NOTHING about this was boring! On the contrary, it was super informative & helpful (per usual!). I don't think I'm alone when I say that I really enjoy all the "behind the scenes" videos...where you show us how you get such a green lawn, how you maintain your beds, the addition or removal of any hardscapes, the planning & execution of ideas for your garden, etc! It might be mundane for you, but I guarantee SOMEONE out here IS learning something new :)

I've watched this video at least 5 times trying to prepare myself to do the drip system throughout my whole flower beds and veggie/fruit garden. You stated that it probably seemed boring to watch/not the most exciting video but for someone like me, that is exactly the opposite. I've watched the professional videos and they don't explain nearly as well as you do. I learn so much with every video you do, drip installation included. I've gardened since I was 8 years old and am now 83. You are a wonderful teacher in the gardening world. Now, you have inspired me to do that drip system. Come fall that is my big project so I have it all done before Spring. I figure if I just do one line a day I should be finished by February. Thank you for the wonderful service you and Aaron offer so many times a week for us gardening nuts. Oh, and I do believe you two have the cutest kids I've seen in a long time. Benjamin is fascinating me with how his vocabulary is increasing by leaps and bounds.

I found you when researching plants I wanted to order for my pots/garden about a week ago. You are so pleasant & informative! We live in a dry, hot as hades, clay infused rocky limestone area of Texas. I love your videos! I want to put in drip irrigation in the two back L shaped beds that I have finally cleared of roots from the ornamental grass & boxwood type shrubs that were there before we moved in 12 years ago. I wasn’t sure how to tap into the pvc underground pipes & I wouldn’t have known not to run drip system from the one pop up sprinkler & 3 risers that are in each bed now, but instead to cap off all but one of them. I hate the way they pour out water & whack the plants. I’ve replanted the beds except for the blue native salvias I kept and absolutely have to put in the drip system asap so your video really helped!

Thank you for making this video!!! I was hoping we would get one on this very subject. This was great. I installed a small section last year after growing tired of hauling sprinklers around ever night to multiple sections of yard. I had to wing it because I couldn’t really find anything anywhere online. I’m so glad you made something. I made the mistake of doing it in hot July. I have one more section to do that I knew I wanted to do in cooler weather, but I didn’t even think about doing it before the plants come up. So smart!

Boring?? Not a chance! Of all your videos so far, the two I've seen on how to create irrigation have blown my mind! I had NO idea how to make it happen and was lamenting all the flowers I could not keep watered. NOW, thanks to you and your fabulous editor (is it your husband?) I can make a plan with my husband and we can get-er-done. I now have confidence, because of seeing what you do, to build gardens as I have dreamed AND maintain them by good watering. For those of us in non high desert areas with normal water you could always tap into your existing sprinkler system and use something like Mister Landscraper (Lowes) to add actual plant specific sprinklers for your beds. Or if you don't have an existing sprinkler system you can hook it up to a faucet with timer. Thank u Laura for all you do. Monique, Macon GA

Hello Laura, I'd like to share my experience with you. I live in zone 5 like you, in Montreal, Canada. I watched your drip irrigation videos and was convinced that I should get my overhead irrigation system changed to drip irrigation. However a specialist advised me against it. He even said that he takes out more drip systems than he installs. His reasons were that the squirrels chew through them, they get clogged and unless you cover them up with mulch, they are unsightly. Also they only last about 3 years. Since we have 100+ year old trees, home to hordes of squirrels, we decided to stick with our system. Also, we don't live in a drought prone area here in Montreal so there is no particular need to conserve water. I just wanted to share that with you.
    LOVE, love, love your videos!

Awesome video. It’s hard for me to comprehend only raining twice or a few time more in the summer. It rains here all the time. Last summer was one that rained at least 2 or 3 times a week and sometimes more than that. It creates a lot of weeds!!! The pretty things need sunshine to grow and look good but the weeds don’t care! This type of irrigation would be good for my beds that are not close to my house. Thanks for showing us how to install.
    Have a great week! 🌺🌼🌺

Thanks! Super helpful!! I have the same problem with a perennial bed with sprinklers. I plan to cap outlying heads and try to find the main feed to that goes to that bed and run my drip system from there. Since it is on a separate timer zone than the adjoining lawn. I will cap all ends of the "abandoned" buried side just in case I ever convert the bed to to lawn (horrors!) and need in ground connectors.

It is such a thrilling subject Laura!! Thanks to all your drip videos I just installed my first timed (😅) system all by myself. I was so excited to hear that drip sound as-well. Great to report no other unplanned water squirts happened and im thrilled. It was a bit of a project to source all materials early spring but it is well worth it. I live in Michigan and although we get good rain.. it is not sufficient especially during long summer days. I have a ton of new limelights that will love the water consistency. Thank you so much for sharing. I cant wait to finish off all my beds with drip. I do have a question, if my beds are all around the house, do i have to use the black tube all around the house and connect the brown at each bed section or just connect brown to brown if beds are fairly close to each other like you did in this video? Thank you, its a joy to watch you guys!! 🌻

I need to change my flower beds out to this system. We had a new system put in a few years ago and I argued with the installer about using drip instead of overhead and now I wish I would have stuck to my guns. Good to know I can fix the problem on my own--the other thing is I am forever tripping over those heads, a hazard in the garden.

Eileen Swalling same!! I cant put anything in alot of places because itll get creamed by the pressure from the head and block water to other areas.

Not converting as much as replacing. Still thumbs up!

Very good info in this video. QUESTION: What about winter?? Do you leave the system in or do you have to remove it?

What do you do in the fall to make sure there isn't water remaining in the tubing?

Can you make a video describing the different between soaker hose and drip hose?

Thanks for the informative video! We get plenty of rain most summers here in Ohio and I think it's terrible if I need to get out a sprinkler even once during the summer:/ I enjoy all your videos even if I don't use the ideas:)
