      So nice of you. Pleased you enjoyed it. Our saying here in England is that good gardeners have green fingers! I do like to get mine down in the soil too. Enjoy your garden.

    What a wonderful video … so thoroughly enjoyed it … so informative on a lot of flowers and shrubs I have in my garden. I’m in the NW of England and have a south facing back garden so have sun most of the day. I love the way you have divided your garden up .. I could do the same in mine but wouldn’t know where to start .. maybe you could do a video on that? Do you over winter your osteospermums? Thankyou a truly wonderful video 👍

      So pleased you've discovered my channel and enjoyed the video. I do try and save my osteospermum from one year to the next but am not always successful.
      I do have a greenhouse but do not heat it through winter, so if a plant is borderline hardy like osteospermum it is always a gamble whether they will get through unscathed.
      Last autumn I bought my two pots of osteospermum under cover for winter, cutting them back by about two thirds, and didn't water. Each pot had 3 plants in, and in both pot one plant has survived to flower another year.
      It's worth trying if you have some sheltered and protection for them. You've got nothing to loose!

      Enjoyed and learned so much thank you Adam.Do the tayberry need full sun I’ve got mine in a big tub but didn’t get much fruit 🥺

    • @Adams-Gardening-Guides
      @Adams-Gardening-Guides  Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@susanmills8628 Yes I think it is always best to grow cane fruits like Tayberry in a sunny position. You do want to encourage bees and insects to pollinate the flowers, good sun will promote strong growth and flowering, and the warmth will also help growth and fruit ripening.
      Also Tayberries do not like dry soil and perhaps the compost in your pot is drying out too much. They'll need a really large pot, and standing it in a saucer of water would help provide a reservoir of water too.

  • @Tobhiyah
    @Tobhiyah Před 2 měsíci +2

    What a fantastic idea to put a tray at the bottom of the hanging basket! I'm going to do that

    • @Adams-Gardening-Guides
      @Adams-Gardening-Guides  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes, a simple thing to do that just incorporates a small reservoir of water in the base for compost/roots to use during the day to help prevent drying out too quickly … rather like standing pots in a saucer of water. Do try it and let me know how you get on.

    So nice to see your flowers blooming and doing well! I have some Scabia that I really like and the bees really like it! Id like to get some Erysium , to add some purple. Is it bertter to keep a hosta in the soil or in a pot?

    • @Adams-Gardening-Guides
      @Adams-Gardening-Guides  Před 2 měsíci

      Hostas grow well in both pots and soil. Igrow all mine in pots as we like moving them around the patio and garden to create different displays. They have lovely summer flowers too.
      However, they do grow over time and need bigger pots that can be heavy to move. Personally I love mine in pots and find it easier to protect them from snails!

    Hi Adam is too late to prune my roses down , also my Bride isn’t flowering much at all , should I feed it ? Thanks in advance . Thank you for this amazing vlog 🦋

    • @Adams-Gardening-Guides
      @Adams-Gardening-Guides  Před 2 měsíci

      I would normally prune roses around February to March, and many of mine already have flower buds forming. If you really need to prune them you can, and new shoots will break from low down, but this will delay flowering. However, if you need to prune then I would probably go for it. Have you cut back your Exochorda? This can reduce flowering. Otherwise a good feed and mulch will always be of benefit. Glad to hear you enjoyed the video.

  • @debwatts2035

    Good morning. I’m going to use slow release fertiliser pellets this year for the first time. Do you still feed your pots with another fertiliser throughout the year or are the pellets enough for you? Love your videos. Excellent. Xx

    • @Adams-Gardening-Guides
      @Adams-Gardening-Guides  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Thanks and so please you enjoy my videos. For summer bedding pots and baskets these slow release fertiliser granules mixed into compost at planting time should provide sufficient food for several months. They should slowly dissolve over time in moist compost so additional feeding shouldn’t be necessary. Good luck.
