The audio track on this video features the voice of Robert Palmer, not Gordon Neville. The recording was sourced from an audio cassette tape (in my possession) that Robert Palmer recorded prior to him leaving the band. This video is not available on VHS or MP4. The BBC in their wisdom, deleted many shows including this one from their archives some years ago.
Now if I understand what my confusion was, the singer in the video is Robert Palmer but the audio was obtained from the LISTEN album where the vocalist there was - Gordon Neville!
Was trolling about for footage of Genesis from this program (You never know what lost media has been sitting on youtube for years, waiting to be found...) This actually rocks hard. Great find, great music!
Loved this, many thanks Jeff. I wonder if the original tapes for Listen still exist in the Island vaults - maybe Neil Storey at Hidden Masters could shed light on this matter.
Jeff, can you answer a nagging question what month and year did Palmer join the band and what year and month did he leave? Love this and thanks for sharing it Palmer does a great vocal. I suppose the context of the virus gives the song a new urgency.
Oh my god! I've been looking for footage of this appearance for a long time. Thanks so much for the upload! Do you know if there is any more, or what songs were played?
@@jrandrew7880 The bass player is Stan Haldane with Alan Bown trumpet, John Anthony Helliwel on sax, Tony Catchpole guitar, Vic Sweeney drums and Jeff Bannister on keys.
Hello Enri, This is a cine film recording of a live BBC TV show. There never was a DVD or VHS tape. The vocal track was sourced from an audio cassette and added to the movie. Curfew was an album track released in 1970 on Listen by The Alan Bown, originally on vinyl. CD's of this album are no longer on general release.
@@jeffbannister381 Thanks a million, Jeff… I was born in Bilbao in the 50s, then in the 60s we moved to Caracas, Venezuela, and there I met good friends, sons of Europeans, with whom I listened to very good psychedelic rock and I got to know 3 broadcast night shows of 3 Venezuelan DJs who are Very well informed of all the happenings of Underground and avant-garde music in Europe, USA and Canada, I grew up listening to those 3 DJs, their programs on the AM frequency station were Album-oriented rock with biographies and all the data that was written in LPs since 1995 I live with my family in New Jersey… that's why I was interested in knowing if that video of Alan Bown on the BBC existed in any format, be it analog or digital… I'm a fanatic collector of good free format radio from late 60s early 70s .. Jeff if one day you can find out the name of that tv show on the BBC please let me know right here so your friends can look it up either on str eaming or in mp4 no matter the format the important thing is to have it in my personal collection I am also very interested in having good radio shows from Radio Caroline and other Offshore Radios once again thanks for the information… Greetings from New Jersey! enriexperience@yahoo.com
I used to watch Disco 2, aged around 12. I loved it.
When the OGWT started, and achieved almost instant notoriety, I thought, what just happened?
What a great song and band especially with the voice of Robert Palmer.
Beautiful always loved and raised as a kid on there album outward bound or was it bown. Fabulous xxxx
Robert Palmer joined the band in August 1969 and left September 1970.
Excellent find! Thanks for posting this classic video!

I was born listening to your playing Jeff, and now I'm an organ player. Thank you
You're welcome Pietro and I'm flattered

Nice to know you're still around. Have all the Alan Bown LP's on vinyl.
Great find. Forgot all about Allan Bown. Remember watching TOTP in the late '60s and Allan Bown playing 'We can help you' I was 16😭

The other song perfomed on that show was Pyramid but unfortunately there is no surviving footage of it.
"Listen" is legendary - great to see & hear (at last) Mr Palmer doing this - bit more gentile (classier?) than Gordon Neville's rendition.
Couldn't agree more Steve. Jeff
Thanks for your reply Jeff. Hope you're doing well.
@@stevedavis7142 Thanks Steve.
Outstanding!
Could this be my father Andy Brown on bass?

Thanks for the correction. My info has my old man playing bass from 70 to 71
Hello Jeff a question ... what is the name of this DVD or VHS video tape? ( they released too in CD?)
