- Here’s our performance centric review of Ni No Kuni 2 Revenant Kingdom Princes edition on nintendo Switch. Phew, do they have a competition to make the longest names?! I hope you enjoy this one, I used a couple of PS4 clips to show much later gameplay as that’s where I initially finished the game (there’s only like 5 seconds total and it says at the bottom). Are you picking this one up? #Ninokuni2 #Switch #Review

Hey SwitchUp Family - HUGE thanks for 200K subscribers, it still is sinking in, we’re hoping to have a live stream tomorrow evening around 10pm GMT if you’re about to come and celebrate with us! Mark and Glen
Hello, were then 4 codes for Ultra already distributed?
Bought Eastward after your review 👍
Looking forward to the live stream - congrats on 200 000 - you have both worked really hard on this channel so well done
Again, congrats on the well deserved 200K! I remember when you guys were at 50K. As for this game I’ll pick it up physically when it hits a half off price
Well deserved chaps! I’ve been following you right from the start and to see you hit 200k now is testament to your prowess. Keep it up!
Watching while Ni No Kuni I still in my backlog. 😎
hehehe uh oh! Mark
I loved this game back when it came out but the original Ni No Kuni has a special place in my heart because it introduced me to Studio Ghibli and I’ve loved their work since and i own all their films on Blu rays, my favourite Ghibli films being Kiki’s Delivery Service, My Neighbour Totoro and Spirited Away 😊
I really loved this game, surprisingly more than the first one. I had a ton of fun switching out characters to play, and I loved the design of combat in this game. I also really loved the kingdom building and mini RTS matches.
Oh, my God! I still have to play the first one. I got it on a sale a long time ago, but haven't touched it yet.
I was curious about this one. Thanks for the review. You guys are the best!
Same here
Almost finished the first game on switch and was looking for an excuse to continue the story. Great review as per usual! Thanks for keeping up with the great quality!
Thanks for watching Chris - much appreciated! Mark
The first game so hard to me still not finished
I cant get a handle on the fighting, got through the desert after the first boss in the forest to the town but only by avoiding the monster things in the desert.
@@SwitchUpYt Christ huh? lol
Is not a direct sequel. It's a different game. It is hundreds of years apart
I’m loving this game. I prefer action j/rpgs as opposed to turn based and this probably would have gone under the radar if it wasn’t for your channel. Thanks for always coming through with awesome reviews! Cheers!
Been waiting for this review, great vid as always!
Awesome review. Cant wait for this to go on sale!!!
Thanks again for another in depth review on performance! Congrats on 200K :)
Thank you for the awesome review. I ordered this one last night. I'm currently playing through the first one and i am having a fun time with it!
Great review as always!
Beat this on PS4, but might pick it up again to run through the dlc on switch.
Definitely not as good as the first. But man I want them to keep making things in this series.
Thanks Mark for the review. I'm picking up the physical version tomorrow. I have played the PS4 version that I borrowed from a friend. Looking forward to playing it portable. Appreciate your insights.
I love the first game so naturally I'll have to try this one, thanks for the review
Excellent review Mark. I played it on PS4. I loved it, but not enough to double dip.
I have platinumed the game on PS4. It took me more than 95 hours, but it was worth it. One of the best JRPGs in recent times. I will skip on it on NS, but highly recommend it for new players.
@ConfusedSoniku300 he already has it on the ps4 there’s no need to buy it again when you already have it
@ConfusedSoniku300 either you’re a troll or you’re 10
@ConfusedSoniku300 uh huh sure sport
@ConfusedSoniku300 why would he when he already played it and beat it on ps4 lol
I got it, and my got im lovin it just as much if not more than ni no kuni, i dont have an other way to play so im so happy its finally here
Can't wait to buy this when it goes on sale like I did for the first game when THAT came out on the Switch
I don’t know how I never heard about a sequel before. Perhaps due to more mixed response when compared to the 1st game, which is always highly praised. As always, it’s great to hear your perspective, especially with performance
I adored the first game but found it harder to get into the second one. Maybe because the first one I played on Switch and the second was PC but now that it's out for Switch, I'll definitely give it another go 🥰 Great review as always!
