We finally found the real position that Maguire should play in. Absolute magic. 0 mistakes from him tonight. He was brilliant. I hope he continues playing in that position every game.
Maldini was jealous. He wishes he could get to that level.
Maguires best position is either on bench or on the dance floor🤣
The most hilarious thing I’ve heard tonight 😂😂😂, ETH just had to send a strong message down his head. He’s been consistently complacent since last season and looking almost untouchable.

Seeing the defenders hi-five each other after tackles. That positive body language and confidence did it for me.
Might be wrong but typically Argentine defenders take great pride in good defending. So Martinez mentality can spread to entire back four.
This is called morale. Savor it while you can. Because soon you won't see that again. You'll only see bowed heads, crushed mentality
@@brianogorman7752 Facts, you remember how tough Otamendi was at City.
@@jefferytay3225 noise
@@jefferytay3225 sadly, I feel that this is the likely situation. This team have had so many false dawns the past ten years, I've got fed up of it. I'm not negating the performance, because it was excellent compared to the other matches, that's for sure. The worry is that too many (including the media, who love a drama, of course) will overdo it afterwards. Unless they build on this game, they're still going nowhere. The fact that there's still talk that Ronaldo and Maguire will stay is going to cause more headaches.
New signings are still required in the next week or so. We've beaten Liverpool and City in seasons prior to this one, and still failed to capitalise on these wins. No good beating the top sides if you're going to draw or lose the next few against weaker opposition....
But hey, I'll try and be a bit more optimistic.
Maguire. Just magical. Sublime. The way he held his position...inert and yet having such a sustained impact from the bench, sorry I mean, on the bench. Outstanding. Amazing tactical awareness off the ball. Those micro assists that characterize his typical false 5 role for the opposition - completely absent tonight.

Sort of like a miniature version of Nemanja Vidić....
He had a good game; but he's a terrible transfer especially with that ridiculous price tag. Don't forget Brentford absolutely toyed with him last week. Liverpool don't have the kind of players to expose Martinez; but any physically sound team will crush him.

It wasn't just Neville & Keane, I myself as a Liverpool supporter couldn't believe the performance ManUtd put in. They played like monsters. Klopp was right, would have preferred to face a Man Utd that won 4-0 at Brentford and not the other way round (😂)

This performance is huge, especially for Maguire and Luke Shaw. If they want to get in the England squad for the world cup, they really have to step it up. As today's performance has shown the team can function just fine without them
The difference between how Malacia dealt with Salah and how Shaw got destroyed by Salah last season. Malacia is leagues ahead of Shaw
@@Jay-qm8cx I agree Malacia was immense... The thing is Luke Shaw on his day can be world class, but yeah he has not been consistent enough, or worked hard enough to deserve a starting place in the United team. Also going forward as history has shown, we can't rely on him, and the same can be said for Maguire. This is a wake up call for both, hopefully the world cup this year, coupled with the arrival of Martinez and Malacia will bring out the best in them. Otherwise I'm more than happy seeing their asses on the bench
@@amirdiabe bro just like you said, history shows that Shaw can't be reliable. Since 2015 he was signed, he hasn't been consistent, he has been on and off. When he gets real competition he will sit up but when he gets none he will be lethargic. Maguire, Shaw have had their chances as they have 3 seasons to cement their place in the starting role but they've shown on the long term they are not reliable and they are part and parcel of United problem
I'd sell Maguire to Chelsea. Club dont want to sell to rival. Even though I think Maguire will be very good in Chelsea back three, Utd need players who fit ETH system. One on one defending, high up pitch with enough recovery speed.
Even better without them

Kudos to ETH, he took a brave decision to drop Ronaldo and Maguire, bearing in mind that one is an all time great and other is his club captain. The team was spot on, right from the word go. Each and every player knew exactly what they need to do, the transition from defense to attack was smooth and well organized. Also patience, United waited for the right moment to make the move, this is clearly evident in the first goal when Malacia chose to go back to Martinez instead of chipping one in the box, who then opened up the space on the left flank which then led to a brilliant one-two and a composed finished from Sancho. Honestly, I think Ronaldo will be gone. Him being on the bench, the deal with Antony. Let him play CL, still is a legend. But for the team I think it's the best.
