I cannot believe I did not know this. You would think Garmin would have this somewhere in a tutorial?????? Thank you very much!

    Hey Capt.
Love your channel. Do you know what would cause my boat icon to track differently since installing my AP. It seems to dog track across the screen of center

So this sounds like a major issue that I had on my boat. My boat icon on the screen was going almost sideways. This is because the heading sensor thinks you are going in a different direction.
I spent months trying to resolve this issue and this issue is what led us to make these videos to help people. Check out a video that I have in my playlist for the Garmin electronics for the diagnostic. This walks you through checking the magnetic interference on your heading sensor based on its current location. The score is from 0-100 with 100 being the best. You will never get to 100 because we have things in the boats that give it interference but it should be as close as possible. If you have a low score, you will want to relocate the heading sensor to a spot away from metals and batteries to raise the score. Once you move it, you will need to complete the set up wizard in the water. We also have a video on that in the Garmin playlist.
Once we did this on our boat and completed the sea trial calibration, everything went back to normal and works perfectly fine.
It sounds like this might be your issue.
