After completing my all kedarkantha vlog I thought why not make one last vlog saying all about truth. There are many things which we as humans should know about before we go to kedarkantha trek. As kedarkantha trek is big there are many things which no one talks about. I am making this vlog to be aware about those things which we need to be prepared mentally and physically both. I have listed down some points and tried to cover those points to make everyone understand what kedarkantha is all about. This will be helpful for those who are planning to visit kedarkantha for the 1st time.
Kedarkantha is a mountain peak of the Himalayas in Uttarakhand, India. Its elevation is 12,500 ft (3,800 m). Kedarkantha is located within Govind Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttarkashi district.
A trek to the peak of Kedarkantha usually starts from Sankri, a small village, and takes four days to complete.
One legend has it that Lord Shiva sat at the summit to meditate but was disturbed by a bull running below. He instead went to Kedarnath, a town in Uttarakhand, to meditate.
Another local myth relates to the Pandavas, who went to the Himalayas to seek Lord Shiva’s blessings. He hid from Bheem and disguised himself as a bull. But Bheem recognized him and went after him. So Shiva hid underground. When he rushed out of his hiding place, he let his body parts get divided, and each part fell at a different place. His throat fell on the Kedarkantha, thus earning the peak its name- transliteration- “the throat of Lord Shiva”.

Do they allow to go without a guide? Me and my friend also doing it DIY in January mid but not sure that they allow any trekker to go without a guide otherwise we ll have to hire a local sherpa there

No without Guides you cant go. You will notget the permit. Infact it's not safe without local guide as there is not fixed path for the summit. It's recommended to trek with a good travel company.. all treaking gears they will provide.
@@anusharma6019 is there any chance to get permit if we hire a local sherpa? As every company is asking for 5 days to complete the trek but we don’t have that much of days available to spend on this short trek
Thanks for this video! True, it's challenging for complete beginners but if you have done at least 2-3 Uttarakhand treks before and have a descent fitness (run 5-6 kms in 40-45 mins) you should be completely fine, It is NOT that tough.
DO NOT drink alcohol or smoke at least 10 days prior if you do otherwise it's going to mess up your stamina - that's with every trek (I smoke and drink regularly so just suggesting!)
Also, just defecate in an open pit outside, don't think so much or hold on to your shit haha! XD

Hi Nitesh apart from Decathlon thermal you can buy Lux thermal, Jockey thermal and Rupa thermal they are good and can be use in low temperatures. You can buy them from Amazon. Thanks

Hi Nimesh going in may will be different experience I can say as there will be no snow. Also I suggest to go in december to experience the winter cold. May can be little hot as summers are on the peak of temperatures. So evening will be fine but in afternoon it might get hot. May trek can provide you clean trek paths and there will be no snow.
How long we can stay at the summit..?
You can stay as much as you want but I suggest 1 to 2 hour is enough as you have to came back to base which also take time. So after sunrise 1 hour is enough to explore.

What are chances of summit if i am reaching Dehradun on 23 December so summit date would be 26 December?
Hi it depends on what date you reach sankri village. As the trek is almost 4 days. Trek starts from sankri. So 26 might not be possible i guess. From dehradun to sankri you will take one day to reach. Then 4 days of trek.

I suggest Travel light and carry your bag with you on trek. If you are going with any community then you can ask them where you can keep safly. Valuable please carry with your self only.

Hi Yuvan so the washroom facility is not great. You have to control or you can go in forest at night if its out of control. In simple way what I experience and as per my journey once you are in mountian washtoom facility is not that great.
You have exaggerated it alot. Kedarkantha is simple beautiful trek. Not so long trek. Just go with an empty mind, then only you will enjoy it.

Hii January would be snow fall period. So not sure about that. If the sky and paths are clear then definitely you can make it. But heavy snowfall will create problem for you.