As a United fan, I'm taking this humbly.
*GGMU* More of this please as we go marching on
Liverpool were missing many important players .. Thiago، Nunez, Jota, Maguire, Keita...
First one a miss and the others MEDIOCRITY
MANE.
I think Maguire's positioning was on point for man united. Defended the bench really well today. Ggs to him🤝
Guys u are crazy... kikiki
yea yea... just because of 1 game, you lads are hallucinating as if he would be able to retain and sustain such fluke performance.
What a exceptionell performance by Man United ❤️❤️❤️
I had the pleasure as making lunch for the Manchester United team a few years ago when they were on tour… happiest day of my life
This was the United of 10 years ago under Sir Alex. The passion and tenacity was unreal all over the pitch
It is much easier when you know you have fans protesting outside to shred everything.😁
OK calm down
I think Roy paid the team a visit one by one the night before the game.🚴♂️🚵♀️🤸🤼♂️
This is the mistake you dumb fcuks are making one good game and you go ten years back comparing him to Legend SAF's team. 10 damn years back
Okay dude.. You lost the first 2 games, and now you've barely beat a Liverpool that is missing 5 starting players. Let's relax before you start singing about the glory days.
The real test imo now is to see if they can keep that intensity up against Southampton. It’s quite easy to be motivated at home against your biggest rivals.
100%
With martial fully fit
It was D-Day for MU. As a football fan, I'm glad to see the team and the staff pulled through.
What a brave performance from Manchester United. And the fans, absolutely wonderful.
Delusional. Next week they will lose again. Can't stand these United fans. A bunch of twats and muppets.
Brave? Brave? They played a game. Hardly running into a burning house or jumping on a grenade.
I wanna to hear some respect on MARTINEZ!!! he deserves it and I hope united sell Mctom and Maguire and Shaw shows how strong this team can be without them
Did mctom not play good? He was a starter? I didnt see the game yet 🙃
@@09dariii he did play but after first 30 min he disappeared he was actually very decent for first 30 min
@@w2sxd398 okay, thnx. Kinda good to hear i think😂🙈
Never seen a performance like that from Maguire. About time, bravo 👏
I thought we were gonna get bummed in this match but that’s the best I’ve seen us play in years. We shellshocked Liverpool and it was glorious. Disappointed to concede a late goal, but everybody was fantastic.
Martinez and Varane was an amazing partnership. Malacia looked good as well.
Need to give ETH time and backing to make him succeed at United. Pressure from media and pundits doesnt help the cause
This result certainly did.
I genuinely can’t believe people want him out already, it’s absolutely baffling. So fickle this fan base.
The one thing I was saying to all united fans was to just believe in ten hag. Let's not forget furgie lost 2 out of 3 games in the 92/93 season and won the league. I'm not saying we're gonna win the league but it's not the end of the world to have a bad start. Sheesh.
@@xx-wp3mq you need time, he literally took over a dead ship,
Not even a sinking one. He needs 2/3 yrs before fighting for PL
@@byronwolf8692 thats another thing completely, during the first 3 yrs of SAF’s managerial career at Unted, there were articles of how rubbish he was and people wanted him out. See how that planned out.
Yet Klopp is currently getting a free pass after a horrendous start to Liverpool's season.
I really enjoyed Maguire’s position yesterday... he did well and should defend his spot, perhaps he’ll get the call up to the England squad
I was excited seeing the tackles and defense effort than the goals in future even if you loose I would like to see the effort of defending and getting the ball like I did on this game that's all fans want to see effort
has always been a struggle for Ten Hag, at Ajax the easy games turned out to be hard.. Give him time he wants to play direct football harder to get when the opponent waits
Amazing how Malacia pocketed Salah. Salah scored a goal but if you saw the game, Salah only scored a goal (if you know what i mean). He couldn't dribble over Malacia and Malacia never lost in pace. That back 4 should be the starting back 4 every game!
