    "If you're a bit bulkier like me". Lol it's funny what passes for bulky in runners. At 6'4 220lbs I've not been able to wear Medium since I was like 17 😂

      It is true though. I'm a hybrid athlete with broader shoulders and larger legs than most serious runners. I accept that means I need to buy a size up for elite racing clothing (not day to day training gear) likes Soar's but I can beat most runners at an arm wrestle so you take the rough with the smooth 😂

      @@ryanmohan3041 I was being tongue in cheek mate - sorry if that didn't come across. I'm actually very good at endurance and very good at power, hence the definition of a hybrid athlete 👍

    Great recomendations , I have a half this weekend. unfortunatly I have picked up a cold so I doubt I will PB, but its the first time running the course , so as default I will get a PR for this event. I am racing it Path projects kit , while most of the stuff is trail orintated they do have a couple of bits of racing kit and I like the subdued colours ( running in plain kit , with little mermade inspired pro3 shoes does make me smile ). I prefer to not have a bag, however as the race is 100 miles from home and its raining all day will have to take one this time , for dry clothes and post run fueling when done.

    My half is actually 19k mountain/trail but at 10k to 12k ft. Wanted to wear Zoom tempo but decided too heavy: yes it legal for mountain/trail races. Will wear Adidas zero pro: low stack carbon shoe and some grip. Will carry endurance fluid bottles. Wanted to wear Alphas but out of nowhere, started rubbing by left Achilles.

    Half Marathon coming up this Sunday! Hope to go below 83 minutes (=PB). Vaporfly this time (they feel more edgy than the Endorphin Pro 3 and the Alphafly, in which I set my current PB). Fusion Sli short tights, one gel with caffeine at the start and a gel just past halfway. Good luck to all racing this weekend!

      Goodluck! Hope you have a good race and get that PB 💪 i have a HM in a few weeks where I'll be trying to break 90m my PB is 90:34 🥵 😆 I think I'll be going with alphafly 1s my my vaporflys are around 400km deep and just don't feel they have that kick anymore but still not 100%

      @@timothytrewin thanks and good luck to you as well! For the 90 minute HM pace I’d pick the Alphafly’s without second thought for me. I tested both the AF and the VF at that pace and the AF came out more efficient and it felt much easier to lock into the pace with it.

      @timothytrewin Před rokem +1

      @@swenderich thank you 🙏 I appreciate that. This kind of confirms my thoughts, I really find it easier to just hold that pace in the alpha's. Hopefully one-day I'll get down to your pace 🥵😮‍💨 go get it this weekend 💪

    Funnily, if you're a cyclist it seems SIS is the go-to gel (so that's all I've ever taken), if you're a runner its precision fuel. I wonder if you can get them in Australia... I'm curious to try.

    I did a couple of halfs in 2018 & 19, but I was wearing $60 running shoes that aren’t anywhere near as good as shoes I own now. So I wonder if I could really improve on my PB of 1:57:06 if I put in the training and do those 10 and 11 mile long runs that I don’t like doing.

      Hi Rob, (Kieran here) HOKA Tecton X maybe? I also like the On Cloud Ultra but they're quite a firm shoe. Is your off-road likely to be steep/muddy? I ran the New Forest Marathon which is off-road in the Saucony Speed 3.

    • @seanmac80
      @seanmac80 Před rokem

      I used the Hoka Zinal for my last trail half. Nice and light, with (for me) enough grip and cushion for the conditions.

    • @bobwood4304
      @bobwood4304 Před rokem

      @@TheRunTesters Thanks Kieran, I was thinking about the Saucony edge for the new forest trail marathons as they're mostly on pretty hard decent trails and rolling gently, not many steep climbs or descents or rocky technical bits. Or else the tecton as it has probably better grip in the damp

    I'm in the market for a higher capacity running belt. Naked Running's products get good reviews but their OBNOXIOUS branding littered all over their products is a HUGE turnoff. Take for example the vest demonstrated at 14:14. Branding front, back, left, right with that branding x2 on the front & back in GIGANTIC front screaming a juvenile phrase. The whole thing is just too much anyone over the age of 22 to take seriously. Hey Naked, tone down your branding... you'll sell A LOT more products to adults that way.
