  • Learn how to connect a cordless phone to a router. In this video, I am using a Router that was provided with my Airtel Xtream Fiber connection and a cordless phone by Beetel.

    Thanks for this video. I recently bought this Beetel Wireless handset and it works flawlessly with the broadband.
    Enjoying free calling from my broadband now. Feels good to use these handsets instead of our mobile phones. Gives a classical look to our home as well.

      That's not good use of money. You could just make few changes in ont and you could get calls on your mobile phone itself. How cool is that?
      I did it already on my bsnl ont.

    I have a uniden cordless I tried to use pause or comma to separate a call when I use my account but the pause feature is not doing the job, do you have any answer or which cordless do you advice with your experience .

      I would suggest to go with the Beetel Cordless phone That I have used in this video.

    Sir I have airtel broad band ..can I connect and will it be having impact on voice calls ...some one told all cordless phones have some continuous disturbance because of router near the phone pl share your opinion on the same .if I want my line to be cristal clear which cordless ishould use sir

      No, there will be no disturbance at all. Go for it. I have 2 routers at home and have never faced any disturbance whatsoever. The calls are crisp and clear in every room of my 2bhk apartment.

      Yes, all of the phones will work with Airtel Xstream as they are all using the same technology.
      Go for any one of those.

    Can you use a phone line splitter with this? So one can be used with the corded phone and the other with the cordless phone?

      Yes, a phone splitter will work fine. In the end, it's just like a normal phone connection. So you can do all the things you did with a normal phone connection.

    you did not get interence issues with wifi (as they both operate in 2.5 GHz)? i think DECT phones are the only phones which will not have issues.

      No, there's no interference at all. Apart from this router, I have a wireless range extender as well. That too works fine even when the phone is in use. Those were the old times when wireless phones used to interfere with other signals. That does not happen anymore with modern day electronics.

    Do we have to keep the docking station plugged in to the adaptor all the time or we just plug it's adapter to a plug when charging?

      The docking station should be plugged in all the time. It transmits signal to the handset, which can be moved around in your house.

      Unfortunately no. You will have to keep it on a table or some surface.
      Most cordless phones need to be kept in this way.
      However, you can invest in a small shelf which you can mount on the wall and then keep your router and phone on it.

      No, that won't work. You need to connect a physical wire from the router to the landline phone.

      The coverage will be good. This uses wifi like radio transmission which is very effective with respect to range.

      With a telephone splitter, you can probably achieve that.
      So you will have to connect the splitter to the router and then the two phones to the splitter.

      Yes, I think it has auto cut off mechanism to prevent overcharging. I sometimes forget the phone on the charging doc itself. It's working fine and so is the battery inside it.

      No, I have been using this setup for around 3 months now. None of the devices (phone, PS4, laptops) in my house have any interference issues. Even a desktop that's in a room far away gets proper signal.
      And I haven't done any channel/band related settings in the router either.

      Not really. The call gets connected almost instantaneously.
      PS: The only delay introduced before you get connected to someone is due to the Coronavirus related informative caller tune. And this is advised by the govt to all networks. Nothing to do with this handset.

      You can call 121 from your registered phone number to get that info. The airtel guys will advice you about the availability of the free calling service.

      Yes, it has auto cut off after the charging is done. But yes, to answer your question, you can remove it and take it to any room after it's 100% charged.

      It's a regular router. The telephone calling is supported by latest technology called VOIP (Voice over internet protocol).

      Not sure if BSNL supports phone calling. You will have to check that with BSNL customer care.
      The range is pretty good. I am using it in my large 2bhk and I get a signal in every corner of the house.

      You might have to buy a telephone splitter and run the wire all the way to the other part of the building. Not sure how feasible it would be for a long distance though. Something of this sort - amzn.to/3LIRp0S

    BUT - Not all phones will work from the router. They have to be VoIP (voice over internet) compatible and not all cordless landlines are. Some are only usable from analogue setup into an external phone socket.

      That's not true. I have used a very old Analogue phone with this and that worked fine.

      You can use any landline for voip. In case if landline's cable doesn't fit is rj 11 port, you will need to use a voip adaptor

      No, it's not from my local landline provider. There is a port on the router for connecting these kind of phones. That's where I have connected the phone.

