Imelda Marcos : First Lady of Shoes - the fifth estate

  • She may now be best known for her outrageous shoe collection but in 1983, Imelda Marcos was also a member of her husband Ferdinand Marcos’ cabinet and was poised to replaced him as President. She avoids talking any political aspirations and instead tells Bob McKeown that her role as First Lady is more to be a soldier for duty and love, modelling an ideal husband wife relationship to her public. Marcos and her husband were exiled in 1986 but after her husband’s death, Marcos was permitted to return. She is now a member of the house of representatives.

I am genuinely shocked at how commenters, many of whom seem Pinoy, that are genuinely in awe of this woman's beauty and elegance and seem to completely ignore the evil she and her family had on their country for years.

She has done a lot of good projects for her people and nothing compares to her achievements among her discredited detractors. The evil yellows have only themselves to blame on why the vast majority of Filipinos are disgusted with the three decades of yellow misrule and rapacious corruption that eventually brought President Duterte into power and eventually the triumphant return of the Marcoses in Malacanang Palace. Imelda Romualdez Marcos has become a living icon. She has outlived her nemesis and has seen the election of her son Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in a landslide election!
