I got a pair of these in good condition. Only some minor cosmetic scratches that are only noticeable if you know they're there for $70 bucks. Best $70 I ever spent on earbuds or headphones. Would have gladly paid double that.

For me anything Sony has offered after the XM4s is just very gimmicky. I don't like the way the new headphones will not fold up like the XM4s. My XM4s are really comfortable and sound great. I've seen no need to upgrade since.

I actually prefer the ULT since it's more comfortable for me, blocks certain noises a bit better and with the right EQ settings sounds very similar to the XM4 (to my non-audiophile ears) except more "depth". But you have the XM4 already and they are comfortable for you then certainly no reason to upgrade. But for new purchase I would go with the ULT which is also a lot cheaper where I live. And it folds up and comes with a hard case just like the XM4.

@@saschaheylikI agree, I also like the ult a lot, to me it sounds better and is more comfortable than both XM4 and XM5. The upside to the XM4 is the sleek look (both headphones and case), the ult looks super clunky in comparison

@@satori8626 yes that is true. Can't have it all I guess. It's funny that even if I was rich and had an unlimited budget the perfect anc headphones don't seem to exist

In my opinion the XM4 are still a good buy, they are comfortable, you can fold them and take them anywhere, on the other hand the xm5 do not seem to me to be a significant evolution and the fact of not being able to fold them takes away points from them, being that they are headphones designed for traveling and personally I do not like the design line that many headphone manufacturers are following, they look very large and not very transportable unlike the xm4 which look a little more "pretty" to my taste, in the case of headphones I do not see it necessary to have to make a change every 2 or 3 years as if it were a cell phone, I think that if you like how it sounds and they fit your budget it is more than a victory.

Dub at deafening volume, not many can do that, but if AMC is the main point, it's better than xm5, which got bricked by adaptive anc.

I know nothing about audio and the terminology, but since I needed a new headset I have been comparing the XM4 as well as the ULT Wear, soundcore Q30 and bose QuietComfort over the last couple of days.
IMHO I would say that the ULT probably wins over the XM4 and the others *with the right EQ settings*, closely followed by the QC in case I still find some reason to decide against the QC.
First thing I noticed about the XM4 is that I could not wear it long because the cups are too shallow for my ears. With the Q30 it was better but not perfect.
So based on fit/comfort alone that leaves the ULT and the QC which I can both wear for multiple hours. The ULT has a higher clamping force which bothered me in the beginning when I had the headband set on 3 clicks, but it turns out that this was too small for me and I can set it to 5 clicks and then it's ok so far. Would still prefer it a touch looser but perhaps it will still loosen up a bit with use?
After testing different settings I found that I might even prefer the ULT sound over XM4 and the others.
With these EQ settings I find that it sounds so close to the XM4 that I find it hard to tell the difference except it has more "depth"/better bass without losing anything else:
    4,5,10,7,5, ult1, clear bass 0
I find that EQ to be best for different kinds of music that I tried it with, no ult with otherwise same settings has too little bass and ult2 is just pointlessly overblown in most cases. Except I found certain songs where there is e.g. a drum beat but it's too quiet for my taste. Using ult 2 on that then gets it to where I would want it to be.
The Bose QC is not bad at all, and contrary to what I read it also has good "audible" bass as well as a bit more clarity in the highs. But the ULT once again seems to have more "depth" and if you want a bass that is also felt a bit, not just heard.
Regarding ANC I also find the ULT to be identical to the XM4 but a bit better at blocking certain frequencies. The QC seems very close to the XM4 but lets in just slightly more noise.
The software features of the ULT like the touch controls on the ULT seem identical to the XM4. You can hold your hand on the right side of the ULT, it will pause the music and you can hear someone and have a conversation. This actually works really well, it doesn't introduce a static noise like soundcore products with their transparency mode.
The sony app is telling me on the ult that when multipoint is enabled LDAC cannot be used. But tbh I am not sure I would be able to hear the difference. And SBC XQ 552 would be better than LDAC that can run as low as 330.
I found that I can connect the ULT on my linux PC using SBC XQ 552kbps and have a stable connection, while the XM4 and QC are only stable at regular SBC. They offer higher XQ settings but then I get an unstable connection or regular moments where the sound drops out. I am not sure if Windows or Android support or use the the higher SBC XQ bitrates or regular SBC only.
The ULT also looks and feels like it has the most robust build and hinges.
So in summary I would say that it's not worth it to buy the XM4 over the ULT, which is also a lot cheaper right now on german Amazon, 140€ instead of 230€.

Frankly, I think that the ULT is better for me. It is two headphones in one because you can enjoy the BASS as well. After that, you can lower the bass to listen to quiet music. Also, the noise isolation in the ULT, specifically in the center, may be better. Buying a product that has an old battery and circuit may oxidize or suffer. Problems: I do not know if the production line for the XM4 headphones was stopped when the XM5 was launched

    Definitely worth buying.
To improve audio, you can use Wavelet.
What surprised me the most is the ANC quality which is very close to the Bose Ultra headphones. If I had tested them side by side, I wouldn't have bought the Bose.

    pros:
1-Its foldable and far more compact i was putting it directly to my jackets big pocket in winter
2-its far more comfortable because xm5s headband is worser for long use its like knife
3-It has faaaar mor phsicallity in its bass because of bigger drivers
    cons:
1-its trancparency mode is MONO (may be only my unit)
2-its muddy as hell even getting bass from treble notes
3- very bad sound signature compared to momentum 3 in its time
4-no aptx as XM3 has so on android LDAC is a headace to get better quality than pure AAC encoder of android. LDAC has very low volume or quality problems on a lot of android versions.
