I’m 52 and I aspire to have as grown-up and sophisticated home as you already have!
I’m sorry, but I kinda see you following what everyone else on CZcams is doing, and the reason I’ve enjoyed watching you is because you are DIFFERENT.
You truly do not need to assimilate to a specific look, that all the others have regurgitated over and over again.
Homogenizing everything to look something like it came from a big box store is not going to fit your already elegant personal style aesthetic.
You are amazing and unique, Kristen!
You definitely do not need to download the same artwork that people with no imagination or talent are using.
Your collection of pictures are breathtaking and such a sweet soft beautiful look.
You haven’t even done anything yet on my end, but I fear what I’m about to see!

She's young and leaning into her need for change. If we don't change things up once in a while it begins to feel stagnant.
Just because you feel a certain way doesn't mean she's doing something wrong. Let her do what makes her happy, instead of projecting what you think onto her. ✌️

The comment was a bit dramatic at the end there lol..
.on the one hand I see your point, and on the other she did pick out her favorite prints out of thousands and it’s okay to move away from the sometimes stuffy air of thrifted art. I find that these downloadable offer a classic look with monochrome tones making it a more modern choice.

😂 it’s kind of ironic that the new trend is the look you have already achieved. You were ahead of the trend. A moody color room…collected look with your gallery wall. That’s a lot of work. I can understand wanting to lighten up the room as it will be used as a nursery/kidroom. It’s beautiful what you have, I’m sure what you refresh will look beautiful too. Love the new frames. Love your channel.

I admit I always enjoyed your gallery wall, but I too am always ready for a change. What I love about you is your style and how you don’t follow the trends that are happening every season. Your home is always an extension of you and your family and when someone walks in your home they learn who you are In a way that words don’t speak and actions don’t show. Love your video as always! ❤

When I was growing up, not only did we move once a year, my mom was always changing her decor, and rearranging everything. So rearranging things and changing out art and decor feels like the natural thing to do. No matter how much work it takes for me, it’s worth it in the end, because I want to be in love with everything. It always makes me see all of the beautiful things that I’ve collected again, instead of them “being part of the furniture.”
Gallery walls are really fun and pretty, but they’re busy. For the season you’re in of wanting things more simple, the switch you made seems perfect.

Kristen, I rarely comment but always like and follow the content creators that inspire and speak to me. I too am from Nebraska, my parents are still there (west of Lincoln in a small community) and I moved to Arkansas exactly 20 years ago and still gravitate towards things that remind me of home (Platte River comment when looking at art, warmed my heart...I Love the simplicity of the Platte). I grew up in the family business, (parents were antique auctioneers and collectors) and I too have a house filled with ALL kinds of antiques (from many eras and styles, victorian, primitive, crocks, etc). I love your style as it is very similar to mine. Like you, I constantly change things up and lately, I too seek more simplicity but struggle because I LOOOOOVE all my old things! Keep doing you and share yourself with us. I admire you for putting content together and sharing it with us. Those who comment what you should and should not be doing----Ignore them. The creative design process is a deeply personal thing and you and only you get to decide what speaks to your heart. Thanks for sharing your vulnerability with us.

You said you wanted the room to feel more grown up and sophisticated... I feel that is what the gallery wall did. The one large framed art seems so predictable to me. Whereas the gallery wall had such style and movement visually. But this is your home. Also in Ivy's room... color drenching walls and trim is so in right now. I love it. Maybe adding a vintage wood wall unit for books and decor would give it that library feel.

You paid a fair price and got 3 lovely frames you'll enjoy for many years. You have a wonderful eye for decorating!

I loved the gallery wall, but it’s always fun to swap things around! If you can find a piece of foam core or 1/4 inch plywood you can make a baker board for your large print. Krysta Meeker has lots of tips for using the old frames! ❤

  • @anneelisehudson8020
    @anneelisehudson8020 Před 6 měsíci +5

Love the living room refresh. To eliminate the wiggle of the canvas, you could try mounting it to foam core board. The earlier gallery wall was charming, but if you had wanted to keep it I would have recommended opening in it up a bit, with greater space between the pieces (and perhaps editing out a few!). And propping up the stacked empty frames on your fireplace looks fantastic…the frames alone are art, and bring a certain quietness to your space. Do you need to fill them?

