One story that I've heard from my grand parents is that, when Kartikeya left Kailash, he went to the south and being far away from home made him feel homesick day by day. So Parvati told Agastya Muni to take some rivers and mountains from the Himalayas to the South (Cauvery is also called 'Dakshin Ganga') so that her son does'nt miss his home anymore. That is how Kartikeya stayed forever in the South, protecting the people and slaying the demons, becoming their Ishta Devta.

Karpa Vinayagar (in Pillayarpatti Village, Sivagangai District, Tamil Nadu) is the Oldest Archeologically Proven Temple for Ganapati.
Actually Lord Ganapati denotes the Siddhars (Who were Sound both Intellectually & Financially) according to some Tamil Literatures.
The Elephant Head denotes Knowledge and the Chubbier Body denotes Financially Sound.
That's why you will find Lord Ganapati in between Lakshmi devi and Saraswati Devi at many places.
Ganapati gives both Intelligence & Finance.

Yes.. Lord murugan attained mahasamadhi in Ghati subramanya in Karnataka

But there is a temple on Top of a hill, from where you can see Himalay.
There sits Temple of Katikeya Swami. In Malkhi, Near Rudraprayag.
Stories state that one time a priest fell asleep there, and he woke up at night, and because it's a peak, there is no place to stay there so he must get down to the village. Well at night he woke up and he heard Music of Drums. He was afraid so he hid and kept his eyes closed.
Story says that he heard a a group of beings coming, playing drums. They went around temple and then went away.
And i am telling you dude, the temple is at such a height and in middle of nowhere.
No way it was villagers.
Anyways, what's true what's not.
But the Swayambhu Pritma, is very Powerful, and full of high energy.
Harippadu Subrahmanya Swami Temple is one of the most popular temples in Kerala. There are plenty of temples for Murugan in Kerala and Pazhani is the most visited pilgrimage site by Malayalis which is located outside of Kerala. Tldr, not only Tamils worship Murugan.
Maybe but predominantly he is worshipped in tamilnadu and kerala .
In North we call him skanda Or kartekeiya

I am from Kerala. Here from childhood we have been taught about Lord Murugan/ Kartikeyan. I dont know why Northies dont know much about such a majestic God

Northies wrote the bulk of initial literature about him including rituals calm ur tits madrassi.
Not only in North India but in the middle-east too.
Tamils, Malayalees, Kannadigas, Telugites call him Kandha and in Sanskrit he is called as Skandha and when you go to Afganistan, Iran he is named as Shkandhar/Shikandhar and when you go still beyond till Greece he is called as Al-Kshandhar/Alexander. And now everybody forgot their root..

4. Kandha shasti kavasam that is sung in his name, apart from protection from evil, is also mentioned protection for each part of our body.

This is the Murugan temple in Elk Hill in Ooty. Not many tourists find this temple which helps in this place remaining calm and silent. This is a replica of the Murugan temple in Malaysia.

Lord Murugan fought with his parents and left the home .. when his mother asked where you're going he told I will make my own kingdom and my own people if you want to see me come there .. that's how Murugan became tamil people gaurdian. We can Literally feel the divine love and protection from him.

Worship of Murugan is not complete without listening to the divine Kandha Sashti Kavacham and Skandha Guru Kavacham sung by Soolamangalam Sisters.
He is the most beloved God of Tamilians. The worship of Murugan was especially predominant in Kongu Nadu, the areas surrounding present day Coimbatore district in Tamil Nadu, for hundreds of years. There are many remote hillocks all over the area where there are old Murugan temples. So peaceful. Btw, temples in Ooty area are newer, i.e. built after independence when there was a lot of migration of Tamil people into the hills.

This is a real special video to me. I have recently been drawn to Lord Kartikeya. I have always been a Bhagwan Shiv and Parvati Ma believer. But I had never read much into Lord Kartikeya. Knew just the very basics. But just recently he's suddenly made an appearance in my life. I am actually quite a bit taken aback with how closely I identify with his stories, and relate them to things I am living today and how I approach, react to and action things in my life, today. I am an Aries too. Ruled by Mars. The planet who is also called the God of War. Discipline, Planning, Perseverence and Headstrongness are some qualities that are ingrained into my life, from an early age, which are also some of the many qualities he is known for too. 🕉❤

Hey Ranveer, if you come back to Ooty/ Coimbatore -Try Marudamalai Murugan Temple. That is the most famous temple of Coimbatore. (Extremely crowded on Sundays) but definitely worth a visit!
