I just loaded my young mare onto the trailer successfully on the first try yesterday, and I did everything you said! I would have been happy if she had just put her feet on the ramp, but she loaded 3 times within 7 minutes. No problems at all! We had one session with you when she was 9 months old, and we've been so good ever since!
I have just stumbled across your video and it's so refreshing that you are honest and have horses that are not super trained to load, it's good to see the positive reinforcement that's easy for everyone to use and practice with. The key words are patience and time. We are lucky to have a loader, I do give him a treat every now and then as a reward, but should we ever need to start again I'll definitely be using your method.
Thank you for a beautiful video that specifically demonstrates effective reward training. Too many people only understand using force to get a worried, timid or unwilling horse into a trailer. It is so much better to understand that a horse is experiencing fear or not really understanding. I much prefer reward vs punishment, threats or force. I also think that rewards & a positive experience are so much better in the long run.
I love when you post youtube videos. I have learned so much and wish I lived in the UK instead of the USA. Please consider posting more info/training with Blondie. I had not seen her since your "Troubled Mare" video (8 months) and thought it was such a sad story of humans not caring for this mare. In all honesty, I didn't think you would be able to make much of a difference. I WAS SO WRONG!!! You are patient, amazing and tenacious. Well done!
The first view we had of Blondie was actually perfect for the viewer, we could clearly see her lifting her leg and trying her hardest to put it on the ramp. Both horses did very well.
Wauw look at them, what a smooth start and important it's fun. "Yay mom, another cooky, I can do that." Maybe you can practice also with your clients if they have difficulty with loading or when the horse is new to it. Marvelous Miri, welldone or in Dutch Goedzo. 🤗💖
It may help Blondie if you create a similated ramp and similiar area where she feels she can fit in when she realises she needs to turn before her hindlegs leave the ramp.
so nice to see you using R+. I would say your bridging noise isn't quite concise enough - A click( I just use my tongue to mimick the sound of a clicker) or even the word Good would make it clearer for her the exact moment she's done the right thing! You're doing so well, another great video :)
I have a funny questian how would your horse react with U and 1 of your friends were dressed as this tik tok horse called jake the fake with U 2 in riding boots? its silly & stupid I know
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the spectacular hedges? They are amazing.

From what I understand it helps horses if you cover the black ramps with wood chips it helps the horse to see where the edges of the ramp

I am stuck at the Blondie positioning of 4 feet on the ramp. Really curious about the next step

Steve Young horsemanship channel here on CZcams has some great videos on loading
Great? I suspect you've missed the point of this video... Slow...break things down...don't use force and fear....
