Replacing those van doors gets expensive fast. I had a hire van that ended up being towed backwards by a tractor, and had a smash with the tow tractor when it was forced to make an emergency stop by an errant pickup. The van slid on slick mud, and we took the tractor's towgear right into the middle of the back doors. They closed, they latched, we made it home but the hire company charged me for the repair (correctly, it was in my care when the accident happened) - it ended up coming to over a grand with parts and labour. Hopefully you can get it panel beaten, and save the cost of new parts, at least.

Don't feel bad about the van Cory it could be worse. Back when I was still an apprentice I gave the sparks I was working with a lift pick up the new company van. He didn't even make it out of the dealership with it. He misjudged the size of it and caught the gate out onto the forecourt. Smashed the passenger window and dented the whole door. Van immediately went back in for a new door.

Nicely off topic but Re: the injury, I used to live in Sweden and went to visit a stately house, Tjolöholms Slott.
It was built by a Scottish businessman who bought pit prop timber and sold it in the UK. He lived in Sweden too.
The place was finished and he was mowing the lawns, he had a bottle of pop, which in Sweden, even when I was there, had a metal cap that was removed by pulling a tag similar to wine bottles.
He cut himself opening the bottle and wrapped the soft metal round the cut to stop the bleeding.
Died three days later, blood poisoning.
Which is too close to home as my grandad did a similar thing when I was five.
At least you washed the cut .
I have done the same many times but it is worth treating properly, even if it does come over as rather wussy.
A very neat installation in the end, commiserations on the van incident.

Years ago while learning to drive a Datsun Sunny, always in the dark, on quiet roads for some reason, i was doing a 3 point turn and decided to do it under the only working street light on the road, heavy rain and darkness didnt help, so steer to middle of road and then to opposite kerb and engage reverse , and reverse, single street light giving a good view of rear, so i stopped clear of the kerb line, instructor said you can go back a bit more, but try not to hit kerb, so slowly crept back about a few more feet and BANG, THEN BANG again as i had reversed into the lamppost stuck on edge of kerb, as opposed to being on fence line for some reason , then second Bang as shade from the yellow sodium lamp fell onto roof of car, we both got out as neighbours started appearing, and i was told to drive off quite quickly .
Never heard anymore about the incident, despite car having a dent in roof, broken lamp post a huge, L on a triangle stuck on roof as well as signs on side of learner car.

Top Tip: if you cut you finger put your hand above your head, this lowers the blood pressure in your arm & allows the cut to clot quicker.
PDR will be able to remove the dent in the door & that will save a fortune in labour, paint & a replacement door.
Trying to remove the dent yourself will have made PDR harder so next time as temping as it is don't try to remove the dent.
The bumper cover will need replacing though.

I have found an alternative, still made by Wiha but in their Zu Hause (at home) range. It has the same Nm adjustment as the speed-e 2 but at a fraction of the price. I’ve used it now for a few months and it’s been brilliant. Only difference that I can see is that the rechargeable battery can’t be changed.

    @tomcardale5596 Před 2 lety +2

Say you've got a ring which you need to extend 20cm, can you create a lollipop circuit?
Bit of 4mm2 out of the board up to the trunking, a three way MF lever connector (so you can disconnect for testing) and run the ring from that. I can't immediately think of a reason why it wouldn't be safe. I think the biggest issue would be testing it but it's accessible and you can stick a label somewhere. You're allowed to parallel conductors, you're not creating a split ring or a cross connected ring or anything. Might save a few extensions? Maybe it's just a bit too confusing and not worth the hassle.
It would be fine (normal even) to run a 10mm2 cable out to a garage, put in an DB with a 32A MCB and run a ring final from that. If you were to just move the 32A MCB to the start of the 10mm2 cable it would appear to achieve the same effect. Could be useful if you've got a redundant cooker feed in a kitchen too, otherwise you'd just turn it in to a radial on 4mm2.
Maybe there's already a name for this that I don't know about!

You can cover the glue with a small bit of tyvek if it's in an area that gets stretched a lot... Also keep some *instant cold packs* handy for when you bash yourselves... Getting cold on a contusion *fast* will reduce bruising and speed healing.

Forget the speedy just ask Jordan for the 12v hilti drill that comes with all the different accessories it's far better than using an impact driver

You can get a panel beater to push to dent out and it we'll look like it has never had a dent in it good luck .

Cory Accidents happen.. You should not be paying for it, I would hope Jordan would understand its just part of business costs (Obviously dont keep doing it).. Its annoying I know but you do a great job and any employer should look after you, its one of the big advantages of being employed rather than self employed.. Your not the type that has been reckless.. Any employer that would accept you paying for that accident your too good to be working for...
I am sure Jordan will do the right thing..
I crashed my company car in a morrisons car park age 21, had to sheepishly phone my boss to tell him, thankfully he was alright about it, luckily a load of other guys had accidents.. I did about £4.5k worth of damage, although ironically the repair shop took over 3 months to repair and when I got it checked out at a main dealer turns out they had done £6.5k worth of damage by trying to fix it...

Don’t worry I didn’t reverse into a lamp post I drove into one head on in a week old electric van, my foot slipped! It happens but I wasn’t as good as you and I didn’t offer to pay to fix it 😂
