Aside from being helpful, I loved the energy in this video. Just the way you patiently explained everything to the viewer and the small talk. I hope your hand is better!
I love your videos Jamie...colouring is just one of my crafty hobbies! I sometimes feel quite intimated by seeing what some 'colourists' produce, but you make things look so achievable 🤗. Keep up the good work 💕. Thank you - Linda (UK) xx
I have this same hand pain. I found these fingerless gloves at Walgreen's that are for arthritis and they work great and also work as a smudge glove so double the use lol. Less than 20 dollars. Great video, so helpful.
You're a trooper Jamie, for doing this tutorial even with your aching hand! Thank you very much for sharing your techniques. I have rarely used my water-based markers since they are so streaky. This is a must try for me, so I can use my materials :D Hope you feel better soon!
@@jamiescoloringlove That is great to know. I have been very reluctant to do any colouring in my Hanna Karlzon books for fear of ruining them. LOL... I have just been colouring my Dreamtime Special for her artwork. Perhaps I need to try!
That is what I did in summer nights. I purposely bought it to play with different things in it. Being perfectly okay with epic fails.. lol. I figure I can always buy another.
@@jamiescoloringlove Very true! It is always hard to tell what mediums will work well and what may not on certain papers. I always take progress photos of my colourings too, so just in case the end image is ruined, at least I can figure out the parts I liked ;) LOL...
Thx 4 the tutorial. I've started using markers as a base. There's so much 2 learn. I don't like streaks, but blotches r OK with me. Life has blotches. Gives it character.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I too have been having hand pain and so have wanted to learn to work more with markers. I hope your hand pain has resolved in the last year, but if you want some tips, I"m happy to oblige. As someone with arthritis, I'm having to learn to hack my coloring process too and I've found some useful stuff.
And hope your hand gets better! After you finish coloring, take a bag of frozen peas and spread your hand out on it for at least ten minutes. You may have started getting some carpel tunnel. There are some stretches and ways to deal with it. I have a mild bit of it and I do stretches, ice, and I took an old pair of socks to rest my wrist and palm on when I’m at the computer. Those things have helped and kept it at bay.
I’ve used strictly pencils for. The last several yrs, and am just now wanting to try using marker base in my colourings ( very late to the party I know. 😄 Although, better late than never! I found this video very helpful. Thank you. ❤xo
Looks great! I use sometimes use the marker technique also but with waterbased markers. Learned the hard way to let it dry first before adding my pencils. I hope your hand feels better really soon!
First time I've seen your videos, and let me tell you great job👍🏻. You do see the the lighter color of the light yellow. Love the sound of the kids in the background 😊. The tips are great for people that in my case I have a RA and my hands tend to hurt the same way when i color or do other types of craft like cross stitching. When your hand get to much pain do cold and warm therapy. Used cold for 15 mins and then hot for the same amount of time, and depending how strong the pain is do it every 1-2 hrs. Hope that helps you as well that works on me 😉🥰 PS: if you have the time someday can you do a little tutorial to do leafs with the same technique... Thamks! 🤩
Water based markers are streaky. If you dont want to ruin the next page, take a copy and use alcohol markers, love them. Bics fine point are my favorite.
Hey there Jamie, Im a year late on this video so I’m sure your hand has recovered. I definitely prefer alcohol markers to watercolor markers. The water markers take too long to dry and on some paper the water marker make the paper all mushy and lumpy. Alcohol markers go smooth and dry fast. ❤️ Had
Thank you for this! I’ve seen that’s what people do, and always been curious about it, but this was helpful. I’m going to give that a try. Is this a book you downloaded, printed, and spiral bound it? I like the size.
Your nails are super pretty! I am so sorry to hear that you're experiencing hand pain. I have arthritis, so know what you mean and I also like to shade over markers. Such a fun and helpful video. Thanks Jamie. Love your channel. I recently bought my first 24 of Crayola supertips, but they bleed through to the back of the Amazon books. Do you have any advice for that?
Jamie thanks for your videos. Always enjoy watching them. I, too, have been having the same pain. As well as, a bit of a swelling just above my wrist, on the hand. Not sure if I twisted something. I am 66 and starting arthritis but have never had this pain. Now, I color every day, so?
Thank you for watching and your support. I notice the repetitive motion of coloring with agitate it. So I have to take breaks. I recently got into watercoloring. It definitely relieves the pressure.
You should consider perhaps investing in 3 Copic Sketch yellow markers plus their refills. That is an expensive original outlay, but ends up as a cost effective option over the years. One is even able to purchase replacement nibs for them. If you need help choosing some yellow colors I can do a video on all the yellow copics I own lol, then you can have an opportunity to see them. Blick markers are also nice and have refills. You can buy single copics at Blick.
@@jamiescoloringlove I only have a Blick with brush and chisel. I think Copic 'original' has a fine and bullet and then you can purchase a brush tip to replace one of them if you want to. I live in South Africa, so have never been inside a Blick Store, but I've bought from them on their online catalog.
I have thought about getting the copics in the yellow tones, and sky blue, water blue like tones. I tend to burn through them. I love brush markers, I will be honest I am kinda hard on my brush tips. I like the regular ones for Amazon print books. But truth be told you really shouldn't use copics in those due to the bad paper. It is a really hard choice.
@@jamiescoloringlove No I agree, but as I'm not really an artist I use the Copics I have. We have only just started being able to get ohuhu here in South Africa, so I tend to use Graph it and Copics. I love the Ohuhu that I have, but they are hard to get hold of.
I know the video is a couple of years old but it looks like Amazon changed the quality of her color books. That’s sad, I was super interested especially since it is spiral bound. From the reviews it sounds like the paper quality is bad too. 🙁
I actually purchased this book as a PDF on etsy. And took the file to my copy store and had them print it on a 5x7 format on cardstock and spiral bind it.

Thanks so much Linda! Ya I try not to over think. And make it easier on myself. I am glad you enjoy my videos. Thanks for watching.
Awesome tutorial and coloring, especially with an aching hand. It’s looking great. Hope your hand feels better soon. Tfs, til next time!!!!

I have used them too, the one the hold your wrist in place is very helpful.
This page is going to come out gorgeous

Thanks so much, i just work with the marker. Surprising books like hannah karlzon and klara markova do okay with the water base marker

I love alcohol markers. I sometimes will buy a second book just so I can use the alcohol markers.
Very helpful x
Girl rest that hand! I need to try this technique I neglect my pencils. Plus it always looks amazing when you do this!
Thank you thank you. I am trying this out on my next pic. Very helpful
Your welcome, happy to help!
Sorry your hand hurts...mine do too at times! Hope it feels better soon! Thank you for sharing. 😊
Thanks. I think it will pass. Sometimes this happens. Gives me a chance to maybe work on some more watercolor techniques. Lol. Thanks for watching.

I like coloring this way, too. A lot easier on the hands and I find I get bored and never finish a page when I try to do it in nothing but pencil

Yes it is a pdf I bought on etsy, and took it to my copy store and had them reduce the size and make it for me.

Yes. You can use a prisma blender with any pencil i find.
