A church i used to attend excommunicated a man for committing adultery. And it wasn't just because he committed the sin, it was because he refused to stop committing it. Jesus said, "Go and sin no more." While this is a tall order for us pathetic humans mired in sin, nonetheless, you have to come to terms with the fact that you have to admit that what you are doing is wrong, repent and try and sin no more.
A lot of folks are skipping over the "sin no more," part and just staying comfortable in their sin. No. Since we are all drowning and die in our sin, and Jesus is the only one who can pull us out of the water, we can't just sit back in the water and refuse His hand.

thanks for the suggestion and encouragement. and you're right ...I probably should do that. I guess I haven't because I know once I get started it's going to be quite a long process. there's so much to it... early life experiences, complexities of the human mind, how I came to Christ, etc. Some interesting things I've come to know ....there are a variety of reasons people end up on the homosexual path. In my own experience my mother was extremely dominant and aggressive and my father was laid back and uninvolved. Not to say they were bad parents...it's just who they were. in my early to mid teens I had attractions to men and I didn't have a strong Christian upbringing (my mother used to drag us kids to church sporadically and on major holidays and she taught us to to believe in God and to be good...but nothing really beyond that). So I didn't realize the attractions were not unusual, and I didn't have any healthy ways to express/satisfy those feelings. also, in the seventies the media was already telling us homosexuality is perfectly normal... 10% of the population and blah blah blah. So I went with those base feelings. so that's a bit about my story...others come to that path in totally different ways. And when it comes to lesbians...it's quite true that, generally, they do seem to hate men....something about the men in their lives. But again it is all very complex and there are different stories for everyone.

I always think when people ask these questions: there is an answer that the atheist expects the believer to say, which is also what the christian will mostly likely say. In the gospels, it was the same way. The pharisee's tried to trap Jesus countless times with questions like these. Jesus always had an answer that no one could have imagined. I admire Keller because he strives for this, understanding the answer is so much deeper than what we see at the surface of religion and politics.

When I read and study the Bible with excellent teachers (mainly Calvary Chapel), I see that we are supposed to deny the flesh and try to follow well (with the help of Holy Spirit). Holy Spirit makes me notice or realize my pride or bitterness or bad attitude, my laziness and gluttony (whatever it is that needs to change). For instance, gossip is a form of murder, which I didn’t realize growing up as a “Christian” by tradition. I’m not supposed to just continue doing what I like to do (that is not how God wants me to be) but am supposed to ask God to keep convicting me and changing me to be more like Jesus. My son is about to live with his fiancé. This is wrong according to the Bible, and I pray that God’s will be done. I’ve discussed it and have asked my son to pray about it. Only God knows what He will and will not accept, and my concern is that I want to stay on the narrow road and I want to care about God’s laws. I do love gay people & because I love them, I would say that the Bible doesn’t condone acting out that lifestyle. If we didn’t love them, we wouldn’t care. Jesus said in Matthew 7:13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it”. I don’t mean any harm to gay people, but this is something serious for them to consider and take to The Lord in prayer. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 for everyone in this world, always!

But guess what? I was saddened when I did it, not angry. I didn't do it with anger in my heart. It was just a matter of fact, "I told you not to, you did, so this is what happens". Just like Jesus did. Matter of factly. "Oh you want to exchange money in the temple. Well let's see you do it with your tables upturned. Do it again and I'll do the same thing". Let us try to illuminate what people mean by "he's beating around the bush".
Let us start by making clear what are the question being asked by the interviewer.
      The interviewer asks him:
*What do so many of the churches have against homosexuality?*
_His answer:_ *_" I think most Protestant and Catholic and Orthodox Christians over the years have said you read the Bible and the Bible has reservations. the Bible says homosexuality is not God's original design for sexuality."_*
Then he change the topic about other things that the bible says that is completely irrelevant to the question because it wasn't about what the bible says or not. But the almost identical christians opposition against homosexuality is that often it use to harms the community.
So he spends most of his time talking about what he thinks the bible says instead of what Christian say and do.
*What is your church approach to homosexuality?*
_His answer:_ He never addresses this question
      *Is homosexuality a sin?*
_His answer:_ _* "what do you mean by sin? but the answer is YES..." *_
_* Are homosexuals going to hell? *_
_His answer:_ *_"you don't go to hell for being homosexual"_* Then he changes the topic about greed.
So the only conclusion you can arrive at from his answer is that Homosexuality is a sin, you don't go to hell because of it.
Do we understand better why Christian are against it? no
He was dancing around the question to give a very vague answer that wouldn't put him against other christians.

