Henri François Joseph Vieuxtemps was a Belgian composer and violinist. Towards the end of his life he also composed for other instruments, including cello. This is the first of his two cello concertos, wriiten in 1877. The performance here was recorded on February 17th 2017 in Lahti, Finland.

É o vídeo de uma gravação magnífica que ouço pela vez primeira, na interpretação de um mais do que promissor jovem cellista!... Mas, Sr. afamado Maestro, não consegui entender porque, com alguma frequência, entendeu que o solista estava atrapalhando a sua orquestra que o sobrepôs com exagerada eloquência!...
Esse maestro é insuportável!!! Mau caráter! Teve uma atitude absolutamente escrota com Horácio Schaefer quando regeu a Osesp. Sempre que veio ao Brasil (regendo a OSESP) estava com cara de "quem comeu e não gostou"...

Downbow stac. in the last movement… is this guy even human???
When I learned this concerto many years ago I couldn't get the passage in 25:12 clean. Neither did he, now I don't feel as guilty anymore! haha
It's the single downside of this piece. You gotta pick if the 3rd movement is played slightly slower than you'd like, or that section will sound bad. I prefer the whole thing a bit slower, then that section shines beautifully!
Orchestra ought to pipe down a tad.......😂😂😂😂.....truly magnificently played by this young man......
