Thanks for letting me represent the C4 ZR1! 👍
I have always loved the C4 Zr1, the LT5 engine is so cool
You mean ZR-1 😜
They are still bad to the bone.
You should do one of these on the 300zx Twin Turbo. Was an unbelievable car in its time.
Rightly said yo
Bro, the content of this channel makes me feel so proud to be a car enthusiast
It's like Donut Media when they made educational videos. Now they just spend money and review it.
@@Allenfreedom1776 man, the good ol days. I was sad when he passed away though-
Edit: He did NOT pass, he left Donut to do something else.
@@Allenfreedom1776 they do pretty top notch reviews of parts and all types of things honestly

Ikrr
Had no idea the C6 ZR-1 sold that badly... what a shame. A dream car for me only beaten by a ACR Viper.
Good taste
Not in a straight line. Whereas on the track you'd have to be a good driver and hope the Viper slips a little.
@@kirkyturki1546 Meant that as the viper beating out the C6-ZR1 as a dream car.
@@solocamo3654 Ahhh gotcha. I would say shame on you since the Viper's the rival of the Vette, but both fans tend to agree that both cars are worthy opponents, and I'd be lying if I said I could care less for the Viper.
They didn’t “sell badly.” It was a limited production car…
Just found your channel and wow dude. This is great!
Bro I’ve been watching your channel forever! Ever since the early Twin Turbo WS6 videos, big reason I bought one back in 2017🙏🏽 it’s an honor

Extraordinary content! What do you think of having a poll of what you should do next? Or do you already have some ideas lined up?
My favorite models have always been the ZR1s because of how overkill they are. In my mind, the zr1 represents what Europeans think of when they think of American excess, extra everything. More power, more downforce, more hood, more air, and more than you need. They're beautiful
AND still cheaper
I like how you think. See my post above. Its gut wrenching torque melts some people into puddles. >:} However, even better is its handling on a track or good roads. Think: 200 MPH go kart =:0 and you'll get the picture.
From an European who will probably never see a C4 ZR1 in person - it's a stunning car with iconic looks!
They came in some crazy colors. There was one locally that was a light purple. Actually wasn't a bad looking car
If I can figure out how to move to Sweden, you might catch me in mine!
@@funchfriesThe C4 is a beautiful car if you ever get to see a clean one. They look much better than the photos.
I own a 95 LT1. The car turns heads in public much like a modern supercar.
The legend returns. These feel like short very high quality documentaries. Love your videos.
Too short. By the time I am invested, the video is over... and I really don't even care about this stuff.
It not only set the FIA 24 hour endurance record, but also set the 5K km and 5K mile records as well. They were only beat years later by a one off, purpose built, prototype race car, and I believe the records still stand to this day for a production car.
The C4 in general broke a TON of records and it's a shame it's one of the lesser respected Vettes.
Edit: For now.
The original design of the LT5 provided was supposed to surpass 500hp but GM shot it down as they wanted to keep the bore size and spacing of the 5.7.
Meaning if GM produced the engine as originally designed, would that have meant we could’ve have looked at a potential 6 liter big block in an earlier version?
They could have made it into a 6 or 6.6 litre and kept the same bore spacing. That would have gotten closer to 450 to 500 horsepower.
The LT-5 while designed by Chevrolet and Lotus was built by MerCruiser in Stillwater OK.
Great Content !
I'm still amazed at how transformed this channel keep up the good work
Sounds like Colion Noir doing this narration??
@@yukonjack. I agree!!!
The C7 ZR1 is just sick!!! As are the others but they got the looks perfect on the C7 ZR1.
Too many scoops, inlets, and aero thingy's for my taste. I like the C4 a lot more. Its got uninterrupted curves like a sexy woman ;-)
@@innerlightfilms And if someone doesn’t realize it’s a ZR-1 (which it looks similar to 1991+ C4s but has a few key differences) you also got yourself a sleeper! (Although some people just think all Corvettes and Mustangs and Muscle cars are fast)
@@destruxandexploze2552 very true. I used to be one of them. Was shocked to find out how slow some of the models were.
@@innerlightfilmsThe C4 is one of the most beautiful cars ever made, if you ever get to see a clean one in person.
The side profile on the LT1/4 models is gorgeous.
@@itsjamilagain I agree! I own a 93 ZR-1 with 21k miles.
LT-5 can make big power N/A. I've seen strokers do 6xxwhp. It was way ahead of it's time.
Lotus was also working on a second version LT5 with even more power. There's a video on it somewhere on youtube. If it had gone into production it would have been just insane for a street car in the 90s.
Doesn't even need new cams or a change in displacement; simply port-matching and polishing the intakes and heads, installing a freer- flowing exhaust, and swapping the flywheel for a lighter one will take you from 375 stock to around 500 HP, which is already more than the chassis knows what to do with for anything other than drag-racing.
@@vomErsten Who said it needs it? I said I've PERSONALLY seen LT-5's make in excess of 600whp. You're not making that kind of paper on the stock displacement. These are mainly 415ci. And plenty LT-5's tore up the drag strip strip over the years, where have you been. lol
Loving this! I’m currently looking for a C6 Z06 Carbon Edition because I love that LS7 but that LS9 is no joke.