Hating the person and hating the sin are two different things. As Christians, we are to hate sin. We are to love our neighbors. As children, a lot of times we do things that our parents hate and we get punished. Does that mean that our parents hate us? No. It means that they don't like what we did, and we need to learn to make a better choice. As humans, we are not our actions. The heterosexual that lusts after someone other than their spouse is just as sinful (even though they were technically "born that way" too).

It's "gay." Homosexual is disrespectful. And the "hate the sin not the sinner" is still hating the person. You are calling the person a sinner,,,which you just said you hate. How about we accept that we are all made in God's image therefore --- love each other. The Bible has over 70 sins straight people aren't to engage in. You engage in it even though the Bible forbids it. Hate the sin not the sinner-- would include all straight, cisgender people who continually sin, and sin frequently and point fingers at every one else- which is a sin.

@@sadiegirlson8122 Cisgender is disrespectful. "Gay" is disgusting, so is the use of rainbow. That is destroying the meaning of what was a great word, and destroying God's symbolism of the rainbow. It is either normal behavior or perverted behavior.
Adam was created in the image of God. Adam chose sin and all humanity since is in the image of Adam. ALL have sinned. We ALL have sin nature. If we are in Christ, we agree with God about sin and do hate sin. We also love others as ourselves and witness to the Gospel for salvation of lost souls. YES, it is hating sin but loving the sinner.
Natural man is enslaved to sin and cannot help himself. With Jesus we are freed from the enslavement, but we still have our sinful nature as long as we live this life. So Christians will sin, but then repent and not make a practice of sinning or else their testimony is false.
Calling out sin is NOT sin. It is what we should be doing. Judging wrongly/hypocritically is what is sinful. We can judge behavior righteously; that is not judging as in condemning the individual as that is only for God to decide.

There are few sins that are called "perversion," "shameful lusts," and "indecent acts." These come from the Word of God, not from individuals. This was an opportunity to tell it like it is, as God has communicated it. Yes, love is important, we are even to love our enemies. But adulterous acts, fornication, homosexual acts, bestiality, incest, these cannot be tolerated in the church. They are very serious sins. Knowing God doesn't chasing Him so that one can be made good enough. Knowing God means knowing the price that He already paid for you--Jesus Christ. The whole Gospel is a message of hopeless unworthiness on the basis of condition and not works, that is, that God is a holy God, and that the capacity for sin is the product of free will, incomprehensibly remedied by a perfect love. In your moment of sin, there's separation; but God's heart for you isn't as a parent that scolds His children in an imperfect anger. God's heart is heartbreak, yearning for you to do the things that are best for you, because He knows what's best for you better than you know what's best and better than we know ourselves. He wants to be with you because of an untainted love. It's us who run the other way in rebellion, not the type of rebellion that rages in bitterness and a passion for hatred, but the rebellion of the nature of flesh against the original design that He created. You are good enough. He sees you as good enough. And the impossible paradoxical irreconcilable burden of sin is just to be laid at the feet of Jesus as we approach God in confidence, with boldness, yet with meekness and reverence and awe, receiving a relationship we never deserved, paid for by the one we wrong.

