    In fallout 3 If you go do operation anchorage while wearing outcast power armor the armor acts like faction armor (even though fallout 3 didn’t have faction armor mechanics) and the outcast you meet at Bailey’s crossroads (defender morril I think) thinks you’re the reinforcements and starts giving you the run down on what’s happening, that mutants have over ran the cross roads, we need to fortify our position here and find a place to dig in and hold them back till (I think his name was protector McGraw) can finish the mission inside, “let’s move out solider, on the double, that’s an order!” And once you’re done since they think you’re one of them they let you in without checking your Pipboy first and going through the whole “oh you’re a vault dweller” thing. They just let you in.
    And because most players would never think to show up to aiding the outcasts in outcast armor most players don’t know about that special interaction. Fallout 3 and new Vegas are so old now and yet we’re STILL finding new things to this day that people didn’t know about.

    • @Lucifronz
      @Lucifronz Před 4 měsíci +29

      I've done that before on a playthrough where I chose to wear their armor as my outfit. I vaguely recall everything you said, so I'm pretty sure it's true, but it's been so long it's all hazy.
      Operation: Anchorage was one of my favorite DLCs from Fallout 3, a game which had a few interesting ones already as it was. I wish we got more DLCs centered around that kind of look at the past. Fallout 4 was primed for it, with the character even being an actual soldier in the war before the bombs fell, so they'd have a lot more to say and comment on if they had an Operation: Anchorage-like simulation experience.
      It's why people were so disappointed in the Memory Den. You can visit the Memory Den to go through your own memories, but you just wind up watching your spouse die again and not much else and it only happens, I believe, if you visit Goodneighbor before going to Diamond City and rescuing Nick. I don't know the precise requirements. Might google it so I can try it out again, even if it was disappointing.

What a thought) as a Courier far more focused on revenge than anything else, so when I got to New Vegas I went straight to Benny, he ran away and tried to spring his trap at the presidential suite, and I immediately followed him to Caesar's camp. Then after being told by Caesar to deal with the bunker, this happened.

      @mbii7667 There's nothing wrong with enjoying Bethesda Fallout. It's just that many people regard those games as being like theme park rides: fun in the moment, but forgettable as soon as they end. Their stories are OK as long as you don't think about them too hard, but they quickly unravel under scrutiny. Some of us just prefer the character and choice driven nature of Classic Fallout.

    • @Lucifronz
      @Lucifronz Před 4 měsíci +11

      @@lartrak I disliked the game prior to the DLCs. I had a 360 copy I sold to GameStop because I never intended to play it again. The whole map is a circle and felt smaller than Fallout 3's map somehow despite, I believe, being larger (the design is much more tight and with way more obstacles that make it feel less open so that you'll traverse it in a counter-clockwise fashion).
      In fact, without the DLCs, that dialogue about a courier you get in Prim is left dangling the whole time and it sticks in your head the whole game making you feel like you're missing something... and it makes it seem much more significant because you pretty much *have* to go through Prim on your first playthrough since you're following the set path to avoid being murdered by Cazadors and Deathclaws to the north.
      Every playthrough pretty much plays out the same way. In Fallout 3 or 4 you can just go wherever you want. The map design is excellent in that regard.
      In New Vegas, you either go south like the game wants you to and take forever to navigate it, or you can quicksave a bunch as you go north, dodging enemies that can wipe you out. That's pretty much it. North and South are your options, even once you get past those points, you still can't really go east and west because of the intentionally-designed barriers to force you on a long road trip. I still hate New Vegas's map to this day.
      And it's not like the DLCs are a whole lot better. I remember how frustrating the casino DLC felt because you've got this asshole taunting you in your ear the whole time and you deal with another ghoulish asshole who's looking to stab you in the back, and your best allies are a near-useless mute and a super mutant who wants to kill and eat you. It's interesting, but also really annoying because it forces you into Obsidian's narrative. At least in Fallout 4's DLC you can literally just shoot the fuckers getting on your nerves, even if there are consequences. Like Nuka-World. The minute you get through the gauntlet, you no longer have to put up with the raiders. Does the story kinda suck if you don't side with them? Yeah, it's designed around that, but at least you're given the freedom to do so. If not the freedom to decide who your character is from the start because they forced you into the husband/wife with a kid role.
      But I digress.
      New Vegas is pretty good, but it's mostly thanks to the DLC that builds it all up together. Fallout 3's story writing is shit, but it is entertaining throughout and that was more important to me back then. Plus I had the benefit of playing the GOTY version first, so it was more stable by then. New Vegas? Not so much. I was playing an unpatched offline copy of the base game on 360. All the bugs, none of the DLC. Worst possible way to play the game. Crash after fucking crash and so many issues along the way.
