Speaker Biography: Dr. Yan Asmann is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Informatics at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. Dr. Asmann developed and published many methods/algorithms for omics data analyses and integration. She has worked in cancer research and collaborated with both clinicians and basic scientists for over 15 years, including multiple immunotherapy research projects and clinical trials. Dr. Asmann co-leads the Mayo Clinic Neoantigen Vaccine Therapy Program and is MPI of multiple Investigational New Drug (IND) trials and a phase-I solid tumor basket trial using Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor and neoantigen vaccine combination therapies. Dr. Asmann also leads the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center novel biotherapeutics data science workstream. She is MPI of the NCI funded Cancer Adoptive Cellular Therapy Network (Can-ACT) Coordinating Center at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Asmann’s current research focus on developing and optimizing methods/algorithms for multi-omics integration, studying data disparities, and applying deep learning and AI methods to novel therapeutic targets/agents discovery.
Webinar: The Bioinformatics of Neoantigen Discovery and Vaccine Design
Webinar Abstract: Neoantigens are peptides derived from patient-specific and tumor-specific mutations, which can be recognized by the immune system and mediate tumor recognition that leads to immune destruction of the cancer. Neoantigens are emerging as one of the next generation immuno-oncology targets with tremendous potentials. Neoantigen can be identified by bioinformatics analyses of tumor DNA and RNA sequencing data include three steps. In this talk, I will introduce the definition, identification, prioritization of the neoantigens using tumor sequencing data. I’ll describe our REAL-neo analytic framework, including several novel modules implemented in the newest version of the pipeline.