SwitchUp FTW!!!!1!!! The mad lads at 200k and growing! Love to see it!
I was a huge fan of the first game so I was always definitely going to pick this up, but I’m glad to hear performance is pretty good for the most part. Honestly, I found the combat of the first game to be very tedious at times. The companion A.I. was not very bright overall (thank god for the all-out defense command you EVENTUALLY got), and just running away from the enemies to cast spells repeatedly got a bit old after awhile. I think this action-RPG approach will definitely be welcome in my opinion! Thanks for the great review.
Great review! Glad this game got ported to Switch decent performance. I look forward to playing it!
It is not well ported. graphics and resolution are just a joke. U cant even see the lips of the characters because of the aliasing. Dont be fooled by this review, like I was.
@@benjaminmartin2922 Or people have just different opinions? Ever heard of that?
@@Sawtje2 Resolution, aliasing. these are not opinions.
They simply have eyes issues or didnt test the game.
Thanks I’ve had my eye on this one!
I was hoping I had more time before this one came out. I'll get it eventually, but I still have too many JRPG's sitting in my backlog to get it immediately. Thanks for the review, which confirmed that this one is right up my alley!
I definitely like the combat better in this one more than the first game. And the overworld frame rate being a bit slow really doesn't impact game play. They did a good job and I'm sure it will be patched more.
The first game is on sale in my region. Going to pick it up and go through it before I jump into the second one. Thanks for the review
Thanks for the review! I’ve wondered about this ever since it’s original release. But so many of the reviews I’ve looked at have been negative about the game… it’s nice to see a good review.
I imagine this would be a good pick for showing off the new OLED switch. Also played through and loved on playstation so perhaps a pick up for a heavy e shop sale. Think the original went as low as 6 quid at one point. Mental! Great review as usual!
This feels like ys9 all over again at least for me. Where the 1st game (ys8, nino 1) runs smoother than the 2nd one. Still excited for it and like ys9, will surely get it once it gets a decent discount on eshop.
Yep, still good games but not quite as good as the previous
This man never sleeps! Thanks for all of the great reviews.
I actually do…just not often 😂
@@SwitchUpYt sleep more, more games makes your liver damage...
That would be awesome with a performance patch. It’s such a gem this game. 😍
Had this one preordered for a while now. Should be here tomorrow so I can get started.
Those puns are getting more complex with every video! Nice! Lol
Hahaha that was a multiple layered one right there 😂
Fantastic review, guys! Just to let you know, I beat this game to 100% over on PS4, including every piece of DLC. And, in my experience, Ni No Kuni 2 can take up between 130 to 150 hours, full completion. Also, the DLC introduced additional combat systems which can make the game feel a bit overbearing, but once you learn those they add up to the game.
Great review!
I enjoyed Ni No Kuni 1 on Switch so much that I bought a PS4 to play NNK2. I’m glad it’s finally on switch. Easy recommendation! My main tip is to increase the difficulty from the start, and just lower it if you need to for bosses and such. It’s worth noting that this game basically treats normal as its easy mode.
Haven’t played the first one yet but I plan to, the kids this one. Thanks for the review!
Thanks! Gonna get it now!
I’ve been hooked on Fantasy life when’s the 3DS was a thing, and I think I found something like it. 100% gonna get this game
I just got the white witch one on sale as I was looking at it for a longtime, so along with that and now Eastwood I'm in backlog heaven again!
Loved the first one looking forward to this one
Have the first one and haven’t completed but naturally I will pick this up, because I really like these types of games
I’m excited for this one!!
Just ordered this game today off eBay with a litt extra for the shipping, getting it around the 24th and I’m excited.
I completed this game a few months ago, wish more people would play it!
