The tank looks badass on there. 350 plus your labor, for such a small increase in capacity. I think I’ll just get a small fuel can or bladder and carry with me. I just also realized you can no longer lock the tank for protection against something like a severely pissed off girlfriend with a handful of sand
Thx for the video mate! May I ask you from which model of KX you got that rear fender? I have the 2006-08 KX rear fender on mine but also yours looks really good
Has a bigger tank been produced yet for this bike beside the ims .7 here? Was hoping for at least 1gallon more if not more..just put my deposit on 2023 klx300 that my dealer i just bought a rally from not long ago is confident will be here sometime in august...mainly going to be second bike for friends fam to ride but will still take to trails but now im super spoiled w my rallys fuel capacity that i already know 90 miles to a fill up is going to get old very quick! Great vid and install btw
Thanks for watching! I am not aware of anything larger. I wish it were 1gal. Also. But I just like the fact I can see fuel level. Sometimes I forget to check mileage before a ride or set my trip meter.
Even though I know the range of the bike, I still prefer to be able to see the fuel level. The extra .7gal is perfect for the rides I do at my camp, a little piece of mind.
The 2.7 isn't enough for me. Fuel range is a MAJOR drawback, and sticking a Rotopax on the back is a for me. I did buy a KLX. If I don't have a viable option in 6 months, it will be gone and I'll get a Honda. At least their crap suspension can be fixed.
Ok - I have a question I've asked almost everywhere, and no one can give me an answer. The KLX250 was fuel injected for a while, and it's still essentially the same bike after it became the KLX300. So why can't we fit a larger tank meant for the KLX250 Fuel Injected on the KLX300? According to the internet, it's not compatible, but it makes sense to me that it should fit. Why wouldn't it fit?
I was thinking of buying the camo bike and then removing the camo plastics and installing green ones like yours because I want the black wheels . are all of the plastics easy to remove and replace? Which part would be the hardest ? Rear fender hardest ? Or headlamp area? Thanks for the video
That will look excellent! Rear fender will take longest, that being said a total swap should take less than an hour. Front fender, rad shrouds & side panels take about 15min. If my dealer would have gotten a Camo first, that was my plan. Thanks for watchin’!
@@kcoutside7143 I photoshoped a picture to see what it would look like , side by side I liked the silver better and so I'm getting a bike exactly like yours.

It's pathetically sad that they are charging almost $400 for only a .7 gal increase. We were thinking about replacing our 2014 klx250s with a new 300 but not if we can't get a bigger gas tank than that. My wife rode the KLX when we rode the TAT together and 3 gallon tank is a must in some areas. We only paid around $200 for our 3g IMS tank on the older klx and even that seemed like a lot for a piece of plastic.
Agreed! I paid the original price when I ordered the tank & made the vid. then a month later BOOM!! They jacked the price way up! I would never pay the current price for .7gal.
@@kcoutside7143 When did you purchase it? IMS website is showing it currently priced at $392.24 😕 way too much for .7 extra IMHO, especially in plastic! Was it on sale when you bought it, or is this just another example of the wonderful inflation we're seeing everywhere?
