I’m a software engineer for a company with a 43.7x bigger market cap than Duolingo but your offices/office life look so much nicer than mine, tbh I’m sure everyone would way rather work at Duolingo. Unless you miss your streak and the owl comes hunting you

If you want to gamify the experience, make a separate app that is actually a game. Imagine having a open world game where users are individual owls, where you can finish quests and fight other owls. You spend ingots you earned learning your language and finishing challenges in order to buy swords, outfits, buffing your character. Something like a PUBG mobile and WOW combined.
Duolingo into two apps. In one you earn points, buy stuff. And the other app where you play and interact with that character. Or maybe merge it into one app. We now have COD, PUBG, APEX, Pokemon ...... games on mobile. Why would Duolingo be any different?

An intelligence battle system
How it works:there are two types of attack and two types of defense
Languages and maths
Depending on your course in the main app,it will be your language attack/defense
To cast an attack/defense,you need to answer an question(no worries,there's time stop so it won't be so unfair when you answer and someone attacks you first) in 40 seconds(or less,depends on the difficulty you played),if correct,you cast,if incorrect,you still cast,but it's 50% weaker
Only the smartest win
There's leveling up too,it strenghtens your abilities
Also,it's a 3D beat em up with platforming and puzzles(also math and language questions)
And online,where you beat people up with the power of knowledge and chat
It goes like this:
Player 1:launches an attack
Translate this phrase to portuguese:
I want a hamburger
R:eu quero um hambúrguer
Correct
Lands on player 2,player 2 casts a defense spell
Traduza essa frase para o inglês:
Eu estou com fome,o que será que tem no cardápio?
I'm hungry,i wonder what's in the menu
Correto
Defense applied
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.
Something like this
I like to think these are just people Duo holds hostage and forces to look happy. Even making videos like these to torture them with knowledge outside world thinks it's a joke. Somebody make that movie.

I went to middle school near Duolingo's HQ in East Liberty, at the since-demolished Reizenstein (good riddance to that place). Good to see tech companies in my hometown.

The office looks very nice. It seems however the only person hard working there was the owner. The inflow of the money from such a great idea is used to spoil people teaching them that a hard work is the past and the sense of life is entertainment.
