk a hell of a lot less by letting them land on other provinces. You gain the same advantage both ways.

    I do wonder how many of these would still be viable against either a smarter A.I. or during a multiplayer game? Because some of these seem very good, but only work against the A.I. being flawed, and would be terrible against human players, especially if they’re playing meta