@@quarrena280c7 You conveniently forgot that the C4 Corvette ZR-1 had a D.O.H.C. V8, which was co-developed with Lotus and Mercury Marine.
LS7 and LS9 were two of the best sounding V8s on top of everything else.
LS9 is just….theirs no way of describing it at all.

My dad has been in the auto industry for over 20 years. Before he left GM the last project he worked on was actually the c8. He’s told me that the c8 zr1 will be supercharged, hybrid, and awd. (Electric motors on the front axle) they are supposed to be shooting for 1000 hp.
I believe that will be the Zora, as the ZR1 has already been confirmed to be twin-turbo'd. But that's interesting nonetheless.
I hope it is supercharged I will buy it instead of the 5.5L twin turbo the supercharger will go crazy
Well for someone who worked on the c8 development team, he sure was wrong about the c8 zr1 lmao
It’s been amazing to have worked in engine design engineering and engine manufacturing for the past 40 year, what a ride, no pun intended!
I worked on a lot of c4 ZR1s back in the day
(Just a suggestion) can you do something about the bikes like [why Hayabusas destroys everything] [why ninja H2 and H2R is too powerful ] or something in that sense would Love it🍻😁

Nice car man! I own a 95 LT1 and was blown away when I first test drove it. The ZR-1 must be insane.

Me too, didn't realize there were less than 5000 in 2009 👍
Jealous, man. I own a C4 LT1. Got to talk to a guy about his C6 in that light blue color. IMO the best color next to the orange. Car is nuts in person.
The Fuckin’ Alex clips killed me 🤣
Yo this video is QUALITY! Great content, flow, visuals, audio. I could watch a hundred videos like this. KEEP THEM COMING!
the C6 ZR1 will forever be my favorite Corvette no matter what
Facts I think they perfected the design of the C4 and C5 when they made the C6, and then tried to be a little too unique with the C7. It's really weird now that the new Corvette doesn't look like a Corvette. Tbh it's like the Corvette has become transgender, it got rid of its stick and replaced it with some flappy paddles.
no V8 will ever surpass the C6 ZR1 in sound. No other engine ever sounded so much like a force of nature.
I don't particularly like V8s, but the LS9 is special.
The ZR-1 is special
The C6 ZR1 is gorgeous
Thank you for spelling them correctly. Only the C4 had the hyphen.
Thanks for this video ....my dad seen somthing years ago gm wanted 1000hp by 2008 he believed it whit everything .....he passed away in 16 but just hearing that the Corvette is heading to 1000hp made me think my dad wish he could see it man ..... rip gearhead
Great to see you back man, happy new year I love your videos they have been a great teaching tool for me to learn about engines thanks much respect 🙏
Your content is superb. The history lesson with animation is awesome. Thank you
That looks like Alex Flores (YDBT) in his C6 ZR1, nice.
I’ve always been curious how crazy the c6 zr1 would of been if they built it around the ls7 from z06 and why they didn’t do that. Still my favorite new model corvette and I’ll own one at some point in my life.
Had the chance to shoot the shit with an owner. The car is *insane.* The window to the motor on the hood is sick in person.
The cylinder walls are to thin on the ls7 to take any boost, so they would of had to make a whole new ass engine anyway.

The C6 ZR1 was a wonder to behold. It took the Corvette to supercar level of performance ❤
as an owner of a 91 ZR1 and a 19 ZR1 I can attest to all that! love them. my 69 427 L-36 is closest I could come to the 70 ZR1 because those are unattainable. My next one is the C6 ZR 1 but the prices are starting to get crazy.
