    Back in the day, I was shown how to hide nail and screw heads by lifting a chip with a gouge. Works a treat.

    That was a great video. Nice to be reminded that it is okay to just get in the shop and try something new.

    After your last video, I was actually toying with the idea of making a 1/2" version of the Stanley 96 with brass sides dovetailed into a mild steel base. I think I like your idea better.

    That wouldn't just be useful for hiding mechanical fasteners but also dowels if you didn't want the ends showing.

    Hi James, love the videos and projects. But I do have one suggestion based on your recent videos, including this one, where you took a different approach for the sake of getting the video out on time.
    You might end up burning yourself out - this happened to another woodworker in the UK, search for Keith Brown woodworking. He used to set himself up to do a weekly video and eventually it took a massive mental toll on him and he found he wasn't enjoying it anymore. Now he does videos at his own pace.
    May I suggest slowing down and doing projects how you would if you were not making a video.

      @WoodByWrightHowTo  Před rokem +1

      Thanks man. It's not about time it's just when the videographer is in town. He drives an hour down to shoot videos so we try and get everything in for him. The video footage was all shot over a month ago so there's no rush that way just on the day of you have to get it done before the videographer leaves.

  • @showersdpn
    @showersdpn Před rokem +1

    Can you please do a project using it? The part where you are using it was too short. Thanks.

    • @WoodByWrightHowTo
      @WoodByWrightHowTo  Před rokem +1

      There really aren't any projects to use on it. As I don't do much with nails and screws. The commonplace is if you have a loose board you can peel up a bit of the surface put a nail or screw down and then glue it back in place and try to hide the nail. For general new furniture you don't normally want to hide the fasteners otherwise they become an absolute pain if you ever need to take it apart or make adjustments.

    What type of saw are you using at ~6:46? I had previously assumed it was a sash saw, but I think I see you using it for crosscuts a fair amount.

    • @WoodByWrightHowTo
      @WoodByWrightHowTo  Před rokem

      That is a sash saw made by Jared greene. Sash saws have a crosscut tooth.

    The tenon saw your using on your bench hook, is that filed for crosscutting like your Veritas carcass saw?

    Question ⁉️ how thick is your narrex marking knife??

    • @WoodByWrightHowTo
      @WoodByWrightHowTo  Před rokem +1

      I don't have a Narex knife. I gave mine away to a friend a while ago. The one I have now is made for me by @danTheMakerMan it is a little bit thinner than a 16-in. It's made out of an old circular saw blade.

    Watching the making of this project for the half-inch chisel, it came to me that you like spread sheets. Have you done a spread sheet about glues? It could be comparing similar glues of different brands and also different glues. We all accept the statements from the glue companies, but how true are they? Just an idea.