I wish that Don Bluth had been in his prime and made RPGs with today's tech. I think his stories would've translated over smashingly.
i really liked this game .. reminded me so much of suikoden series with the town building and war battles
Great Review =).. I just love switchup, always entertainment. Are you going to review Monster Train?
I played this on PC. This game got me hooked from the beginning. First time hearing the opening theme. I've never been so hesitant to click the on the New Game.
Whoa, nice, I remember beating this game back in 2018, I think, for PS4, but I had NO IDEA that it released so much DLC since then!! I personally think the first game is head and shoulders better than this one, but this one still for sure has memorable moments in terms of the amazing art style!
This game looks fun! I'll wait to grab till a sale. My Killian dollar trilogy just came. So not a rush to play at the moment.
Got this on PC and couldn’t get into the kingdom building thing but watching this video has me itching to give another shot
Great review...very indepth! This was like reading the manual but more fun :) Do people even read manuals anymore though...lol. Great job on your video :)
Port looks great, like how they kept the dof during fights
Excellent review as always, Mark. Thank you! Do you know if the whole game is on the cart, or is there an additional required download?
Nice. Gonna get to this one eventualy but for me a lot of the fun in the first game was the creature collecting and battle system wich dont exist on this second one sadly.
Amazing review as always guys! Never played a game from this series and White Witch is on sale and heard good things. Ask the community how good is the first one and why is it so highly praised? Thanks!
I bought the first one while it was on sale and couldn't finish because the combat was so clunky and demanded a lot of quick thinking, specially in bosses. The AI on your partners also sucks ass, they will either waste all their MP on a single enemy or literally do nothing helpful the entire battle, so almost every battle you have is just you babysitting them so they don't die or spam magic attacks on enemies. The artsyle is literally the only selling point of this series and the reason why people praise it so much.
looking forward to this. played the first one several times. now i just need my switch back from repairs.....
Bought Eastward after your review tnx
Already beat the ni no kuni games on PS4. Great review 👍
I fully completed this game way back on ps4. Fantastic game. I really hope they are still developing the third one and if they are I hope it comes to the west. With all the sad news about their studio, looks like chances are slim now :/.
What happened with the studio?
I own this on PS4, but have been holding out to play it on switch. Now that it’s coming out snd got a nice review, I think I’ll spend the $60 on it. Huge fan of Ghibli films (watching howls moving castle as I type this lol). Thanks for the review guys !! More money out the wallet because of you 😅😁
ty for sharing. Looks like fun to me but that price! Might wait for a sale.
Eyeing this next after eastward
Honestly I can't wait to pick up this one, though I haven't finished the first, hence it's on the wishlist for Christmas. Hopefully by then it'll have seen some patches to help performance. Cheers for the review guys.
Thank you for your awesome reviews , as always, I watch them all. Guys, how quickly can you get a review out on Diablo 2 on switch? I really want to get it, but i'm worried about the performance and also the controls. Here's hoping that its a great success on switch , like diablo 3 :) , really want to get it, but waiting on your review.
I always wanted to play this game, glad it got ported to Switch 👍
the text sizes of some of these games makes me very grateful for the zoom in option.
Yeah, a pain though isn’t it? Mark
@@SwitchUpYt it can be for sure. The double click takes some getting used to.
@@The_Gnome_Chomskee Yep, as you say: at least it’s there though, nice to have it.
My debit card- “please have mercy on me”
Me- SWIPE!
I just bought the first one and I’m barely an hour in but I’m definitely buying this one. Thanks guys, this is my favorite game reviewing channel!
Really appreciate it! Mark
Adore the first game. I see number 1 is always on sale so may wait for this but think I'll take the plunge at some point v soon. Maybe after Metroid Dread!
Yeah man that’s going to be a really good one methinks! Mark
Couldn’t get into the 1st one honestly-this one I like how it’s fully action base
I very much enjoyed the first one and am interested in this. As long as there is a sarcastic taff fairy then I'm in.