      Yes, it requires batteries. But you can use rechargeable AA batteries as they get charged when placed on the doc.
      It is working absolutely fine so far.

      Yaspal, this feature is only available with Airtel Xstream fiber connection. Since you are using a sim, I don't think it will work.

      Hi Dipa, please check with Excitel Broadband if they have this phone call feature. I have not heard of Excitel Broadband or their plans, so cannot help you with your issue.

      Hello, you can use any other brand phone. Even a normal phone will do.
      This service is available only in select cities. Please check with Airtel before buying a phone.
      Yes, you do get a landline number with this. Once you give a missed call to other person, they will get your number.

      Nahi splitter ki jaroorat nahi hoti hai. Iska working thoda different hota hai. Apne purane BSNL landline ke saath jo internet aaneka, uske saath splitter ki jaroorat thi.
      Isme aap seedha phone router ko laga sakte ho. Splitter ki jaroorat nahi hai.

    I have a Huawei router, and Panasonic cordless phone but it is not working properly. It is a new handset ordered, and even replaced once. The calls gets dropped after a minute of talking. The receiver can hear me but I cannot hear them. I called Airtel, and they could not figure out any problem. Is this a handset problem, or we have some setting on router which is breaking the connectivity?

      Yes, could be a handset issue. I would suggest that you try using a normal wired handset.
      It could be an issue with some Radio frequency interrupting the phones signals as well. So try with a corded phone and that should make things clear for you.

    In my city they are saying unlimited calls through landline is not available right now but while paying for airtel xtreme fiber 100mbs plan they showed unlimited calls and it is showing landline number in airtel thanks app.so what should I do now.
    My question is that can i connect landline phone to router or do i need any permission.please help me

      You don't need special permission to connect a phone. Try connecting a basic phone to your router to see if it works.
      Mostly it wont work as you have mentioned that it's not available in your city. But you can give it a try.

      No, you need a router that has a connection for landline port. Only then you can connect a phone!

      Well, if you are using Airtel Xstream Fiber Broadband, then the free calling is something that you get as free with your broadband plan. This is however available in select cities only.
      You can check if this service is available to you by checking the plan details on the Airtel website. If you can mention your city in the comments here, I shall help you check if it's available.

      If the light isn't glowing, it's mostly not available.

      Well, you should use only rechargeable batteries in it. As it charges the battery when you place it on the docking station.
      If you use normal batteries, it might not be safe when you place it on the dock as those normal batteries are not supposed to be charged.

      That's something that you will have to experiment and check.
      You need to find a channel that will not cause any interference between your router and your phone.

    Internet receivers have rj45 sockets, while home phone receivers have rj11 sockets. You would need an rj45 to rj11 cable.
    If you had one of those, you might recieve calls from your internet receiver.

      Hi, You are given a separate landline number with this. It will start with your city code, for example: 020, 080 and then a normal landline number.
      It does not affect network speed in any way. It uses some modern technology and is not like the old phones that we had.

      Hi Gurjeet, Airtel will assign a random landline number along with your Xstream Fiber connection. It's mentioned on your broadband bill as well.
      You do not need a sim card for this. Just purchase the Cordless handset and plug it to the router. If you can't find the number on your bill, just give a missed call from this cordless handset connection to any of your mobile phone. Hope this answers your question.

      The handset gets charged via the Charging Dock. For simplicity, handset manufacturers use these kind of batteries (AAA NiMh rechargeable batteries) which get charged when you place the handset in the dock.

      This cordless phone will work with the internet if the internet service provider provides VOIP service and calling services with the connection.

      Well, the NiMh batteries provided with the phone would need an initial charging of 8-12 hours.
      The Mah rating of the batteries provided free with the handset is a bit low. I would recommend that you get more capacity batteries.

      Well, that depends on the MAh of the rechargeable batteries that you use in this phone. I use Duracell 900Mah batteries and they last for 4-5 days without recharge.

      Pur yeh facility abhi sirf chuninda shehro me hai, toh connection lagwane se pehle ek baar pooch lena installation person se.

      Yes, that is right. But this is only if your internet provider provides VOIP service (voice over IP). Please check with your ISP before connecting a phone.