Alongside that, we mustnt forget that the laws back then were specifically given to the Children of Israel in order to prevent sin. As you probably know, laws can form the behavior of a society and since Israel was strongly affected by eg their neighbouring countries who have been sinning, God needed to put constrictions. Thats why it says that they are to "purge the evil" among themselves. You can later even read in the Bible how Israel starting performing these insane rituals that made them sin against God.
Most people cant imagine a thing when they hear "sin", but if you actually read about these rituals, it is quite understandable why God gave them these rules. Slicing babies throats and making them walk on fire. Having public sex with several men for demonic Gods. Homosexuality itself was also a big problem. It wasnt only inconsistent with nature, but it led to greed in the sense of "i want more sex". Saying that God has made an unrighteous judgement is nonsense. at @@elsablue3646 --- God, help us all...! Who do you believe wrote the bible? It was written more than 2,000 years After the Death of Christ . It was compiled by King James I from manuscripts of testimonials from various personages who lived in ancient times who had heard the stories themselves many generations before....So a rational thinker can easily discern that bits of conversations and stores told and retold over and over related by many different people who themselves didn't get the stories first hand,,,,can present a problem if one were to expect 100 % accuracy. Kings are notorious in believing that they have the right to manipulate and control those considered of lesser bloodline value than their own.
The crux of the matter is this: I for one, I do not recognize the bible as the authority on what God or Jesus Christ said those long ago days. Stories and conversations which have been through myriad translations and repetitions though thousands of years; plus the compelling FACT I have seen for myself when checking bible passages in bibles printed 100 plus years ago in comparison to those bibles of more recent printings, there are many parts that are almost unrecognizable because they have been changed so drastically.
People's Faith is not a debatable subject. It's purely subjective. I have faith in what I see of God's works all around me in Nature, the human eye, the laws of Physics, mathematics, the broad diversity of biological life on Earth . Its plants , mountains, rivers, oceans....which Mankind is doing all in its power to destroy the once pristine condition of Earth with his recombined organisms in their penchant for playing God. I shudder listening to preachers in their incessant harangues telling their mesmerized congregations what God thinks and intended. How can anyone know what God thinks? They don't even know how to think for themselves, let alone do God's thinking. The mess Mankind has made of this Planet is not God's work. It is Man's ignorant, misspent will at work.
I think you have no idea what the meaning is of the combination of words you put together in your comment ...I don't think any human has the right to deem an abomination anything that leads to two consenting adults engaging in whatever act leads to tender loving-ness in the act of mating toward a lifetime of discovery.

God's Word says, "if a man sleeps with a man, the way a man sleeps with a woman, it is detestable in the sight of God." It is sinful to do such things but then so to am I sinful for not loving my neighbor or for thousands of other things. God's Word tells us that "all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God" that being you and I.
The difference between the Gay person and myself is that I am repentant of my sins, meaning I want to do away with them and I fight against them, I'd rather have Christ. I still mess up as do we all. The Gay says, "I want to do what feels good" and then does it, with no sorrow that it grieves God. There is no repentance, just like with Judas. God still loves us and offers us forgiveness but for those who reject repentance; they are also rejecting God's Word and Gifts; Christ Himself. It is that rejection that ultimately leads to eternal death.
The Israelites thought they could worship Baal and God at the same time. God wiped out many of them for doing so. He sent his people into captivity. So why do folks think today they can do what they want, in defiance of God and say all will be well?

It also says that you shall not touch or eat the meat of any animal which chews cud or has cloven hooves. Ever had a steak? You're unclean in the eyes of the Lord. It is also written that if a man should work on the Sabbath day he is to be put to death, so how many people did you kill last Sunday?
If you're going to follow your Bible, follow all parts of it and not just the parts you choose. Also, it has been biologically *PROVEN* that homosexuality is epigenetic and is decided at the very earliest stages of fetal development.
Also, 99% of all species practice homosexuality. Must be a reason for that. If God really hates gays, why did he make so many of them?
Lastly, if what the Bible says about homosexuality is true, then that directly contradicts what Jesus HIMSELF said! And that is that God loves all of us and would never leave any of us. Except gays, right?

What you fail to understand is that there are different laws. You cannot compare ceremonial law and laws based upon sacrifice which were for that time, with practical laws that establish not only God's Justice but also guidance.
When Jesus came he fulfilled those laws and they were ended. He said desires Mercy not Sacrifice. The worship requirements back then were for people who lived under the law. Now we live under Grace.

The bible preaches against homosexuality, just as the church does today, it's called a moral evil. And moral evils are sins. But this is coming from a church that also thought slavery was ok, and that murdering your neighbor for working on a Sunday is commendable. Let me ask you this, if god is all good and all powerful, why does he give children cancer? It's not a game, im not trying to be funny, but you can't honestly tell me that god gives cancer to children so they howl in pain so he can have them in heaven! Whats good about that?!

@@italianGOD86 we as humans often look at a linear approach to something being good. But in terms of God we have to think retrospectively. So if God does give cancer to a child, we can’t just look at the child getting cancer, but everything that’s affected by the child getting cancer, in order to interpret the will of God. (It is quite hard for our minds to think like that). Often times his will is like a treacherous pathway that leads to a magnificent destination, due to the world we associate with. In this world it isn’t guaranteed that we won’t suffer it’s physical afflictions. May I ask where is it written that God is “all” Good? It would be impossible for God to be the judge if his being is all good. It is even written that God knows good and evil, in order so that he punishes accordingly, so we know that God himself can’t be just all good. Also how do we define good? You say good is welfare and health, but even a excess of welfare and health can be detrimental to ones being. Does that mean that this good is dependent and not independent?