Imagine if it was The Fridge vs Salah, probably Salah outrun him, the fridge extend his leg to the back to do his signature no look defense pose, and watch in awe as salah carry on, then catch up to pull one of his teammates down to let Salah score a goal. Or score it himself if Salah fail.
Brilliant game
If you watch the game again and focus on Utd's defense, you can see why they won the game. Also Liverpool are struggling with injuries and lack of depth in midfield. The next away game is the one to really tell if United are becoming a good team.
Whis injured for Liverpool that's causing these bad results?
@@nezkeys79 I think they are struggling without thiago
@@nezkeys79 Thiago, keita, jota, konate, matip, Curtis....hendo & Bobby returned from injuries last week so did gomez
you forgot the games when Ole was the main trainer, United had taken 2-nd place before Ronaldo came, Ole was underrated, and your fans are too cruel!
@@theredeemer4704 you cant just blame injuries thogh. van dijk for example, easily your best defender, played awfully.
I guess for a man United fan watching this games that probably haven't played for 3 years or more at that level is something astonishing. But watching the game the most important thing was the high pressing and agresivity of the whole team. Well deserved win from a Cityzen
I still feel the front line need to be faster though. Not quite there yet, but a fantastic result nonetheless
Thank you for your honesty, Manchester United needed this
you forgot the games when Ole was the main trainer, United had taken 2-nd place before Ronaldo came, Ole was underrated, and your fans are too cruel!
@@theheroes7172 we played trash football when we finished 2nd, it was park the bus and pray that someone scores, that was not real football
Finally we can look forward to the new empire and the new dream team in the making. We don't have to keep rewatching the class of 92 matches. I am really so happy for this season
Maguire - man of the match! His positioning on the bench was flawless. What a performance! The way he sat on that bench and held that position steady and strong was inspiring for all the present and future benchwarmers.
😂😂😂
Reapet this for next 35 matches and we will be top 4 no doubt .
Great win and a much much needed one. Lisandro Martinez future captain ❤️ He is absolutely fantastic
Yes 66% pass accuracy arsenal city and spurs will punish such a thing
Great maths.
Lisandro Martinez is top defender . He proved with Ajax and argentina.
@@Deadmansworld14 he's clearly talking about enthusiasm and drive to perform

Give Varane the Captain Armband. He is the leader of his group. He balanced everything and vocaling out there on the pitch. I cant see Maquire walking out with this group specialy with Casemiro coming into this group. Eric Ten Hag Era is coming🔴🔴🔴 And people stop talking how short Martinez is. He was a beast. 🙂🙂
Where it all started ❤️😊
They need to be consistent though, all good and well playing good against one of the top 6 but they need to do it every week even against the lower teams. Second the defence looked more solid and confident than with Maguire in their.
From losing 4-0 to Brentford to beating Liverpool 2-1 has to be one of the most incredible turn around within 2 consecutive games in the premier league.
Not really when that Brentford team would probably beat this liverpool team lol. Lets not act like Liverpool are playing like Man City right now.
Brentfords midfield was better than Liverpools
Let's not forget Brentford lost 3-2 to Fulham.
Sometimes teams are super hyped for a derby.
i mean Brentford trashing them 4:0 and then loosing 2:3 to Fulham is bigger turn around then that
@@warrenlucky8853 yeah but look at the team: salah, alisson, van dijk, trent, henderson...they all won a ucl and a premier league title so they must be good players. So man utd did make a massive turnaround, no excuses mate
I will have my faith fully back for Man Utd when they start to perform like this consistently because even in previous seasons, they would step up their games only against big teams (sometime not even bother to step up at all like last season), but played like crap against most of the other teams.