Damn. Wish I knew it was coming to switch. I bought it on sale in anticipation for steam deck.
I'm a big fan of this game so I went ahead and got it again 👍 Ps4 and switch
Absolute best choice to start with performance!
I've heard so many good things about the 1st game. Gna buy it since it's on sale than hopefully move onto this one. Reminds of tales of vesperia alot.
First one is an amazing rpg. I highly recomend it.
I played this to completion on PS4. It's an excellent game to play while listening to a podcasts. I found the grind of the first game to be just too much. NNK2 is probably a good alternative to people who can't get their hands on Tales of Arise.
Agreed! Mark
Yeah I was thinking it looked like a Tales game, in the combat at least. I'd like to see a few more Tales games on Switch, I'd really like to play Tales of Berseria. I started watching a playthrough then stopped cos I didn't want to spoil it in case I got the chance to play it! LOL
I played this on ps4 and I will recommend this 100% I didn't like the chibi battles. but even those when it was tied to the story was enjoyable, the side battles were meh and needed to level troops. Loved the city building part
My first ever JRPG, fingers crossed I enjoy it
Is it possible to turn off the sub text that is under the minimap? Trailer showed that the sub text wasn't there but here I generally see that clustered thing back?
I agree entirely with your comments comparing it to the first game. I got into this game much more easily and really enjoyed the combat but then again, I like my games to be little easier now
Definitely: I just don’t have the time or patience for all that nonsense anymore
Same I bought the 1st one on switch & the 2nd one on PS4,
now I'm going to be buying the 2nd one on the switch!!!
Lovely just lovely
💵💵💯👍😁
Do you know if updates have fix this game??? Before I buy?
Having just finished Ni No kuni wrathe of the white witch and feel accomplished that I beaten it (my backlog is enormous) I couldn’t wait to start on Ni No kuni 2. I’ve heard some mixed reviews on it, but I’m about 10 hrs in and I can honestly say that part 2 is far more enjoyable and engaging than the first one. Aside for the frame drop on the world map in handheld mode, im totally loving it.
In the first game I loved the Boss fights but found the mob fights super boring and in most games I like I enjoy the mob fights aswell even if they are easy. Not in Ni No Kuni 1
Do I need to play the first to play the second
@@KitKatM22 nope not at all. They are both standalone games.
@@KitKatM22 No you do not.
what's the difference of the PC version with the Prince edition? (Besides the console it's played on) Just checking if there are additional story lines or equipment that's not included in the PC version
Since I already own this on a PC and Playstation, I doubt I'll triple-dip any time soon. Now if this were to go on a pretty decent and deep discount then I might pick it up just for the portability.
I guess if the frame rate is unlocked it does mean it’ll run well on any future generations of switch without additional work by the game dev.
It does feel like every game needs a 30/60/unlocked frame rate option though, it’s so easy to implement.
Very good point
Hmmm. Will most likely get it when it goes on sale.
Excellent review! Just curious but did you ever get around to the dlc content?
I played this last year on PC for the first time. I really enjoyed it and would love to replay it on Switch with the portability, but I do feel like it looks to run a bit rough. I'll probably get it at some point, but I don't think I'm willing to pay a full $60 with portions of the game being sub 30 fps.
Great review guys any word on when disco Elysium will get it's port to the switch?
Thanks!
Cheers Peter! Mark
guys can you make the review of Flynn: son of crimson????, I do believe landed in switch this week
Definitely gonna wait till it's on sales
This game is really fun, man the combat is where it's at for me, I am a filthy Roland main
I have both but I like the first one.
Just curious if this ever got a patch to help that frame rate out? Also do you have video of the Switch version of the kingdom building stuff?
Good question I’ll reinstall and see
Any updates?
lmao that dramatic shower scene for the music is so accurate😂😂
What time does it launch? It's still not available for purchase.
Reminds me of actraiser meets tales of Symphonia with a dash of dark cloud 1 and 2
So I first played this on switch, it's great on extreme mode.
