Sarah (Robin Tunney) does a spell turning her eyes brown and her hair blonde.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
After killing her mother in childbirth, growing up in San Francisco with her father and stepmother, attempting suicide, and moving to Los Angeles, Sarah (Robin Tunney) makes a brief stab at popularity at her new Catholic high school. Ostracized due to the untrue kiss-and-tell tales of football player Chris (Skeet Ulrich), Sarah reluctantly befriends a trio of self-styled outsiders: the horribly scarred Bonnie (Neve Campbell), the trailer-trash Nancy (Fairuza Balk), and Rochelle (Rachel True), a frequent victim of anti-black prejudice at the hands of Laura Lizzie (former Marcia Brady and future Mrs. Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor). After exhibiting latent telekenitic powers in front of Bonnie, Sarah learns that her three new friends have chosen her as their "fourth corner," the final member of their supernatural coven. Using tools stolen from a local incense-and-candle-filled boutique for practitioners of magic, the quartet summons the power of Manon, a primitive deity, to exact revenge on their tormentors and transform their lives. Drunk with power, they watch their spells get out of control, and the new coven soon realizes that with magic, "whatever you give comes back three-fold." This mid-'90s horror flick scored first place at the box office its opening weekend despite its then-unknown cast and modest budget. TV star Neve Campbell, who didn't even receive top billing, would go on to become the '90s answer to '70s horror queen Jamie Lee Curtis in the Scream franchise.

Me being old, this is really funny to read. All 1990’s movies had the technology for awesome special effects. In fact, most high budget movies from the 80’s also had brilliant special effects. And don’t forget Star Wars was from 1977.

That is...until they summoned a pagan god that Nancy willfully had possess her, got drunk on power and became absolutely batshit insane, making the other girls cocky and power-hungry, using spells to psychologically torture Sarah because she knew they were being immoral, eventually trying to make Sarah either kill herself, or stab her instead. 👏🥰

If you read the script the REAL reason they turned against Sarah is because after Chris died the police came to her house and she said he was drunk and tripped... they then went to Nancy’s fancy apartment and said “let’s have fun with this girl” and she told them the same story but one of the detectives lied and said “Thats not what Sarah Bailey said.. she said you pushed him” and she said “Sarah is a liar who will pay for her sins”. In the bathroom scene where Sarah was crying she told Nancy she didn’t say that to the cops and Nancy simply didn’t believe her... so her idea was to make Sarah kill herself and leave a note saying she killed Chris to get the heat off of her.

The irony is, Nancy declares "It's real!" when she touches Sarah's hair, but Robin Tunney wore a wig all through this movie.

I didnt want to see the part where they turned against each other. The girls had seemingly genuine interaction in this scene and the forest scene.
I've been thinking about why this movie, resonates so much with young female movie goers. It's a female power fantasy. Not a lot of those about. I dig it.

I think that’s why a lot of girls get into witchcraft when they’re young, they want to feel magical and powerful and go on adventures and stuff, so they get into witchcraft and wicca.
The girls have perfect chemistry in this part of the movie.
I wish they had more scenes like this.
This movie is just as fantastic now, as it was then. I have always seen these ladies as female versions of the lost boys, in a sense that they are seen by society as pariahs, yet they would sooner die for each other than they would condone a death of their own. ....And then, Nancy lost all sense of (possible) sanity, and tried to kill a friend she's killed for. LOL...

Nancy and her mother seemed very happy and enjoying themselves at their new place
This movie was so good they made a whole TV series out of it and it lasted for a long time. They even used the theme song as the opening to the show.
The TV series you're talking about is charmed it was so successful it lasted 8 seasons it starred Holly Marie Combs /Shannen Doherty /Alyssa Milano then soon after was Rose McGowan

All that power went to her head, I’m guessing.
After they did the invocation ceremony at the beach and she came out of the ocean it really changed her. Any empathy she had disappeared. And then she went home and killed her dad.
Because the spell they cast to get what they wanted resulted in consequences, in Nancy’s case, she asked for more power and it granted her wish but also made her more psychotic

What that show failed to capture is the impending doom or the authenticity of being a witch.

People want their bodies to conform to clothes, when back (like victorian) in the day the clothes conformed the bodies! This is a fact, there's a lot of videos about people in the 2000's who wear victorian clothes for a living and they talk about how the clothing industry changed body image over the years.

I love my brown eyes! Green eyes are my favorite and am so happy that my boyfriend has the prettiest light green eyes but brown eyes can be beautiful if you wear the right make up. I have really fair skin and almost black hair and dark brown eyes sometimes they turn hazel.

Believe it or not, we had good special effects in the 90s. We've had them since the 60s, really, depending on the budget. Jurassic Park came out three years before this.