I don't expect them to win all matches, but the commitment is the most important.
agreed! 100%!
Small steps
I hope they don't consistently perform like this with 29% possession and 66% pass accuracy.
The reality is united are only good at being a counter attacking burnley type team. They’ll never be good at possession playstyle.
COneheads will COnquer Manchester and then the World !!!!!!!!👀👀👀👀😁😁😁😁😁😁
that is the passion united need!
That first goal was just awesome.
To see Rashford open up and having confidence even with the kick ups in area well done united well done ✔️ 👍
that was varane doing kick ups in the area not Rashford
So rashford did keep ups and passed to himself to take the shot 👏
@@letsRumble814 amazing my bad lol
Klopp’s playing style is really demanding on football players, possible but strenuous. At Dortmund he had a brilliant first 2 seasons and on the is similar to this season, hence I felt that it was vital for Liverpool to win the league last season as well as using this window to rebuild sell some of their established players for younger players like that Elliot fella.
Nah can't blame youngsters like Elliot and Carvalho who atleast played good. The main problem is klopp still believing in players who are not good anymore or injured for majority of the season and thinking they don't need to buy any midfieders. Klopp wanted Mane to stay it was Mane's own decision to leave
@@Nicolas-sz6qh he isnt blaming them, he says they need to play a bigger role
Elliot is skilful but slow. Henderson and Milner are way past it. They are all 30 plus. They should have sold Ox and Keita last season to make way for two young midfielders this season.
Tbf I thought that moment would come sooner, however he has done well turning over the midfield over the years. However there is no margin for error. The wide backs play with such risk that any sort of drop in forward pressing can be deadly. I also believe VVD is becoming more of a liability as players now properly understand his passive style of defence and start to exploit it.
@@daarom3472 yh a skillfull player like zaha could now take him down
I was stuned and in a good way. Man Utd played exceptional football last night or at the most proved they can play as a real team. I went into watching that game a nervous wreck to genuine enjoy every second of it.
Well done keep it up just focuss and score God bless.
I mean, most people picked Liverpool to win by 3/4 goals. Harry Redknapp said it perfectly, if there’s a game United win then it’s this one. It always happens when you count a team out, doesn’t matter how bad they’ve been.
i put a tenner on a United win and probably only bet on sports once a season. Liverpool have started poorly too and Man U's starting lineup looked pretty good. i'm not sure why people were saying they were gonna win by four goals when they had just drawn their first two league matches and have a raft of injuries.
Sometimes the teams get worse. Having a world class squad like we have helps us alot..
@@Demondoink1 nice one. They were at 4/1 odds to win, so overpriced especially for a team at Home I’m gutted I didn’t get on it.
@@oldskoolstu And a coach that knows how to use them..
United were really strong tonight. But people should not get carried away. Liverpool at full strength wins the match pretty easily, imho.
This is how they should've started the season. I'm not even referring to the quality of football, but instead the intensity and effort which was incredible. No matter how bad a team is, you have to start a new season with hunger and it took them 3 match days to find that but it's 100% better late than never.
Also, I actually think Bruno is a quality captain but there's certain moments where it's clear he's missing maturity. Should've received his second yellow after Liverpool scored and he could've massively let his team down there
Bruno sucks and put the team in jeopardy.
It is not profesional to constantly lose the ball like that as a midfielder. Open your damn eyes before moving your feet.
Called gamesmanship bro, he knows the laws
@@mooricioo you've got an agenda against bruno mate, that's clear, your opinions on him don't matter because you will never give him credit.
@@ryanname2503 Bruno got an agenda against Manchester United. he almost scored an own goal! Thank God there was Martinez.
every game is different, i genuinely believe brighton (a well drilled, organised side) would have beaten liverpool as they are now. liverpool midfield is horrible, so vulnerable to counter attacks and trent is one of the worst right backs ive seen defensively. i think most premier league teams will be looking at liverpool and thinking they can get revenge on them, they look so lost atm.