Hi Kristen..sometimes I ask myself what is wrong with me and I decided I just like to change our house all the time. I had a gallery wall in my hall. I loved yours and actually loved mine but got tired of it and now there is nothing on that wall but the thermostat..lol. I decorate for every season which is not grown up. I have so many thrifted items I just want to use everything . Keep your pictures…you might want to do it again somewhere else. I can see wanting the nursery to be lighter. I am loving wall paper again, but my husband and I can do everything but wall paper , plus our house is old and walls not even. Whatever you do , you know it can be changed . My friends and my sister are minimalist ..I am not, but maybe simple would be nice. I love whatever you do, I like how your diy came out. You look beautiful ❤❤❤

I don't know if you will see this now but when I first saw your home, I thought how odd you walk into the dining room instead of an entry hall or living room. Now, I think it is just the most adorable farmhouse I have ever seen, and if I built one, I would use your floorplan. I just live your kitchen too and did think for awhile make that back porch your formal dining and the dining room you now have a formal entry with round table in the middle holding a big flower vase and some books.

Wonderful inspiration & encouragement for all of us to "take in"! We're all skilled at something & we'll never find out what that skill is unless we get out there and try. The paint refresh on the lamp & crock turned out wonderfully well. I was a bit concerned with your decision to pain the crock, but it actually turned out to be perfect for that corner you were trying to brighten up. I, personally, love being creative in my home. Hi Kristen,
I love your home and how it’s decorated, however, I have to agree with you about the changes. I personally wouldn’t change anything but it’s your home and you need it to match your style. I have a gallery wall in our guest room and it is on two walls wrapping around the corner to make a cozy spot for the antique bed. Our guest have said they feel they are being hugged. I just counted and there are 30 some pieces of art, all vintage and thrifted.
I know that seems to be a lot but I just keep them here and enjoy them until I decorate another area of my home and then bring these items to another spot. It’s also fun to change art from room to room.

Other than a few new pieces of furniture in my home, all my furniture is either old oak or walnut, my walls/trim/ceilings are a creamy white. My picture frames range from modern, thin black, brass or silver, raw edged wood, vintage wood and frameless glass- the pictures range from landscapes, seascapes, family (color and black and white), vintage posters and oil and acrylic paintings. I don’t crown anything like your gallery wall, and I change and rotate everything to freshen the look of a room, I even change out some pictures in the frames according to season. And I tend to the denim blue-navy and olive to forest green fabrics for upholstery and pillows and throws (curtains are a natural linen throughout with wood woven shades). There is nothing wrong with changing things up- we all mature and enter different seasons of our lives where we may be maximalists one season, minimalists another season, etc- and as we mature, our tastes get more refined as in what we like and what we keep as our base, like the blues in my home- that has been a base for all my 41 years as a homemaker. I will say, do not march to the beat of others as in trends, etc- keep to what speaks to your heart, your aesthetics and what works for your family.

Gallery walls are tricky…I think the key is frames that are similar finishes. I’m not into minimal walls. I love full gallery walls if done well.

Yes center the picture over the couch, and Move the fiddle Leaf. You can always move it.

Kristen, I have taken off work to do some surgeries. I get cabin fever . I have changed my house around so much, my boyfriend says it's like a new home every time he walks in. Change is always good. ❤

I rarely comment but here goes. I love the large frame centered over the couch & maybe add 2 small pictures (with matching frames)on the other side. Just an idea 💡 Please stay true to yourself. ❤

Three years ago, I professionally transformed lamps and vases by incorporating not just paint but also spackle, and dirt, resulting in an impressive outcome. Kristen you did an excellent job. ❤

It's beautiful! You can use spray glue to adhere the print to poster board to give it some stability.

Kristen you have such a sweet, humble & beautiful personality… you always make me smile & feel like what I have in my home is enough & you help me realize I can love my decor even if no one else does.
Thank you for being you! 🤗
I had to laugh when you said you wanted a more grown up sophisticated look to your home… I too feel the same way. I’m loving the changes you’re making… I loved the before but I think change is good for us women… especially when it comes to our homes… it makes us fall in love with our home all over again.
The lamp & vase turned out so good … I’ve wanted to try the technique to a vase I bought at goodwill a while back but was too afraid I’d mess it up…you sweet friend gave me the courage to go for it! Thank you for sharing your home, time & the words of Jesus with us.

As much as I loved the gallery wall I love the new simplified look even better! Beautiful! If you cut a large piece of cardboard you may be able to fit it inside the back of the large frame to stabilize the picture.

You could Mod podge your large print onto a foam core board to make it lay flat.

I would center the frame with your couch. I would like the big plant put on the left of the frame like you suggested. I love the picture in the frame you put on the wall. Looks so neat and clean.
